Team America: World Police

Has anyone here caught the sneak preview for this, and if so, what did you think. Also, who else here is looking forward to seeing this movie. Im a huge fan of south park and cant wait fot this movie to hit theaters.

Tralls 10-12-2004 01:50 PM

Definitely looking forward to it. South Park is an amazing show and so was the movie!

"Where were you when they built the ladder to heaven?"

Bobaphat 10-12-2004 02:34 PM

I am always up for a good political satire. looking forward too it.

Redjake 10-12-2004 02:59 PM

puppets and animatronics scare the living shit out of me. I almost vomit in fear when the tv spots come on. I'll skip this one :)

radioguy 10-12-2004 03:34 PM

i want to see it but will probably wait for it to come out on dvd. i haven't been real interested in puppets since fraggle rock. :) it's not that big of a draw for me.

klo 10-12-2004 06:07 PM

I want to see this, but it seems like a waste of time and money. Decisions, decisions.

3zos 10-12-2004 08:44 PM

/. review

i saw a clip on vh1 (dunno why i was watching vh1, i guess it was because it was a behind the scenes of team america), specifically the vomit scene.. perhaps im too simplistic in my humor, but ill be damned if it wasnt one of the single most hilarious bits ive ever seen. i dont have terribly high hopes for the movie, but based on that scene alone, ill see it :p

high_jinx 10-12-2004 09:50 PM

a friend of mine saw it and can't start yapping about it... and he says definitely in the theater, not the video

Jeff 10-12-2004 10:46 PM

I'm looking forward to it. Looks too ridiculous to not be funny.

GeePeeS'r 10-13-2004 04:42 AM

Apparently I don't agree with the majority here. I like South Park, and think it is hilarious. But this movie looks like the biggest wast of money and time in the history of cinema. The commercial are hideous, and look so cheesy, I can't imagine sitting through it for 1 and a half hours.

Come one - how corny is the "Hey terrorists, terrorize this!" line?? Anyway....

Cynthetiq 10-13-2004 09:17 AM

i have a screener pass tomorrow... i'll post a review when i get home.

Ace_O_Spades 10-14-2004 09:02 PM

I just saw it... and I have to say that it's one of the funniest movies i've seen in a really long time

a really long time

Its supposed to be corny. Its satire....

Confederate 10-14-2004 10:54 PM

Just got done seeing it myself. I am a huge south park fan, and that made this movie funnier. There were a ton of things in this movie that mae me laugh because it was a south park joke. Esp. the montage thing. Honestly by the end of the movie I wasn't conscious of the fact I was watching puppets, it just kinda went to the back of my mind. I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a laughable entertaining movie. I give it about an 8/10

JackBurton 10-15-2004 03:30 AM

This film looks mad! I can't wait to see it. Matt and Trey are brillant. Gotta love how they stick it up these celebs who go blah blah on the political trail.

The south park site has some neat behind the scenes pics.

cardfrek 10-15-2004 05:07 AM

Team America! F**K Yeah!

inharmony 10-15-2004 05:16 AM

I'm going to go see it. No real high expectations here...just for fun.

quadro2000 10-15-2004 07:12 AM

One of the dumbest movies I've ever seen.

I laughed my ass off.

nospam 10-15-2004 07:29 AM

I'm going to see it tomorrow...looking forward to it.

Cynthetiq 10-15-2004 09:48 AM

totally stupid.. but funny as hell. I had a good time watching it.

We need a montage... o/~

Spoiler: I thought it was hysterical that Alec Baldwin as the leader of the FAG The puppet sex was over the top... I can't believe that they could get puppets into that many positions.

mkultra 10-15-2004 03:12 PM

I'm going to go see it tonight with a bunch of friends. Coporate Motherfucker gave it a great review, and its scoring really well. There was a great frak thread that had a bunch of links about it if anyone is interested.

Rawrr 10-15-2004 06:36 PM

holy shit just got done seeing it.. haven't laughed that hard in a while.

