Survivor 10 - Meet the Cast

Check it out:

http://www.cbs.com/primetime/survivor10/

Begins February 17th already! That means I'll have Survivor, Amazing Race AND The Apprentice on every week! Holy reality overload Batman! (Plus my wife watches American Idol....)

Fremen 01-21-2005 10:30 PM

I'm there, for sure.

Is this the first time the normal Survivor has 20 contestants?

Grancey 01-22-2005 09:31 AM

I don't remember 20 contestants on any of the other "Survivors". I think it has always been 18. But I also read that 3 people will be eliminated in the first episode. Apparently, there will be a few changes. I'm ready for my "Survivor" fix........

Derwood 01-22-2005 10:36 AM

It was always 16 until All-Star, then last season was 18.

Im SO reay for this!!!!

the_marq 01-24-2005 08:01 AM

So does anyone want to make a guess as to what they are going to do to shake it up this time? There has to be a major change to the game as things are really starting to stagnate.

**All individual immunity?

Any ideas?

omega2K4 01-24-2005 08:49 PM

Wait. There has been 10 survivor "seasons" already? WTF

Palau Tiga
Australia

Amazon
Thailand
Marquesas
Pearl Islands
Pearl Islands #2
Vanuatu
Palau #2

I've definetly miss at most one episode from each of the first nine seasons. I'll admit Vanuatu wasn't the best except for sweet, sweet, Julie Berry. Hopefully going from 16 to 18 to 20 works out, gives them double eliminations and what not.

Right. Still just 39 days, even with 4 extra people. Means multiple eliminations or eliminations more often than every 3rd day.

spongy 01-25-2005 03:21 PM

I've hoped for a few seasons that they would randomly reset the teams after every elimintation.

thespian86 01-28-2005 01:24 PM

None of the women are really eye catching for me. I guess I'll have to pick someone to route for instead of just getting a crush on one of them :icare:

Daoust 02-14-2005 04:30 AM

is this to become the official Survivor 10 thread? The one in which we comment before and after every episode about how good/bad it will be/ was?

If so, I'm stoked about the new episode. But a few things. Whats with a return to Palau? Are there really that few places to shoot Survivor??

Second, in the commercials they said that the catch for this years survivor is "no help of any kind"??? Does that mean they don't have the "local native tribesman" come in about episode 4 or 5 who comes in and tells them all the plants and roots they can eat? Does it also mean no cooking pot? No machete? Hmmmm.

Lockjaw 02-14-2005 05:52 AM

Can't wait for Survivor 12. When they release real live polar bears on the island to terrorize the contestants.

Locke7 02-14-2005 07:39 AM

Here we go... Starts this week. I can't wait. Just need to decide to watch survivor, tape the OC? Or tape the OC and watch surviror...

My wife and I have discovered that taping Survivor and watching The O.C. is the better plan. That way, when something critical happens or is whispered, we can back it up and watch again more closely.

The O.C. doesn't seem to have the same urgency.

kutulu 02-14-2005 11:03 AM

Sweet. Who will be the slutty one that pisses off the ugly women? Which guy will be ousted for being a sexist? Who are the hotties? I can't wait to find out.

I think it would be fucking cool if instead of having real teams, the teams are picked at random before each challenge. That would really fuck with things.

Locke7 02-14-2005 11:31 AM

I'll make a first prediction IF it's guys against gals again. The beefy guys will hang out the first day, and the older, and not so beefy guys will hang out together. Girls will win first immunity and one by one the beefy guys will get picked off. This will swirl off to the demise of all the men on the island.

But maybe they will switch it up again, and teams will be co-ed.

the_marq 02-14-2005 12:10 PM

Locke7: Spoiler: They are booting off 3 people on the first show.

Locke7 02-14-2005 12:21 PM

Oh, I saw that somewhere as well. I just thought it was funny how last season, the big strong guys totally forgot that they would be perceived as a threat and that they were at risk. The "well, they need us to win challenges" doesn't work anymore.

blitz.fenix 02-14-2005 03:56 PM

Can they finally implement a Lord of the Flies theme already? Especially with all those WW2 machines lying around it could make for great forts and goodies.

