Toughest Movie Quote Challenge Ever!
Ok my fello movie comrades....I have a challenge for you all. I do not have the answer but maybe one of you will.
I have searched high and low to the outer reaches on the Internet with no luck. So someone will either know it or we'll never know the answer. The quote is : "Make you strong.....like bull!" I believe it was said with a Russian accent. The answer is NOT "There is Something About Mary". It was said in that movie by Ben Stiller, but thats not the movie we are all thinking about. Now, where did this quote come from? Some things I did find that may help. It might have completely originated from The Rock and Bullwinkle Show and Boris is talking about Rocky. But I've never watched it so I KNOW for sure, its not that. But common, can't you just hear it being said in a russian voice in some movie? Say it outloud to yourself. Ahhh yes....I see the brains working! Help me end my suffering and torment! Thanks the help! This has been racking my brain for about 2 years now. |
I can hear that, and I quote it myself from time to time, though just "Strong like bull." I'm beginning to think it's not from a movie at all, just one of those phrases.
Somebody out there in InternetLand knows. Please almighty Internet God....send us the answer!
Sorry.
On another note, I could quote from the Lord Humungus, the Lord of the Wasteland, the Ayatolla of Rock 'n Rolla. But I guess that isn't really what you're looking for. |
Damn I just did a 5 minute google ubersearch and got nil....
However I have a vision of the big indian in "one flew over the coocoos nest" but I'm sure thats wrong. |
Strong like bull,
Smart like table... Wasn't it from the Simpsons? |

Lets see....a friend mentioned the quote to me awhile ago...roughly 1-2 years ago. Every since then, I've been trying to find out where we've heard it. I'm pretty sure its a movie. Something a little more common. Maybe the 80's early 90's. I'm pretty sure its a Russian who says it. Based on the research I've done, it originated from The Rocky and Bullwinkle show (the original one). Boris is talking about Rocky. It might have even come from something earlier like your friend suggested.
The question is, where did *we* hear it? It's gotta be from 80 or 90's. Its not Zoonlander because that was pretty recent and I've heard it way before that. Anyway, are you sure its from Rocky 4? I remember watching parts of it wondering if its in that movie but never heard it. I need to sit and watch the whole thing. Do you remember which part specifically? I've also thought it might be Arnold or something when he's played a Russian several time but it wasn't. Just one of those quotes that sticks in your brain and you MUST find out where it came from. You guys rule for helping! |
I don't remember Rocky IV or Zoolander that well and I couldn't find any online scripts of them. I checked numerous websites but not all of them.
Of all the answers on this page, the Rocky IV one makes the most sense. It may of originated before that (as Bones said) but you said that it was with a Russian accent. |
I'm going to officially second Rocky IV as the source. I definitely remember hearing that around the schoolyard when the movie came out. And it definitely fits...

you really like your movies hey fellas?
Danny Thomas?? That's going way back. Maybe Uncle Miltie said it.
So did we figure it out or not?
nope. nobody knows for sure. ive checked every where too. :( it still haunts me.
Something tells me it's also appeared in Rocky and Bullwinkle cartoons. I can hear Natasha saying it to Boris. But what the hell do I know? Maybe it's the accent. But you're right, I can hear it in my head as clear is if I heard it 10 minutes ago.
somebody mentioned that maybe it was "Dances with Wolves". Does anyone have it to verify if you got 3 hours to kill! Thanks!
Oh, by the way. I've had that damn quote going through my mind these past few hours. Thanks a lot, man. Now I need to know where it comes from.

I thought he said "He is like a piece of iron" |
thats exactly what he says! nice work! and in "moscow on the hudson", he says "strong like russian bear". its still a mystery. Im inclined to move towards an Indian saying it now just because it would make complete sense. Im going to rent "Dances with Wolves" and see if its that. Totally sucks. Nobody knows where they heard but they know they heard it. *sigh*
Could it be from a Red Bull commerical?
robbie coltrane says, in a russian accent " strong like bull" in whatever bond film he's in. I think. I'm basing from memory, but I'm pretty certain.
Is it in the new xXx movie with Vin Desiel?
Great now I got it stuck in my head too!
The indians in Dances With Wolves wouldn't call them bulls.
no clue
Did anyone ever find the answer to this question? Just curious...
we actually started a new thread about this i think.
Thanks, where's the new thread located??
haven't been on in awhile but there was a thread that was about 5 pages long. In short, never received the answer. Just lots of guesses and what not. I'm still searching. :(