Willravel 10-15-2004 08:30 PM

I honestly thought that it was worse than the worst south park episode. The satire was so obvious, it made it unfunny. The gratuidous scenes with puppets were of bad taste even for those who made a horse that sucked dick (which I thought was actually kinda funny). I was really expecting more.

sinjien 10-15-2004 10:08 PM

.......damn. I'm sorry to hear that you didnt like it 'willravel'. Never saw an episode of southpark that i didnt like so i know the movie will have me in tears. Saw the snippet on MTV and that had me cracking up...oh yeah, i'm definitely looking forward to it

Mr. Spacemonkey 10-15-2004 10:21 PM

I know it'll be hilarious. All that I have to know is that it's from the creators of South Park to know it'll be good.

maleficent 10-15-2004 10:42 PM

I was reading People Magazine on the flight tonite, and they had an article on that movie - -it describes a scene with Michael Moore that sounds hysterical, and of course Sean Penn wrote them a letter complaining...

This is a must see movie... :)

Nimbletoe 10-16-2004 12:32 AM

Oh man. Seriously, you must see this movie if you like South Park. Holy crap.

mfe 10-16-2004 05:07 PM

Just got back from this movie. I laughed the whole time...and 3 or 4 scenes had me in tears. However, my girlfriend (who loves South Park) was not impressed. I think I owe her a chick flick now

Leefy 10-16-2004 08:40 PM

I couldn't breathe during the sex scene. Great movie...if you think it looks stupid, it is, but in a good, funny way :)

mirevolver 10-16-2004 08:43 PM

Great movie. The puppet sex was the funniest scene. And I definatly liked the three types of people speech. The best way to describe it is South Park, but with puppets.

punx1325 10-16-2004 09:48 PM

Fantastic movie! So simple yet so funny, just alone the puppet sex scene was worth the money.

Moskie 10-17-2004 07:19 AM

oh man, this movie is hilarious. I might even have to get the soundtrack. Parker and Stone can write songs like no other.

I saw it last night. It sucked. I was so disappointed, I was almost angry. Tired jokes that I'd already heard a million times before, nothing new. I expected better for all the money that was pissed away on it. The songs were even lame and uncreative, and I usually love their songs! At about the one hour mark I was thinking, "Holy shit, when will this end?” I wanted to walk out. I mean, how many times can they make fun of Alec Baldwin and have it be funny?

I love SP. I loved Basketball, and especially the SP movie, but this pile of garbage was just that... a waste.

Trite, lame, tired, disappointing…

asudevil83 10-17-2004 04:07 PM

the movie itself was alright....it did have some pretty hysterical parts though.

my biggest gripe was the love story. it didnt need it, and it got old and boring FAST.

the movie wasnt nearly as funny as the southpark movie, but i'll still give it a B. it wasnt original enough to warrent an A. most of the funny bits were just ripped off of southpark.

Stompy 10-17-2004 07:35 PM

Hilarious movie.

If you're a fan of SP, and more importantly, their other movies (Orgazmo, Baseketball, SP movie), then there's no reason you wouldn't like this.

The songs are amazing, the jokes are set up so that they make fun of cliche action flicks and current politics in America. Everyone gets made fun of: liberals, conservatives, you name it.

As usual with these guys, everything is so over the top, but in a good way.

10/10 simply because it's one of the funniest movies that's come out in a LONG time and will probably be years before another one is as good as this.

jamessh1 10-17-2004 08:52 PM

I really wanted to see this but my GF suckered me into seeing "shall we dance". Its good to hear this movie has lived up to the hype apparently, and even the stingy local paper movie reviewers have given this flick excellent reviews. can't wait to see this.

Who let Alec Baldwin in here?

It's like they reached inside my mind and pulled out my idea of the funniest movie ever. So many scenes, so many lines, I think I might have to see it again in the theatres.

Gos see it on the big screen, you'll be glad you didn't wait until DVD.

