Charlize Theron as Aeon Flux

Production has started on Aeon Flux which stars Charlize Theron. I hear there is a picture floating around the net of Charlize in the Aeon Flux costume. Has anyone seen it?

Here's some info on the movie:

http://www.themovieblog.com/archives...aeon_flux.html

Quote:

ComingSoon.net reports: Filming on Paramount's Aeon Flux started today at Studio Babelsberg in Germany. The Karyn Kusama-directed film is based on the futuristic MTV animated series created by Peter Chung.

Aeon Flux is set 1,000 years in the future, when disease has wiped out the population save for one city. The acrobatic title character (Charlize Theron) is the top operative in an underground rebellion, but when sent on a mission to kill the government's leader, she uncovers a secret making her question if she's on the right side. Frances McDormand will play the Handler, the leader of the rebellion.

Charlize? Knaw thats all wrong for her role.

Asta!!

K-Wise 08-24-2004 03:15 PM

They're talking about it on this site I found on Google...guy says he thinks Sigourney Weaver would be better for the role. I like the idea of her playing it a LOT more. She won't though.

She'll need to lose weight, dye her hair, and act tough.
She could probably handle it. :)

Btw, what's up with those annoying embedded boxes, K? :hmm:

K-Wise 08-24-2004 03:36 PM

Hmm I never thought about that.

Asta!!

Journeyman 08-24-2004 03:41 PM

Holy fucking hotness, Batman!!!

Btw, anyone who thinks that Charlize can't squeeze into different bodies/looks for different roles needs to take a look at Monster. I'll admit that her cheeks have always had a sensual fullness that is too much to look like Chung's cartoon portrayal of Aeon Flux, but I think she'll do just fine if she works hard at getting cut (see Edward Norton in American History X -> Fight Club).

K-Wise 08-24-2004 03:49 PM

What about whats her face from The Matrix?

Asta!!

justin@knac 08-25-2004 01:31 AM

I actually saw the costume

Some time ago, can't quite recall. But it looks pretty much the same. Black strappy thing with less skin showing than the original character. She also dyes her hair or wears a wig.

bundy 08-25-2004 02:51 AM

i'm sure Charlize Theron would do a great job... but i'd rather see Signourney Weaver or maybe even Maggie Cheung.

Tophat665 08-25-2004 03:29 AM

Hmm, Seems like a role made for Carrie Anne Moss. Flip side of that is that she would probably not want to do another role like this until she has a breaktrough movie in some type other thand Science Fiction (romantic comedy, f'rinstance) lest she be type cast, Not complaining about Charlize, though, they could have gotten a bimbo like Shakira with no acting talent.

K-Wise 08-25-2004 02:49 PM

Some bimbo like Shakira with no talent?! So you sayin all latina's are bimbos with no talent?!! You racist bastard! BURN IN HELL!!

How about Uma Thurman? She could pull it off, no?

whocarz 08-26-2004 02:00 AM

Ugh, I hated that stupid cartoon. I can't say I'm waiting with baited breath for this one. However, Charlize Theron in tight leather clothes is interesting, to say the least.

-Ever- 08-26-2004 07:37 AM

So they're actually going through with it huh? I remember reading a thread about this a while back.

I really hope they stick to the original underground feel of the film and are only using Theron to get some funding. I loved the original animation, Spoiler: you can download most of em on BearShare ;)

I almost think someone like Jennifer Connolly could do it better. Tall, large breasted, dark hair, small stomach (well, it could at least be made smaller with some workouts before shooting...) The only problem is that she's not known to be anything but 'soft', so they'd have to really show her tons of the original footage to toughen her up. I'm interested in seeing how they do Theron's hair. I hope they make it look like the original style:

My list of the best choices for the role in Aeon Flux:
Adriana Lima
Bridget Moynahan
Famke Janssen
Gisele Bundchen (with hair dyed)
Jessica Alba
Jolene Blalok
Kiera Knightly
Kim Smith
Lara Flynn Boyle*
Penelope Cruz

* Top choce for resemblance

She's got the skinny body for it, too. Just needs to put on some muscle. :)

Here's a recent picture of her out and about with Stuart Townsend. I guess this is what her hair is going to look like:

stonegrody 08-26-2004 02:57 PM

Ooh, how about Kate Beckinsale? She might not do a great job but I'd pay to see her in that outfit

Willravel 08-26-2004 09:33 PM

Beckensale has a lot of explaining to do after Van Helsing. I cried a thousand tears after watching that movie. Then I badmouthed it online! Neeways, she needs to do some serious work that actually involves her acting talents, not her melons or ass for chrisake. I'd hate to see a good actress ruined by a script that was written by blind seeing-eye dogs. Blind seeing-eye dogs that were really wearwolfs. Wearwolfs that sucked. You get the picture.
What I'm hoping for in this movie is writing on par with the original series. This will be the first anime made into live action (I think). This will set the bar for possible DragonBall, Escaflowne, Gundam, Cowboy Bebop, and other huge anime movies switching to the live action world.
I'm gonna put there heads on pikes if Aeon Flux is bad.

