Death to Smootchie

Has anyone seen this movie? I know it's old but it's HILARIOUS! I can't believe I went all this time without seeing this movie. Given I was a bit baked when I saw it kinda added to the experience, too. But you gotta love Edward Norton in a pink rhino suit singing kids' songs.

Umm...that sounds super bizarre. I suppose it could be funny, but I think this makes me NOT want to see it now. Glad I haven't yet.

I saw it awhile ago, don't remember much 'cept it was really boring.

Would have helped if I had been baked, I'm sure.

This movie was quite funny! Edward Norton who usually plays serious characters, went out on a limb and plays a hilariously riotous character who is marketed towards children but really shouldn't been seen by anyone under 13. I highly recommend this movie (cliche, I know).

This was definitely worth seeing and completely bizarre. One of those movies which you sit there and wonder how it actually got made because you're amazed at how far the actors go outside of their normal range. I think it had trouble finding a target audience - probably why it's been overlooked.

Also Catherine Keener is always a hottie.

I loved the movie, thought Robin Williams played his part to perfection. The whole cast did actually.

This movie is great. The opening scene with Robin Williams made the movie, it just made me wonder if Mr. Roggers and Barney are like that behind the scenes. Plus, the movie has the Irish Mafia and a semi-mentally handicapped retired boxer...who wouldn't like it.

wow, this is considered old? I'm a fossil now...

Okay, I saw it and I felt the movie, while funny, pulled too many punches. This should have been a film on the over-the-top level of something like Dr. Strangelove or maybe Bad Santa. As it is, the movie is funny, but nowhere near as funny as it could have been.

I kinda expected more from Danny DeVito...

maybe i'll have to give this movie another shot sometime. I saw it in the theater and I remember thinking that it should have been so much better, considering the talent that was attached to it.

It was vulgar and kinda funny... but not nearly has darkly-themed as Danny DeVito's other work. Throw Mama... and War of the Roses are super twisted movies and the crazy stuff that the characters do in them is hilarious. But the things that they pulled off in Death to Smoochy don't really live up to it.

I remember how when you looked under the surface and saw all of the metaphors that they were working with and how it was a social commentary about mainstream media.

Then I realized that I just overanalyzed everything and appreciated it for what it was.

That movie is great for what it is, a fair dark comedy about what you see not always being what you get.

I saw it a couple years ago when I was staying with a friend out of town. I couldn't believe I hadn't seen it before that. I loved it, and still do (thankfully, now I own it).

I just wish it had gone more into Edward Norton's character's past. He said something about having been in anger management and I really wanted to know why, especially with how "goody goody" he acted in the movie.

Either way, it's definitely something I'd recommend seeing. It isn't the best dark comedy ever, but it is very, very good.