I didn't even see your post before I posted. I totally agree.

crossova 10-18-2004 12:31 PM

i originally did not want to see this but the more times i see the Kim Jong scene when he fumbles the word 'inevitable' it cracks me up

theo5222 10-18-2004 02:40 PM

Does anyone know where I can find the theme song to this movie?

sadistikdreams 10-18-2004 03:21 PM

I recommend this hilarious romp.

Seriously, go see this movie.

Plus, all the songs in the movie are on the soundtrack.

Halx 10-18-2004 03:31 PM

We need a montage!

There were a couple parts where I couldn't stop laughing.. great comedy. My dad enjoyed it too.

Lestat 10-18-2004 09:29 PM

America, fuck yeah!

That song was cracking up everyone at the office that seen the movie.

Any P2P should have it in mp3 format. Kazaa has it for sure since that's where I got it.

Matt Damon. MATT DAMON!

Bim 10-24-2004 10:33 AM

This was the first time i was brought to tears in a theater in a very long time. When they hit you with the america. . . FUCK YEAH, it just floored me. and the puppet puking and sex didnt help either. I gotta go see it again.

aberkok 10-24-2004 11:55 AM

Hilarious. I liked the "signal" Gary gave in the Jeep and then right after the terrorist flying towards the windshield in slo-mo.

Did anyone else notice the chauffeur was a woman puppet with a moustache?

Stompy 10-24-2004 01:46 PM

"Kim Jong Il plans to unleash 9/11 times 2,356..."

*gasp* "9/11 times 2,356.. that's.."

"Yes... no one knows what that is."

Or the 9/11 times 100 one...

"Oh my god, that's, that's..."
"Yes, its nine, one-thousand, one-hundred"

lol

I also pretty much fell out of my seat everytime Sboswell or whatever is his name was was going nuts in his chair back and forth, lol

Church 10-24-2004 08:09 PM

haha, check out this post from the IMDB forums...

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0372588/board/nest/12600491

This guy is trying to say how racist the movie is, but I think he's 7 or something. Just listen to one of his points...

3. Movie stars. Since I am going to be a movie star (right now my mom is paying
for acting and rapping lessons so I can be a multi talent star like M and M or Will Smith) I took this personally. FAce it even Matt Parker wouldnt be here if it wrent for MOVIE STARS. Movie stars are the greatest heros the world has ever known and they are also some of the only ones speaking against the attrocoties of the Bush Regime and capitalism.
HAHAHAHA

kutulu 10-25-2004 01:56 PM

I really want to see it but since my daughter was born last week I'm pretty much housebound for the next few months.

For anyone who doesn't know, it's a spoof of the cliche Jerry Bruckheimer action flick. Gary's character is loosly based on Tom Cruise in Top Gun.

yoyoyobro 10-25-2004 03:57 PM

Liked the movie. Loved the theme song!!!!!!! THought it was a great satire film! Got a bigger kick out of it after I heard that some of the actors especially Sean Penn are angry about being featured in the film. Really Funny

Xenomorph 10-25-2004 10:30 PM

I thought it was hilarious. The obviousness of a lot of the jokes didn't bother me very much. They were so well executed that they got me in laughing fits.

The real treat of the movie came to me only about 10 minutes in. Anyone who has been duped into seeing Rent knows what I'm talking about. I laughed until my chest ached and my eyes burned from bawling and then at some of the slow parts of the movie later on when I thought about it again.

I also appreciated how they were relentless to both the left and the right. I like a good laugh at people who different politics than I do, but I like one at my own expense sometimes too.

Grace, Too 10-26-2004 11:17 AM

I also thought the song from "Lease" was quite funny. I don't believe people who posted on this site and said they didn't laugh. I have a hard time accepting that. I mean, how could you not? Even if you were born with the biggest pickle up your ass, I just don't know how you could withold laughter at the puking part, or dicks fuck assholes. I loved the songs, I loved the wit, and I loved the cheap humour. It was a funny funny movie.
