Favorite Dead film

I just saw news that Romero got the green light for "land of the dead", the fourth installment in the dead series. This is the greatest movie news Ive heard in a long time, if your a horror fan anyway.

I figured I might as well make a poll to see which of the three films you enjoy most. Night, Day, or Dawn.

I just hope its good. Night and Dawn were great, I found Day okay at best.

Regardless I'll be waiting to buy my ticket

No option for the Dawn remake? :)

Oh man, your right, completely forgot, let me see if I can fix that.

EDIT: Damn, only mods can do it, can someone put a dawn remake option please :)

HugAPug 07-23-2004 01:31 AM

I'm going to vote Night of the Living Dead (Remake) but my true vote is for the remake of Dawn.

Evil Dead?
Evil Dead 2?

? Completely different movies. Should a Dawn remake count considering is was nothing like the original?

Not a lot of zombie fans on the TFP i assume, hardly any votes, oh well.

espi 07-23-2004 01:18 PM

Can I vote for Festival Express? Or is that wrong kind of dead. ;)

CSflim 07-23-2004 02:52 PM

I think Dawn of The Dead was a remake in name only. It was
a) about zombies
b) set mostly in a mall
c) called Dawn of the Dead.
and thats it. Different plot. Different characters. Different ending. Different tone. Just plain different! Great movie...just not really a remake. (calling it Dawn of the Dead was probably a purely marketing decision)

My vote goes to the original Dawn.

I love all zombie movies. I don't care if it's Zombi 4, if it's got rotting carcasses biting peoples necks, I'll watch it. I chose Dawn of the Dead, but I definately enjoy the remake more. I found myself laughing a lot more, and it has much less slow parts. And I love the ending, very Italian zombie movie-esque.

Nikilidstrom 07-24-2004 11:44 AM

Day of the Dead is my hands down favorite. Anytime you can watch I guy getting his legs ripped off as he screams "choke on 'em", is a good time. Pure genious even.

brandon11983 07-24-2004 12:04 PM

I went with the one that started it all, Night of the Living Dead.

mattevil 07-24-2004 12:15 PM

how about return of the living dead that at least has a connection

...well not really. That isn't a Romero film.

RotLD series is comedy,(aside from number 3) whereas NotLD is serious, and although it may have references, it has nothing to do with eachother. I cant believe I and only one more person voted for Day of the Dead. Its even Romeros favorite :).

NOLD remake- seemed true to the original, yet with needed updates- its the one that I watch again and again

To me, if you really love a good Zombie flic, it just doesn't get any better than Day of the Dead. Not only do you get a really Nihilistic perspective of the future (which by itself sets a really creepy tone), you get good ol' fashion hang your intestines from a ceiling fan, beat you with your own amputated leg, tear your eyes from your sockets blood n' guts gore fest. If I don't see at least one set of intestines set free from the body they came in, it hasn't been a Zombie movie. I have to say that the Zombie & gore effects were better in Day than I have seen in any horror movie since. Todays CG just can't match the viceral look of all the crazy things FX crews created with everyday items (foam rubber, syrup, tubing, etc..) back in the 70's and 80's.

Tell me about it; a perfect example of this would be Resident Evil. Zombie movies are not about bullet time or running down the side of a building, or performing Matrix like moves, while the camera preforms a 360 degree turn around

Like you said, it has not been done better since Day of the Dead, hell, they even used real intestines :). CG has ruined horror movies, we dont need any more House of the Dead's or Resident Evil's, give me the old school horror. This is why Im excited about Romero getting the green light,

k1ng 07-27-2004 05:32 PM

Day of the Dead all the way, although I do like them all. Return of the Living Dead was good too, even though its not a Romero sequel.
