Comedians who are famous and highly unfunny

ok so i did a search and couldnt find anything on this.
Who do you think the worst comedians who made it big are?
i think my top one would have to be Cedrik the Entertainer who isnt funny at all. It boggles me how he got into all these movies and onto the steve harvey show (Yes Steve harvey sucks too, but still)
my other would probably have to be carrot top. Those collect commercials are just plain lame and hes a ugly SOB with an annoying voice.
so what do you all think?

warrrreagl 07-02-2004 08:00 PM

Adam Sandler. He's the kid in the sandbox who needs his ass kicked. And he's not funny.

Moobie 07-02-2004 08:09 PM

Bob Saget, though not really a comedian, he tries to be funny and just ends up needing to be shot.

I really dislike the particular brand of comedy that involves the afterthought/footnote. I'm not sure what you'd call it, but it's when someone says something mundane and then right after says something ironic or contradictory to what they just said really fast. I'm not sure why but the comics that do that just grate on my nerves.

I disagree with your picks, skinnymofo. I like 'em both. :)

My pick is Rosie O'Donnell. I don't like her stand-up.
Kevin James wasn't that funny to me, either.
He is on his show, though, imo.

bltzkriegmcanon 07-02-2004 09:40 PM

Roseanne. That fat bitch. Not fucking funny.

Lewis Black = funny. Jon Stewart = funny.

seretogis 07-02-2004 09:52 PM

Adam Sandler, Chris Rock, Ben Stiller.

gorilla 07-02-2004 10:06 PM

I dont care if he's a comic legend or not.. Rodney Dangerfield is the most annoying, non-funny person ever! I would rather listen to an entire Spice Girls CD than hear one of his "I dont get no respect" jokes. He sucks so bad. Caddyshack is one of my favorite comedies, until the part where he is making jokes. I'm glad I found this thread, I needed to let this out.

soccerchamp76 07-02-2004 10:48 PM

Roseanne, Rosie O'Donnell, Steve Harvey

skinnymofo 07-02-2004 11:01 PM

it would seem that so far, everyone pretty much has the same choices
thats pretty interesting considering this is just a small sample of people and everyone hates the big ones

khuct 07-03-2004 02:18 AM

that Janine Grafafalo (or whatever) chick....

I find there are a lot more funny male comedians than there are female

Stare At The Sun 07-03-2004 02:25 AM

I give Rodney Dangerfield a second vote.

As well as colin quin. That guy has to beg for people to laugh. His show is terrible, his shit on SNL was horrid, the man should just quit life.

Ditto.

Jerry Seinfeld. I hate him and his stupid TV show. I wish he'd walk into oncoming traffic, see his unavoidable end coming and stand there with that stupid canned-laughter expression he wears so much.

minusthesoul 07-03-2004 05:42 AM

Wanda Sykes, Rosie, Janine Garofolo, Ben Stiller, Jimmy Kimmel

jaco 07-03-2004 05:45 AM

Tom Green *thank god that fad went away* and all of the comedians that use racial comparisons for their entire act.

Harshaw 07-03-2004 05:58 AM

Gilbert Godfried, Carrot Top, and there was someone else. I don't remember who, but I remember quite clearly that all three should be beaten to a pulp.

Nikilidstrom 07-03-2004 06:36 AM

I agree totally with the Colin Quinn pick. I don't believe I have ever heard anything even remotely funny escape his pie hole. Anybody who thinks telling other people to "shut-up stupid" is funny, should be thrown into a padded cell, not given their own show.

God of Thunder 07-03-2004 07:38 AM

I'm going to be the outcast and say that I find Dangerfield hilarious, but maybe that's just me.

But, I'll second the vote for Seinfeld. Never thought he was funny. Everyone else on the show was funny but him.

I'll also second the vote for Lewis Black being funny. My wife & I have tickets to see him at the end of this month.

