What is the ending to Million Dollar Baby?

Here's the deal. I will probably never see Million Dollar Baby. I don't watch all that many movies and this one will probably go by unwatched. I have heard several people talk about this and saw something that disability groups are protesting this. Anyone care to tell me what the ending actually is and what all the hoopla is about.

Thanks in advance.

Insane

The ending is that she is paralyzed, lying in a hospital bed and she wants Clint Eastwoods character to "pull the plug" on her. It's getting various groups mad because of the whole euthanasia aspect of it.

For more detail, read Movie Spoiler for the film - MILLION DOLLAR BABY. This is my favorite website for when I see a good trailer, but don't feel like seeing the movie.

There are couple of key things happening at the end that many people don't get. It isn't just that the Swank character was paralyzed, she was a quadraplegic, which for a professional athlete, whose entire being was wrapped up in how her body performed, was at that point in her life, a form of torture. She lost her leg to gangrene. She tried to kill herself by biting her own tongue off. If she had been able to wait longer, she might have recovered.

Frankie (Eastwood) cared for her like a surrogate daughter. He was a devout Catholic for whom killing was an anathema, and he carried the guilt of having become estranged from his own daughter and that of allowing a friend to be blinded. He was, for both of these reasons, overprotective of this boxer/new daughter. He couldn't stand to see her in pain, even to the point of being willing to give up his own life to do what she said she needed. His choice destroyed what was left of him.

This wasn't a movie that promotes euthenasia, it takes no postion at all. These are two well drawn, specific characters who did what they had to do in that situation.

I thought it was among the best movies of last year. It has compelling characters, every performance is spot-on, the physical performances are convincing--you'll believe that Swank is a top-notch boxer--and there is real chemistry between Swank and Eastwood. There's even a nice subplot that enhances the main plot thematically.

It's a character-driven movie, a lot like Sideways and Lost in Translation in that it's not about the plot, it's about how the characters interact with each other.

It's a great show; everyone I talked to that saw it thought it was excellent.
Dumb, no plot, unoriginal? I guess if you want bombs and sex it may be, but I can't see how anyone would think that way about this movie.

Go watch the show.

Now, time for some lemon pie.

haha, on the nine inch nails website, Trent Reznor writes about some songs of which which were leaked. After he writes about people who ruin other's fun by spoiling the anticipation of his release, he says something to the effect of "By the way, he kills her (in case you haven't seen million dollar baby)."

I went in with no expectations and very little fore-knowledge of the plot, it turned out to be really good. The story is disappointing, but the movie was exteremely well done and worth it just for the range of emotions you get taken through while watching it.
