The Devils Rejects
What a sick, gory, vile, disturbing, violent, great horror movie! They don't make 'em like that anymore. I was pleased with the movie overall, but I had one qualm:
Spoiler: No doctor Satan! Not even a mention. I was like what the fuck! I was looking foward to seeing more of him after House of 1000 Corpses Sheri Moon (Zombie) is so hot. Spoiler: she shows her ass alot! Ken Foree is great. He hasn't done anything I liked since Texas Chainsaw III Danny Trejo is great. He's good in anything. Diamond Dallas Page(Yes DDP!) even has a good small part in the movie. Bill Mossely(Otis) is brillant. Really twisted. Sid Haig(clown) not much makeup in this one, but if you liked him in the first one you'll love him in Rejects. Overall as a horror fan, this is my Star Wars! I will go to bed not to have nightmares, but to dream of Sheri Moon Zombie. She could cut me up anytime! :D |
I liked this a lot. It's better than most horor movies like this in a long while.
And Capt. Spaulding is fast becoming another horror icon, along with Freddy, Jason, et al. |
I loved it.
It wasn't really meant to be a sequel as much as a spin-off or side-story of sorts from House of 1000 Corpses (that's why there's no Dr. Satan). Spoiler: I loved when all the hostages in the Motel were killed off. Nothing pisses me off more in movies than when people LIVE through incidents they shouldn't live through. Hopefully Rob Zombie makes more movies, because I'm enjoying his style so far. |
I saw it today and it was kinda...Eh... I thought it would have been better than that. It was pretty fucked up but not up to par on what I thought it would be.
I do think Bill Moseley did a fantastic job though, I loved him. :) And Sheri Moon Zombie was uber hot. |
Didn't much care for it. I liked House of 1000 Corpses quite a bit, though.
Semi-Spoiler ahead: Spoiler: The fact that these "Devil's Rejects" had done to them what they are accustomed to doing to others could have been fascinating, but, amazingly, it wasn't even addressed at all. This cop tortures them in the same way as they are accustomed to torturing others, and no one in the film seems to even remotely realize this, and Zombie doesn't even attempt to capitalize on the irony, rendering the entire movie pointless, IMO. |
I noticed that too Doc, though my thoughts were that his character and the growth of his character were written with that end in mind.
Ken Foree's character was hilarious. I think the best line in the whole movie comes from the Star Wars conversation he has with that hooker, "The last thing we need are a bunch of horny robots runnin' around trippin' over shit." Spoiler: The motel scene made me so uncomfortable that I almost felt like turning away or closing my eyes...wasn't it awesome? :D I also though that the beginning shootout at the house was directed phenomenally, it had my heart racing. Another "Sherri-Moon-is-hot" vote from me too! |
I've never been a big fan of southern rock, but it was used absolutely friggin brilliantly in this film.
Spoiler: The last sequence of the film where Free Bird plays in the foreground was the best edited scene of the last six months. I'd have to go back to Oldboy to find something better. |
I saw it again last night. Damn I love it! Sheri Mooooooon Zombie!
I'm growing my beard out like Otis Driftwood. Nasty! You know what, I really have no complaints about this movie. I gotta get the soundtrack. Great southern rock songs. Did I mention I love Sheri Moon Zombie. |
Awesome movie. I've also seen it twice, went the other night with other friends who hadn't seen it and I wasn't disappointed the second time around. Good shit.