Ace_O_Spades 07-03-2004 09:23 AM

Steve Harvey and the other black comedians that do nothing but make racial jokes - you're not funny

that's probalby because you're male and thus have a harder time relating to women. i find female comedians (margaret cho immediatly springs to mind) all of the time.

Bim 07-03-2004 11:25 AM

I dont think pauly shore is funny, he more annoying then anything.

Moobie 07-03-2004 11:52 AM

I can't stand Andrew Dice Clay. Rodney is pretty funny in that I'm a really pathetic old horny guy kinda way.

I think Tom Green in funny to an extent, when he's not just messing with people.

That's what I can't stand about certain comedians. I think good comedians are those who are funny without singling out and making fun of people at their expense.

mattevil 07-03-2004 12:02 PM

Bobcat Goldthwait(sp?)
Carrot Top
Gilbert Gottfried
Adam Sandler
Roseanne
Rosie O'Donnell
Steve Harvey
Cedric the Entertainer
Pauly Shore
Colin Quinn
Jim Breuer
and comedians that are no longer funny but were once:
Eddie Murphy
Steve Martin

Same here.

Although, there are a few female comedians who are very funny, a large majority of their acts seem to revolve around "men are so stupid, my boyfriend/husband said the other day ______" add on a crappy punchline and repeat 20 times and there's their entire set.

I also despise people who resort to the same "joke" for months on end. For example, Judy Gold.

brianna 07-03-2004 01:03 PM

there are fewer funny female comedians because there are fewer female comedians, there are fewer female comedians because woman are not encouraged to be funny. to stereotype an entire gender as less funny than the other gender is simplistic. i happen to be very funny and also equipped with a working vagina.

I realize there are a bunch of funny female comedians, the show Last Comic Standing shows that. But many of the ones that are shown or glorified on TV fall into the catagories I stated which is a damn shame in my opinion.

Speaking of unfunny female comedians, Kathy Griffin just annoys the hell out of me.

Andy Dick isn't a female comedian, but he might as well be. He just gives off that gay vibe IMO. I'm not saying he isn't funny because I think he's gay, I just don't find him funny at all.

Andy dick vote seconded. Although I think his new show might be worth a few laughs, the assistant I think its called... the guy is a creep and i'm more scared of him than I am humored by him. Ugh.

crow_daw 07-04-2004 09:54 PM

Well my number one pick is also Carrot Top, he's just atrocious.

D.L. Hughley blows pretty much.

Other than that, I respect and like most stand up comics, those that are famous anyway.

I don't like the female comedians however.

Rdr4evr 07-04-2004 10:01 PM

Does Tom Green count. Someone needs to shoot him.

skyfire 07-04-2004 10:39 PM

I gotta disagree with the Robin Williams vote, his stand up is great. I will add a vote for Seinfeld however, his work has rarely made me laugh.

Btw, I love his comedy and think hes great, but I sure figured someone wouldve added Ron White by now.

PowerClown, are you HIGH?!? Steven Wright is hilarious!! His dry sense of humor is one of the best and he has perfected it over the years! I know I'm not alone in this opinion.

Who is it, exactly, that you find funny??

George Carlin can be pretty funny, albeit, he (like Denis Leary) is at his best in single/short doses...and "that dude who smashes watermelons" (Gallagher) has a pretty amusing stand-up, however, he is a bit dated now as he doesn't do as many shows and the "smashing" trademark of his, I believe, is retired, for the most part.

Perhaps they are before (or after) your time?? Open your mind because I think you're missing out on some awesome comedy!

I also don't get Bernie Mac, I watched a special of his, didn't get it.

Pellaz 07-06-2004 02:01 PM

I'm going to agree with the George Carlin being overrated. He had a great run, then fizzled. I've seen two of his live shows in the last decade, and neither had more than one or two bits that weren't on a set of cd's I've got recorded in the 70's.

ChrisJericho 07-06-2004 11:07 PM

I can't believe no one has said Jay Leno. I think it's due to the fact that he's so consistently un-funny that people don't consider him a comedian. He has the WORST monologues of any of the late or even LATE LATE talk show hosts.

