Another 'Harry Potter' Character to Die

I remember hearing that same thing about the fourth book, that one of the main characters would die, and i heard rumours it was Ron. It ended up to be Cedric, who i didn't think was too big because we only saw him in the 4th book and didnt really get to know him. Then there was supposed to be a very big death in the 5th one, and although Serious Black was a pretty big character, and ill miss him, it wasn't anyone bug from the school like Ron, Hermione, Dumbledore, etc....
So, I don't really have any clue but it seems to me it might actually be someone pretty big this time, such as Ron, but you never know... :hmm: |
Yeah, I was pretty much thinking what Palamidian said, it will probably be a major character from the new book, but not one of the REAL main characters (Harry, Ron, Hermione, Hagrid, etc.) But, then again, who really knows?

I can't wait for the next book to be published or for the next movie to come out. I bet she's gonna off Percy, that guy is a suck up prick. |
Wishful thinking there, eh? Well I'm just praying she doesn't knock off Hermione. I mean, I like the books and all but if Hermione goes..that's one less movie featuring Emma Watson. Let's just consider her forbidden fruit, mmkay?
|
I think the 'core' is pretty safe (Harry, Ron, Hermione), at least until the last book. The interpretation is off in the original post, however: the question was "any more characters", and the answer was "yes". So why do they say "that character", as if she said it would be only one?
I think they'll be a few significant deaths, and perhaps even carnage (lots of NPCs) over the next two books. |
i think hagrid will die
|
My guess would be one of the Weasley twins.
|
Maybe it'll be Harry?
|
Unlikely until the last book, when all bets are off.
If I had to guess, I'd say either Hagrid or Dumbledore die in this one. If Dumbledore buys the farm in this one, leaving Harry to face Voldemort alone in the last one, that'd be pretty cool. |
Talking about dead character, is Sirius Black really dead? As far as i understood, Sirius felt the other side of the mirror after been hit by a spell, but is it sure that he died.
THe first time i rode it i there was no doubt in my mind that he was dead but then a few months ago i rode it in french and kind of stubble at the page where he "died". I re-rode it 3 of 4 time and then i wasnt sure if he was really dead. What made me say that is the sentence that was the sentence that say that harry realised that Sirius was no more because if he was still alive he would have made everything in his power to come back to Harry If he isn't really dead, it would be a very big moment for one of the other books Anyone have any idea on the subject? |

My bets are on Hagrid or Dumbledore - more likely Dumbledore, if I had to pick.
|
bloodyhawks...Sirius is dead. There was a subtle joke in the method of his death. He fell through the doorway that was covered by a thin curtain, i.e., he "Passed beyond the veil".
|
Rowling supposedly went into crying fits about killing Sirius, although we never actually saw a corpse so I still have my doubts. She gave us a lifeless body with Cedric, she's left the door open with Sirius for an Obi-Wan force ghost or something, at least.
Dumbledore probably needs to die before Harry can have his final confrontation with Voldy. As long as Dumbledore lives, Voldemort isn't the all-powerful evil that Rowling would probably like him to be for the conclusion of the series. He's got my bet, although Rowling might just play it safe and whack one of the secondary adult characters. The real question is the identity of the halfblood prince. I had a pretty elaborate prediction that it would be Dudley but Rowling came out and overtly said that it isn't him. Maybe Malfoy is secretly a halfblood? Neville? |
Yeah, Neville seems to be building up to something big. She can't kill Harry. What would she call the next book? Ron Weasley and the Something or Other? In my opinion, she can't kill Ron or Hermione, because they have a romantic future she has spent too much time subtley building.
Could be Neville, maybe Dumbledore. Right now my money is on it being a professor. Maybe Snape? |

I have to say I agree with all those who said Hagrid. My first thought was the Weasley twins, but I don't think the Weasley twins are not important enough to make any deal of killing off. Could be Dumbledore, though I doubt it.
|
Neville couldn't be the Half-blood prince, he is a full blooded wizard. Both his parents were wizards. Has to be someone else.
|
Harry is at least safe till the last book. I read Rawling state that she can promise him being safe at least till the last book.
|
I love the fact that this series has introduced hundreds of thousands of children to the joy of reading. However, I can't see the attraction for adults. After all the hype I tried reading one of them, and whilst I definitely saw how it would be very engaging for a child (I would have loved it as a kid), it didn't do anything for me as an adult reader.

How 'bout they kill off EVERYONE!? Wouldn't that be fantastic?
|
Mephisto, I felt the same way you did when the series was just starting to get insanely popular. I read through about a third of the first book and it just struck me as escapist fare aimed at children. The poor little bullied boy becomes a wizard...gee whiz, wouldn't that be swell? I couldn't pick the stuff up until the resuergence that came last summer with the third movie. It really was a labor to get through the first book, but by the third I was engaged enough to enjoy the series to its current level of completion.
It moves beyond the purely kiddie stuff as the series progresses. The story is accessible to children on one level but I doubt even mature readers will catch absolutely everything that's going on. |
i was very skeptical about the books being any good for adults, but was finally convinced of their worth after a number of good recommendations. the first two books were entertaining, but like others have said, the series really picked up with the third book.
if i had to take a guess at who dies, i would agree with others and say dumbledore. he is a great character, but i think setting up harry vs. voldemort mano-a-mano is key for the final book. i would be very surprised if any of the key characters are not around for book seven. |
I'm going to go with Snape.
As the wizard war heats up, I bet he'll go down in act of sacrifice for the good of them all. |
Nooooo they cant kill snape....I love snape....well maybe I love snape cause Alan Rickman plays him in the movies lol
I never read the books until I met Dave..all the guys at work talked about them all the time and how good they were....I just had no interest....but Dave...well he can be very persuasive...so I read them...I was hooked from the first book...I have to say I didnt like Order of the Phoenix very much....the whole tone of the book wasnt my taste |
I aggree I didn't like the tone of that book either. I enjoyed it nonetheless, but it did bother me.
|
I think the tone of OTP upset so many people because the characters are more like fugitives than students, at first. It was the darkest book yet.
Also, that whole bidness with Umbridge and the quill scratching of Harry just irked me because he didn't do anything about it. Btw, I agree, Rickman owns the Snape character. |
Can't wait for it to come out any idea what month next year?
|
Rickman as Snape was the only casting decision Rowling insisted on. She told the movie producers that she had written Snape in the book with the mental image of him playing the role from Day 1.
His death would almost be too expected, although Voldy and the rest of the Death Eaters have made it very clear that his defection puts him high on the hit list. I would rather see his character continue to have serious issues about helping his childhood nemesis' kid for a cause that he knows to be good. |