Ananas 02-14-2005 09:23 PM

I'd like to see more personal battles, like teams of 2 competing against other teams in the initial stages, then a final blending of all the remaining contestants for the last 3 or 4 episodes. They'd have to modify the challenges to accommodate this, but it would be far more interesting to see the smaller pairings, especially if 2 totally disparate people are paired.

Since the Amazing Race is borrowing contestants from other reality shows, Survivor could borrow from them: have each 2-member team select who is going to compete in a particular challenge; have roadblocks; and, have non-elimination rounds. There would be some areas to iron out, such as how would they select each episode's loser, but I think it would make it more interesting.

Just hope they get some people who actually something about surviving in the wilds for once.

ShaniFaye 02-15-2005 03:01 AM

I saw in the commercials for the 1st episode that 3 people go home by the end of the show

grendel 02-17-2005 08:28 PM

so, 3 it was. trying the spoiler cover here... Spoiler: boy am i glad the singing english teacher was one of the ones to go. she was driving me nuts!

interesting first show...

Grancey 02-17-2005 09:34 PM

I saw an interview this morning with Jeff Probst, and he said that the survivors would be more interesting this time. I think he's right.

I thought it was sad. She was so excited to be there, unlike like a lot of the usual crying twits who beg to go home after two weeks.

And speaking of someone who already gets on my nerves, I wish Coby had been on that damn boat. Thank goodness I won't have to listen to Jo shrieking through more episodes.

i'll give you that. she definitely seemed excited to be there... in a hollywood musical kinda way. i think she was just a little too overwhelming, and it doesn't surprise me that the others would react a little negatively to that.

ShaniFaye 02-18-2005 08:04 AM

I was so glad to see the first person voted out was the person I wanted gone!!!

But her presence on the island might have made for some good television (lots of conflict). I don't think Angie (was that her name) will be nearly as interesting.

i'm still kinda shocked that coby didn't pick her... after all that "we are just alike - we know how it feels to be different" bullshit from him...

ShaniFaye 02-18-2005 08:55 AM

yeah I was too.....then I got really pissed at him.....I hope he goes quick

Locke7 02-18-2005 09:05 AM

OK, what's the deal with hyping this show saying they were going to get nothing on the island. They were pushing that SO hard in the previews... Nothing, as in a map to the water and all your shoes. Oh and you get machete's (sp?) as well. Oh and at the first challenge one of you will get flint.

I actually don't care though. I loved the way the teams were picked. Straight out of 6th grade dodge ball. And the only reason I liked it is that a big buff guy got sent packing. Actually I feel kind of bad for him.

I think this is going to be a great season. The beautiful scenery (the land and the people) are nice on the eyes. Oh and I am waiting for the dolphin trainer to whip out one of those high pitched whistles, and have like 20 dolphins come right up to him and catch a bunch of fish.

i was thinking more like those telepathic rings that aquaman used to send out on the superfriends, but the whistle works, too.

Daoust 02-18-2005 09:36 AM

YEah I was expecting a little less help on the show too. I did feel bad that those two had to get booted right away, but that lady was freaking annoying!!! What a loser. Like, did she not watch a single episode of Survivor before? DOesn't she know to stay below the radar early? What an idiot. She gives teachers a bad name.

I hope this season is better than last season. I'll still probably watch every episode, but I hope it's good.

kutulu 02-18-2005 11:01 AM

I was so happy to see the teacher lady go. She was annoying.

The red team dropping their fire was funny as hell.

Yeah, they are all amercian otherwise I would have applied years ago. The only non-American ever on the show was Kel, the guy kicked off over the beef jerky scandal in season 3 or 4. He was CDN born but had served in the US military if I recall correctly.

Kel, representin'. :)

I was glad to see Wanda and Jolanda leave. I couldn't have stood many episodes with the two of them. The other guy... I can't even remember anything about him. But taken from his CBS bio
Quote:

[Jonathan] Libby describes himself as straightforward, blunt and intense. He enjoys skiing, fishing, wakeboarding and playing guitar. He teaches women's self-defense courses and competes in full contact fighting. He has also spent time over the last two years learning how to skillfully master the art of sushi-making. His grandmother is his hero, as he believes she is the backbone of their family and the best person he's ever met. He is most proud of being able to say, at 23 years old, he beat cancer
It sounds like he would've been a good addition to the team. Sushi master? Full-contact fighter? I think he should've stayed.