I agree to a certain extent. Jerry = not funny, but his supporting cast MADE that show. Kramer rocks. He's pretty much the only reason I watched it. It's a shame he couldn't make it work on his own. His physical humor is second to none if you asked me.

And oh yeah, Adam Sandler gets my vote for the most unfunny person. ever.

Larry the Cable Guy, of course.

a couple nights ago I was watching his show because I couldnt sleep, and it usually helps. But he was talking about how Creed broke up and he lowered the sucking flag to half-staff... I thought it was very funny that he thought he had the authority to make fun of other people for sucking.

westothemax 07-10-2004 01:26 AM

The main ones I immediatly thought of:

Whoopi Goldberg
Jay Leno
Colin Quinn

Baldrick 07-10-2004 06:31 AM

Martin Lawrence is number one on my crap parade. I don't think I've chuckled at his stand-up, movies, or TV shows once. 100% pure crap.

And Dennis Miller used to be funny, back when his thesaurus induced banter seemed like it just rolled of his tongue. In recent years though, it almost seems like he's forcing it. You can almost see him skimming through a dictionary and thesaurus before every appearance, sweating while trying to figure out how to turn the sentence "I want a sandwich" into "I covet the cheesy nourishment of a grilled curd on rye that could only be fathomed of in the Cheddar Gorge caves themselves."

repeater 07-10-2004 08:11 AM

Gallagher is terrible. It's the most thoughtless and pathetic stand up ever.

Also I put in a vote for everyone on the kings of comedy tour and the blue collar tour. Both groups are just trying to appeal to the lowest common denominator.

Colin Quinn is dead on too. I have no idea how he keeps getting work. His timing is terrible and he can't finish a sentance without mumbling.

repeater 07-10-2004 08:14 AM

Everyone on MadTv too. I never thought that show was funny.

matteo101 07-10-2004 09:37 AM

Bill Cosby...I cannot stand him..just listening to him talk is enough for me to wanna kick his ass...dont get me started with the "comedy"

lyxo 07-10-2004 02:09 PM

Ok. #1 - Jay Leno, he is just horrible, it makes me want to cry if I'm stuck watching his show.
Carrot Top makes me want to cry
David Spade makes me want to cry

I don't find MadTv funny, it used to be, but I have respect for them because they do most of the voices for Family Guy (Lois, Shatner, Cosby).

JohnnyRoyale 07-10-2004 05:11 PM

Don't know if it count's but how about the guy from Everyone Loves Raymond? The few times I've seen parts of it (won't watch the whole thing). it's been like a Quaaluude addicted version of Seinfeld.. slow, and stupid.

Stompy 07-12-2004 07:53 PM

To sum up this thread: every comedian ;)

Ben Stiller is funny, so's Andy Dick, Jerry Seinfeld and Tom Green, so there ya go. The Andy Dick show was some of the most hilarious stuff I've ever seen.

Adam Sandler used to be funny, but then he got famous and rich (which tends to permanently influence a person's target audience) and has turned flat out unfunny. Billy Madison & Happy Gilmore are funny, Waterboy beyond aren't.

Jimmy Fallon. He quit SNL for a movie career. Dunno why, he's not any good.

Other than that.. no idea. I can't think of any right now.

ghettoblaster04 07-13-2004 09:59 AM

D.L. Hughley (he is terrible. same tired ass jokes about "white people do it like this, but black people do it LIKE THIS"

Jeff Foxworthy (he's awful. his material sucks and so does he.)

Margaret Cho post 1998. She used to be funny. What happened? Now she pauses for 3o seconds between each joke like everyone needs to get their laughs out. She's really just stretching 30 minutes of bad material into 2 hours. And she also will just repeat the punchline over and over and over thinking it gets funnier each time. it was never funny to begin with. go home.

monkeydriven 07-13-2004 11:25 AM

Carrot Top. Who is that guys audience????

