Inked-new series on A & E

Quote:

takes a real-life look at the pioneering Hart & Huntington Tattoo Company, where celebrity chic meets outrider art. Equal parts grit and glitz, INKED introduces an original band of tattoo-culture characters at the first parlor ever to open inside a Vegas casino, the glamorous Palms Casino Resort.

Hart & Huntington attracts an unpredictable mix of rock stars, celebrity VIPs, locals, and tourists. Each week, in back-to-back episodes, we follow founder and freestyle motocross champ, Carey Hart, as he caters to high-profile clients, while also managing his staff of temperamental artists.

Every body has a story. Customers at Hart & Huntington reveal intimate and fascinating tales behind their touching and bizarre requests. From names of lovers and loved ones, to animals, insects, cobwebs, religious symbols, and Asian imagery, the designs inked by the shop's artists span the range of human imagination.

And while H & H attracts an upscale crowd, its premier tattoo artists dish out plenty of rebellious 'tude. Motocross legend CAREY HART opened the shop in 2004 and now runs it with co-owner THOMAS PENDLETON. Thomas has been tattooing since he was fourteen. He's sure the shop will be a huge success, but he worries that his employees are "stuck on stupid."

I think this sounds like a pretty good show, is any one else planning on watching it? It starts tonite a 9pm, they are are two episodes.

Hmm, that does sound intriguing. Thanks for alerting us to it, Shani.

I'm confused a bit, though. Why is the company named Hart & Huntington, when Hart's partner is named Pendleton? Is it a typo, you think? :hmm:

edit: Why am I even obsessing about this?

The first episode reveals that the company was begun by Hart and Huntington, Pendleton runs it for them.
It is a good show. For the purposes of reality tv, they have more melodrama than the average tattoo shop, but it is good enough.

Thanks, Min. :)

I checked it out. Thought it was alright.
I don't have any tattoos and I'm not in the culture, but it's interesting to learn about the ins & outs of the trade and the history about tattooing.

I recall seeing some show about this subject on one of the learning channels in the past, and thoroughly enjoying the show.

Don't know if I'll ever get 'inked', though. :D

The 2nd show with Dizzle about cracked me up lol (I fell asleep right after the grapefruits arrived though so I dont know how it ended yet...I taped it so I'll watch today)

TLC has a similar show called "Miami Ink".

I watched some of the first episode. I thought it was a pretty interesting show. Not so much from the business/emotional perspective, but just learning more about tattoos. Actually want to get one myself.

I actually saw a picture of this very thing. It was in one of Toronto's alternative weekly papers a few years ago. Believe it or not, the guy had blue and yellow flames tatooed along the side!

I thought it would be funny if someone shaved their pubes and got a tatoo of an elephant right there. But without the trunk. I think you can figure out what the trunk would be.

Anyway, ive been watching both "Inked" and "Miami Ink". Both great new shows. Every time i watch i wanna get a tatoo.

I finally got to see last weeks episodes....that last one broke my heart....specially when they showed Thomas' drawing of the wedding rings he'd been doing

yellowchef 08-02-2005 12:29 AM

My friend went down to Miami Ink and they quoted her some outrageous prices...

I mean Id love to have these guys draw on me but I cant afford it.

That being said I wish I had some cash to throw down on the next tattoo I want...... a little angel holding a whisk and spoon.

These 2 shows are pretty interesting and though Im always at work... I find ways to catch up ;)