Oh, and there's a kid in my Chem class who's keeping a chart with him. He has all of the contestants on it and crosses them off as they get voted out. He says that he's making a big one over Feb. vacation.

grendel 02-19-2005 12:13 PM

we have a survivor pool in my office.

How very, very intriguing it is that all three fellas from Alabama are in the same tribe. My wife and I were wondering last night if they are all Auburn fans, Alabama fans, or mixed. These episodes were being filmed while Auburn was completing its first undefeated football season in over 10 years.

And there's no way three guys from Alabama got together on a deserted island and DIDN'T discuss football.

Daval 02-25-2005 05:21 AM

I really wish that Angie would cover up though. Her bits and pieces are popping out all over the place:p now if it was kim, I could handle it.

Speaking of Kim, I seriously thought she was going home last night.

Bravo to them for retrieving the flint kit, that was seriously hard work, and they must have spent hours looking for it.

ShaniFaye 02-25-2005 05:25 AM

Whats wrong with seeing Angie? I dont think Kim is attractive at all. I think both her and jeff need to go.

on a side note....has anyone seen that Rob and Amber are on the new Amazing Race starting next tuesday?

inharmony 02-25-2005 05:34 AM

I was happy to see the effort by them to get the flint. Kim should've gone home no doubt. Although her being there keeps Jeff around for now. NICE body! :) Looks like it doesn't take long for fights to break out next week. Should prove interesting.

*Nikki* 02-25-2005 11:35 AM

Kim should have got the boot. I hope that she does no manage to fly below the radar like that damn Amber did. She sucks.

supersix2 02-26-2005 11:29 PM

I'm actually going to watch this survivor because I was in Boy Scouts with Ian. He was the Senior Patrol Leader for like three years. I'm pulling for him to win.

boom29 03-03-2005 10:35 PM

I'm sad to see Jeff go, but there really wasn't much choice. Considering they are already shorthanded, their tribe couldn't afford to compete in the remaining challenges with him in that state.

It doesn't matter if a team is shorthanded. Probst has the opposite team sit someone out to compensate for the imbalance.
Also, considering that Jeff could help out in their camp, as long as he kept off of the leg, and Kim doesn't do anything in camp or in the challenges, they picked the wrong person, again.

Dumbasses.

I agree with you. I also was impressed with Stephanie during the challenge. She kicked ass!

boom29 03-04-2005 04:36 PM

I understand that people do have to sit out, but when he has to compete, the tribe will still be at a disadvantage. Similar to last Survivor where Scout couldn't do anything because of her knee. Granted, Jeff is probably better than her on one leg, but the difference is that Scout's trive had the luxury to sit her out, Jeff's tribe does not have that luxury.

happyraul 03-05-2005 01:43 PM

I agree with Fremen, Jeff is more useful than Kim no matter how you slice it. She just sucks. One thing that impressed me about this last episode were the challenges. Both were incredibly brutal, and at least to me they were original for Survivor.

Last nights episode was pretty good I thought. The immunity challenge especially. I am glad to see Kim go. Now they might get their act together. Bobby Jon, Stephenie, and Angie are the only ones keeping them going.

kutulu 03-11-2005 11:38 AM

It's too bad that Kim sucked so much. She was so hot.

Daoust 03-11-2005 02:10 PM

It was definitely Kims time to go, but she was growing on me. The list of hotties running around in their bras is shortening. How about the hick guy, what's his name, Mr. Southern Drawl? He sucked hard at the challenge. But what impressed me more about him is that you can clearly see his junk through those boxer briefs... loved the girls in the immunity challenge. They kicked ass. Especially the girl wearing the gross g-string.

I don't think so, but maybe I just hated her so much there was no way for me to see it. Plus I like brunettes more. But yeah I'm happy with the way last night went. Now that Ulong has mostly people that I want to see sticking around, I hope they finally win an immunity challenge so we can see some of the more irritating people get kicked out from Koror, like that woman that bitched out the other one last week (this week she was bitching about everyone liking Tom or whatever his name is).

