I know this is an old movie, but for some reason it's slipped under my radar this whole time. I just wanted to say how much I loved the movie. Great story, excellent acting, and it really is a good show of good vs. evil. De Niro played an excellent bad guy too. Anyways, I liked it, anyone else have any good/bad views on it? If you can even remember it? lol

Yes! One of my favourite movies of all time! It was one of the first movies I ever watched that had the "bad guys" as protagonists, and made them human. Also, the lack of distinction between protagonists and antagonists gives me a raging hardon. The action is absolutely badass too, as are all of the actors in it. Two thumbs and two big toes up!

I can't believe this is considered an "old movie". Cripes it wasn't even 10 years ago yet...

It is definately an excellent film.

If I remember correctly Heat is loosely based on a film that was made in Hong Kong...

Right on! Heat is a great flick, bar none. De Niro and Pacino are spectacular. I was rooting for De Niro's character the entire time. Chalk one up for the protagonists.

Man, Heat's already nine years old? Can't be. That would make me...wait...no...

Great movie! One of the few that cast the antagonists in a sympathetic manner; I rooted for DeNiro's character in the end, practically begged him to just leave town with his girl and forget about getting revenge on Wayngro. The scene when DeNiro's character found his friend Trejo in a bad state, and complied with his wishes to kill him because his wife was dead, almost made me cry. I liked all the characters and the actors, with one exception: Ashley Judd characterization of Charlene? as Val Kilmer's wife. I think she's a lousy actor, and that terrible dye job didn't help her case.

Yep, excellent flick...I remember seeing it at the movies when it came out and being blown away. De Niro is awesome. I have yet to catch up with Michael Mann's latest film, 'Collateral', but will do so real soon.

The car chase scenes in Heat are definitely some of the best around. Love to see two amazing actors in their prime and a great story as well.

might watch it completely one of these days. Have seen the end two or three time and small bits and pieces. This was the film with Val Kilmer that involved a robbery somehow, correct?
and 1991 is not old - classics like Way down East and The General (1920 and 1925) would qualify but anything after 1955 generally does not falls under that term in my opinion.

Yes. one of the best ever. It's one of the few movies I've purchased on DVD. And Yes Speed_Gibson, it is the one with Val Kilmer as a bank robber, but I think he was also some sort of robber in some movie with Kim Basinger many years ago. She was an ex-con or something like that. I can't think of the name of the movie, but that is not Heat.

The bank shootout scene is one of the best ever, true, but I really liked the opening bank truck robbery. It was a really great way to introduce the characters, and a great way to wrap the audience right into the story. I felt like I knew what was going on right from the beginning.

Are you guys aware that there is/was a theory that DeNiro and Pacino were never actually on camera at the same time? I've lost track of the sites, but someone out there on the interweb has theorized that they refused to share the stage, so they had to film the scenes the two shared with doubles. Its why you never actually see both their faces at the same time in the famous "coffee house chat" scene. Interesting. I'll have to look up those sites again...

I agree with the tide of approval. It is one of my top five movies.