Gabbyness 08-27-2004 02:34 PM

I'm sure Theron will be awesome.

moonstrucksoul 08-27-2004 03:04 PM

Aeon Flux should stay a cartoon, just give us a full length, high quality cell animated film. please.

What a horrible horrible idea to make a movie out of Aeon Flux, good god man why? The animated Aeon Flux is so amazing, how could they even imagine adapting that for a mass-market intended-blockbuster film? A 98% chance says that Charlize couldn't possibly give a fuck and has never seen an episode of Aeon Flux and is only doing this for a big fat paycheck.

How are they going to incorporate Aeon dying at the end of almost every episode?

I used to be excited that they were making films from comic books and obscure nerdy things but now after the last slew of summer films, no thanks. Just stay away. I won't go see it. Don't bother. What's next an Exorcist remake? oh wait.

Cynthetiq 08-27-2004 09:50 PM

MTV wants to make some major waves in the movie biz. They are partnering with their sister company Paramount in order to do it and Tom Freston president of MTV and now co CEO of Viacom is doing what he can to attract better scripts and talent to Paramount vis a vie the assets and options that MTV owns.

Heck after Hellboy, I'm surprised we have not seen a movie of that purple and yellow guy, The Maxx.

K-Wise 08-28-2004 03:23 AM

^ He kicks ass though...they might be able to pull THAT one off. And it's The Mask

not the mask (jim carrey guy) but the Maxx.. remember the MTV cartoon?

Sion 08-28-2004 08:43 AM

I nominate Michelle Yeogh, Naomi Watts or Linda Hamilton for the role.

Kate Beckinsale would make a great Dutchess Adm. Honor Harrington!

/oh yeah, big geek talking

Fremen 08-28-2004 05:33 PM

Hey, Cyn, you got to include a pic of The Maxx's impressive set of choppers when you show him off. :D

K-Wise 08-28-2004 08:47 PM

Damn I coulda sworn it was called The Mask...cause a that mask he wore but now that you bring it to my attention yer right. I knew what you were talking about though...I was obsessed with that show. I wish they made more episodes....The Head was okay but not nearly as good. MTV needs to bring back more Odditties....them and The State...maybe Liquid Television too.

Asta!!

Willravel 08-28-2004 08:55 PM

Can you imagine the Maxx's dental bills?

K-Wise 08-29-2004 02:34 AM

^ I don't think he cared for Dental...after all....he lived in a box.

MTV Animation was disbanded several years ago. I got to work with that group exclusively when Beavis and Butthead Does America was being made. Daria, Downtown, and Celebrity Deathmatch were the last of the group.

MTV Animation RIP.

billege 08-29-2004 09:29 PM

Yeah, why would they give us somethign original? I mean, when you can keep doing the already played out Real World and Road Rules and the Battle of the Sexes? I mean, if you can Keep. Beating. the. dead. horse. some more, why not? Every year there's a new crop of 13 year old girls turning 14, so their target audiance is renewed. Why waste money on odd shows that might not work. It seems a safe bet that the masses will still sit down and watch big kids (the entire casts of these reality shows) argue and fuck and drink? I mean, how could that ever get boring?

Thanks for reminding me about the Maxx, that was a great show. I can't believe I forgot about it.

K-Wise 08-29-2004 09:43 PM

The did start showing some cartoons on there for a lil while. Ya had Heatguy J which was really cool, the Spider Man cartoon (which they still show I think every sunday night all night long or something like that, and that hilarious ass cartoon 3rd South....man I wish they would show that again.

Reuters Story
Quote:

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Oscar-winning actress Charlize Theron has been injured on the Berlin set of the sci-fi action movie "Aeon Flux", forcing production to shut down indefinitely.

The delay could affect Theron's next project, "Class Action", which is scheduled to start filming early next year.

According to sources close to "Aeon Flux", 29-year-old Theron hurt her neck while performing stunts on a trampoline late last week. She was taken to a hospital for examination and flew back to Los Angeles on Tuesday, where she is expected to meet with her personal doctors.
Damn, maybe she didn't get limber enough or something. Might open up the role for Jennifer Connely, though :)

We need to reach an inside connection and push JC through the door!

K-Wise 09-02-2004 01:27 AM

If not JC then Joanna Going might get my pick. I don't know much about her acting abilities...I think she was in Phantoms or something but she definitely looks the role. A HELL of a lot more than Charlize....Charlize could never look the role to be honest.