Wow. Just saw tonight's episode. The entire tribal counsel was awesome...SPOILERS...having Koror give out immunity to one of Ulong's was unexpected to say the least. Well, you don't know that for sure, though. CBS is pretty handy at editing things to make something appear headed in one direction when it's really not. Having said that, I've never seen Jeff just plain out FUCK with a tribe like he has Ulong. The looks on all their faces is total defeat. I hoped that there would have been some sort of emergency tribal swap in order to perk them up, because all four of the Ulongs look ready to quit.

the preview for next week's episode looked completely random. i don't remember what all was shown, but it sure didn't hint at any tribe swapping or merging. i don't see how they could not switch things up though, when koror has twice as many people as ulong. maybe they should just split koror in half and make a 3rd tribe... that sounds fun. :)

Antikarma 03-17-2005 07:43 AM

I'll miss the angie, she was hawt, but it just opens it up for my man Robot Tom to take over the island and force them into slavery.

I mean seriously, would YOU argue with him? nuh uh.

Locke7 03-17-2005 07:58 AM

As far as twists go, I really liked the "other tribe gets to pick who gets immunity" I didn't see that coming, and it's something we haven't seen before.

I'd love to see the planning that goes on behind the scenes with the producers during the actual taping. I mean, do they script the whole 39 days out and just make it work. Or is it a dynamic plan that changes when certain things happen. Like a tribe sucking so bad that without kicking someone off of both teams, after last night it would be 9 on 4.

Ulong sucks, that's all there is to it.

the_marq 03-17-2005 09:20 AM

Damn. Too bad to see Angie get the boot last night. She had been totally dominant in the challenges, that stupid last minute immunity for the buff black dude kinda screwed her over.

I hope next week someone hits Tom in the head with a club.

Antikarma 03-17-2005 09:45 AM

My man Robot Tom is immune to your petty human weapons. Clubs, bullets, and knives mean nothing to him. Behold as he takes over the world, one puny island at a time.

Seriously tho, if this guy is indicative if the NYFD, I'm NEVER pickin a fight with a firefighter again.

Daval 03-17-2005 09:46 AM

I'll bet due to the onesidedness of this years survivor that they implemented the double elimination as an emergency measure to try and balance things out somewhat.

It was a shame to see Angie leave, although I prayed weekly for her to put some clothes on, she was an amazing competitor and kicked ass in the challenges. I was kinda hoping that James would be kicked out once Ibriham got immunity (what a lucky motherfucker).

I actually kinda wish they had kept Willard and got rid of that really annoying bitchy civil rights lawyer chick (was that what she does for a living?) she's a useless lump and everytime she speaks I get annoyed.

Otherwise a pretty good episode.

Ulong sucks, that's all there is to it.

i have to believe that it's more dynamic than structured. they probably have a list of twists they could pull if the game heads certain directions as well as a list of challenges they can use, both individual and team, depending on how many people are left in the game.

the producers probably have daily meetings to watch tape, review how things stand, and decide which direction they want to lead the contestants. then they have 'pretty boy probst' carry things out from there.

maybe things are more structured than that, but i doubt it. :)

inharmony 03-17-2005 10:43 AM

I wish James would've been voted out. He annoys me. Angie was far better in challenges than him imo. Ibrihim better step it up next week. Different episode to say the least.

simonrex22 03-17-2005 11:40 AM

Why is it that all the big buff black dudes turn out to be the biggest whiny babies. I wish Ibraam got the boot but i guess its a good move for the other tribe in giving him immunity. Now they can rely on him to foul up more challenges.

Anyone hear the rumor about Wendy or whoever the singing lady was in the beginning. I read on a reality tv site that she was bitter about being kicked off in the first ten minutes, so she let out the big secret that more than half of the contestants are models thrown in to spice things up.

I cant say much about the cast other than, thank god they arent all lesbians trying to make an all woman's tribe. I think i'm rootin for the skinny dude with glasses. I think he's the dolphin trainer. Everyone else bugs me except for maybe the gay guy. Its funny to see another guy with a Boston accent though, i dont like him all that much.

And to finish it off. Where are the women. Steph is the closest thing to eye candy, but in any other situation i wouldnt call it that. I miss watching Darrah take a shower. They should make up some reason to have Darrah on every season.