Polyphobic 07-13-2004 12:48 PM

His act is lame. However, I saw him on Tough Crowd and he was actually funny. Not to be gay but he is also buffed. Thought that was strange also.

Himbo 07-13-2004 02:10 PM

Ellen and Rosanne. They suck . . can't believe people will pay to listen to those two.

Bobaphat 07-13-2004 02:17 PM

I can't stand comics who do the "white dudes are so stupid" schtick. Pisses me off. Dave Chappelle is one of these guys.

As for Carrot Top, I think the guy can be funny. Most people only know him from those terrible commercials, but he rips those to shreads in his act.

frankx 07-13-2004 05:11 PM

Jerry Seinfeld's not even remotely funny at all. His idiotic show about nothing is not funny, and I really wish he would quickly fade into obscurity.

Adam Sandler - I don't feel that I need much elaboration here. He is one person I wish would stop making movies so studios could perhaps use the money to make something worth seeing.

D. L. Hughley - Sure, poke amateurish and juvenile fun at the people in your audience instead of putting forth an effort in coming up with original and funny material. Lame.

Gilbert Gottfried has somehow managed to build an entire career out of being the utmost in annoying and yet completely unfunny at the same time.

Andy Dick is seriously not funny, bordering on pathetic.

Pauly Shore is just not funny. I'll just leave it at that.

Everyone is free to think someone is funny or not, but to dismiss Chappelle as one of those "comics who do the 'white dudes are so stupid'" displays an ignorance of his work. Chappelle skewers a wide range of individuals, not the least of which is his own race.

SinisterMotives 07-13-2004 08:24 PM

Jay Leno
Andrew Dice Clay
Jimmy Kimmel

kalashnikov 07-13-2004 08:44 PM

Someone mentioned Bobcat Goldthwait, and indeed, with that voice, he is very irritating (although a great addition to one of the Police Academy movies), however, i saw some actual stand up with him, and he in his screechy voice explained how he was going to do an impression of Bono singing YMCA, and then switched to a dead on Bono impersonation, and it was absolutely hilarious. I was also stoned at the time.

Worst comedian EVER: Colin Quinn. There are many comedians who you may find unfunny, boring, unispired, or a lame sense of humor. But not only is he unfunny, boring, uninspired, lame, etc, but he can't even SAY the jokes! He has the worst delivery of anyone I have ever seen. Gads.

i know i put half the "kings" of comedy on my original post but i feel that as many others have pointed out the blue collar is just as bad. Jeff foxworthy with his, "if you wear a shirt with a hat" you might be a redneck. If your white, you might be a redneck act is pretty damn stupid. and if you look at the movie 99.9% of the audience is some fat white people and on the flip side with the original kings its 99.9% black people. its interesting that those are their only audiences

I am not ignorant of his work. I have seen nearly all of his shows. I didn't say his entire body of work was offensive or unfunny. I think he has some skits that are hilarious. I said, he as a comedian pisses me off for a particular schtick that he uses.

I agree with many and disagree with many...
I hate Roseanne, Carrot Top, Gottfried, Andy Dick, Kathy Griffin, Adam Sandler, Tom Green, and more but I like Leno, Robin Williams, and Seinfeld.
One I haven't heard mentioned is Letterman. I can't stand him. Also Conan, half the time. His monologues always suck and his physical comedy bits are retarded. Don't get me wrong, the interviews are usually pretty funny.
Does Chris Farley count? I hated his "comedy." I guess he may count just an actor.

I hafta agree

Steve Harvey and Ellen Degeneres.

Ellen because she tries to act like she's an old school kind of person while being a neohippie.

And Steve Harvey because everything he says pisses me off.

Ellen Degenerous
And lots of others

Let's bump this thread and add Sarah Silverman to the list- I keep trying to "get" her jokes and don't understand her appeal. She's easy enough on the eyes, but lately if she's talking I hit the mute button.

Dane Cook and Carlos Mencia, neither of them deserves the success they have.