I was thinking the same thing, but to be fair I went through CBS's website and realized it wasn't a black thing, but it might be a buff thing. Ibrahim from this season is a wimp, and Osten from 7 was a wimp (did he actually quit? I can't remember). But there were tough black guys as well. Ted from 5 was cool, he made it to the jury. And Sean from 4 made it to the jury as well.

So I think it is more of a buff thing. Note that this season, the younger more physical tribe has lost evey immunity challenge so far.

Yes, he told Jeff that he wanted to go home. And on the last episode where the final two take the Walk of Remberance, Osten's torch was on the ground instead of standing up in a respected position.

And shave her damn armpits. Sorry if some of you are in to that, but seriously, I gagged every time she would get excited and throw her arms in the air.

the producers probably have daily meetings to watch tape, review how things stand, and decide which direction they want to lead the contestants. then they have 'pretty boy probst' carry things out from there.

maybe things are more structured than that, but i doubt it. :)

That would make the most sense to me. The double elimination was necessary at some point. Before AS, they always had 16 castaways, since then, they've had more but didn't increase the amount of episodes in a season. Therefore you have to have a few double elimination days. The first episode had 3 people leave instead of one and now they just had a double elimination day. That makes up for three of the extra survivors in this season. There is probably one more double elimination day coming up.

Slavakion 03-23-2005 06:32 PM

Forgot it was on tonight. :(
Recap, anyone?

ShaniFaye 03-23-2005 06:35 PM

James fucked on the reward and immunity challenge...fortunately Steph kicked ass on the reward and Ulong won that....but they once again went to tribal. They are down to three

James was voted out

*Nikki* 03-23-2005 06:39 PM

Steph is the best female player I have ever seen on there. She really deserves to win!

ShaniFaye 03-23-2005 06:43 PM

Im sorry to me Angie kicked ass....she was a HUGE asset in the challenges

Steph out and out lied to Bobby Jon tonite about who she voted for last week

yeah but she totally screwed herself over tonight.

if she was going to go with james, she should've stuck with him all the way... then there would've been a chance he could stick around and be her ally, but to turn on him AFTER she blew her promise to bobby john... now he knows not to trust her, so she's left with no one. she better pray that there's a merge before the next tribal council or she's a gonner.

Slavakion 03-23-2005 07:04 PM

They should let Ulong lose itself down to nothing. No merger. That would be a new twist!

grendel 03-23-2005 07:59 PM

i like steph, but there's no way that any of the folks from ulong that make it as far as the merger will last... koror will vote those last couple of ulong folks out in no time, i suspect.

how would they get rid of the last two people? lol

jalora 03-23-2005 08:02 PM

I am now hopelessly addicted to this show. The strange double-elimination episode last week did it for me.

Fremen 03-23-2005 10:28 PM

Damn, Steph is hot!
Too bad she went against BJ. He seems to be a good candidate to go to the final three.
She would be too, if he can get over her dumbass lie and they team-up.

Steph truly is one of the best female competitors ever. Angie was pretty good too mind you, but remember that episode where they had to wear the weight filled backpacks and trudge around in the water? It was Angie that bowed out and Steph stayed till the end.

She is also hot as hell!

Otherwise a decent episode, my wife was so happy that they won reward and she was going for them to win immunity too.

That lake was amazing, i'd love to go there. I'd read about it, and seen pictures of the jellyfish before in a couple of diving magazines.

Umm... well... the final two could go to an individual immunity challenge. And the last one would just lose since that tribe lost immunity. (Yes of course I thought it through! :p )

Locke7 03-24-2005 07:46 PM

First off the Steph voting thing. I've been thinking about it for a while, and I just can't come up with how it made any sense. She could have shown both Ib and BobbyJ great allegience by voting out James in the first vote. I mean cmon, she knows they are both voting for him, just go with them and it's all good. Especially seeing as how she was just going to vote for him to leave if it was a tie. This way, now BJ won't trust her, and Ib will find out the first time she voted for him... I just don't get it.

But I think they may merge right away next week, and if they do, don't be so sure that the other tribe will just get rid of them right away. Usually the tribes are very close in numbers, but this time, anybody from koror that would like an alliance could go with one or more of the ulong group. they will be hoping for anything.

I just don't know, this is such an interesting survivor. A team hasn't lost this much before. We'll see some "twists" soon I'm sure.
