Scrubs

..

bundy 05-08-2003 01:04 AM

i love Scrubs.
we've just had the first series over here.
i don't think i'd go as far as to say the best show ever.
but its classic stuff.
i've a special place in my heart for Sarah Chalke as well.

MikeyChalupa 05-08-2003 08:32 AM

I really like this show. The humor is different (and better) than most network primetime comedies. The actors are all great, particularly the janitor, who is one of the best roles I've ever seen. They use him just enough that he never gets tiresome, and leaves you waiting for the next time he tortures Dorian. I also like that John C. McGinley's talents are being used here, up till now he has had good but not major character actor roles in movies like Office Space, Any Given Sunday, Seven, and the first thing I remember him for, the woman-hating prankster in the surprisingly good chick movie Watch It.

The only thing I have a small problem with is that often there is a no-dialogue, music only segment near the end of the show, where each character is shown reacting to whatever that weeks story is. Usually it works well, but every now and then it is annoying to sit through. It's a comedy, not a showcase for the latest ballad by an artist trying to get on the radio. Leave that for MTV.

Dr. Jan Itor! I love that

Some great Scrubs quotes

Dr. Cox: They hate you Bob. They hate from the bottom of your hooves to the top of your pitchfork. They hate you. By God, they hate you good.

sierra2774 05-08-2003 05:45 PM

It is a good show...I have only watched it a few times, but I liked it.

Hitchcock 05-08-2003 07:00 PM

It's a great little show...destined to be a classic, IMHO.

YaWhateva 05-09-2003 04:06 PM

Ya i really like Scrubs, its probably my favorite show that hasnt been on forever. The Tod is great and so is the janitor. It actually made me want to go through med school but i decided not to let a show decide my future. haha. My favorite episode i think is called My Hero. the part where J.D. thinks the janitor is his dad is great. and then the acapella(sp?) version of Underdog those guys sing is classic.

DonnieBoy 05-11-2003 07:26 PM

RE:

Man, I love Scrubbs,

I love the dead dog... heh, my wife thinks im crazy but I think this is a great show... I loved the Jets Episode and the one where that guy from ED played J.D.'s brother... man they look like they could be brothers IRL

heh, it wouldnt really be deciding your future! you do that. you get ideas from everywhere, but it's your decision. i might go to med school myself. always considered it, scrubs is kinda affirming it ;D

jackson5oh 05-12-2003 08:10 PM

I agree. John C. McGinley is perfect for his role and easily my favorite character. I really like this show.

holtmate 05-15-2003 09:11 AM

That is a great show. I haven't been able to watch it as much recently, but I love the sense of humor, and it just has some great characters.

thebigk 05-17-2003 03:30 PM

I didn't watch the first season at all because I thought "yeah, a medical comedy, THAT'll work"...but then I caught an episode of the 2nd season (with Ted and his "band") and immediately downloaded every episode I'd missed. I've been a faithful viewer ever since.

ARRH 06-03-2003 03:05 AM

What happened to Scrubs?

Anybody here enjoy Scrubs?

What happened to it? Was the 'My Dream Job' the final ep of the 2nd season?

preluder 10-02-2003 07:35 PM

I love scrubs, it's funny, and it's often deep and has a message. And those scenes where JD imagines whatever is going on his head is hilarious, it's been done on alley mcbeal, but it's still awesome.

Appletini please, easy on the tini.

preluder 10-02-2003 07:37 PM

Scrubs is awesome. My Dream Job was the season finale. The season premiere was today, My American Girl. Thursdays, after Friends, as usual.

Fremen 10-02-2003 07:57 PM

I agree, this series is great. :)

The guy that plays the janitor was in snippets of the movie "Major League".
The last time you see him in the film, was when the Indians win the pennant and it shows him in the bar, jumping up and down hugging what looks like a punk-rocker. He realizes who he's hugging, pauses, then continues hugging him and jumping and cheering.
I saw it last night on Starz and recognized him.
His real name is Neil Flynn.

fugue_life 10-02-2003 08:02 PM

They made the blonde girl hotter, at least for the last five minutes of the show. Made me want to see her naked, more so then before :)

Apache 10-02-2003 08:48 PM

I LOVE this show. My favorite is Dr. Cox , to me he's the funniest on the entire show:D I also enjoy watching the pranks with JD and the janitor. Great stuff:D

agentsmith 10-04-2003 03:24 PM

Greatest show ever!! Although I personally liked Season One more than Two, but not by much. Can't believe I missed the premiere for Season Three.

danielboy 10-15-2003 07:04 PM

It's funny because the show is true.

wrongfullyaccuzd 10-15-2003 08:38 PM

imho best show on tv, it will overtake friends!
no, really..it's friends' last season. it will be the new friends.
no laught track! i love every part of this show.

Cubby 10-16-2003 01:35 PM

i love this show as well but hardly watch it :(.

Usually my wife and I end up taping the Thursday night line up and it is on the same time as Survivor...

Arc101 10-16-2003 01:42 PM

Very good show and as for Sarah Chalke :D :D :D

deepinjello 10-16-2003 09:46 PM

For Mikey and other check John C. McGinley in Platoon, he has a supporting role but it's a great one. I've loved scrubs since day one. Neil Flynn, the janitor, acutally tried out for the roll of Dr. Cox and barely lost it but was so good in the callbacks that the writers invented the part for him. I really love the episode where he reads JD's diary, oh man, laughing just thinking about it.

Sleepyjack 10-17-2003 10:47 AM

What a great show, i forogt about it though, the series finished about 5 months ago.
John C. McGinley is tha man, what a great actor. He's a really nice guy in real life as well.

I wonder when a new series is coming back to Australia?

Gman 10-17-2003 09:51 PM

Scrubs is the only show I faithfully watch every week.

mydragonfido 10-20-2003 02:31 AM

The show is awesome so sick of friends!!! I say skip friends and watch scrubs!!!

quadro2000 01-23-2004 12:10 PM

I'm bumpin' this back up because there was a new episode on last night, and as usual, I laughed so hard I couldn't breathe. JD had numerous dream sequences where he got punched in the nuts by a midget. Brilliant.

sherpahigh 01-23-2004 12:19 PM

Ya I caught that last night as well. Funny stuff with the little guy punching him in the nuts. This show is great, I think it's the best comedy on regular cable these days.

Plan9Senior 01-23-2004 02:33 PM

Wow, I guess I am the only one that finds this show completely unfunny :(

soccerchamp76 01-23-2004 02:56 PM

This show is great, and bringing in Tara Reid was just amazing (she is incredibly hot).

Dr. Cox is the best with his sarcastic humor and his jabs at J.D.

GO Scrubs!

Kaos 01-23-2004 03:28 PM

It's about damn time they finally showed another episode...I was getting sick of double episodes of Friends and Will & Grace.

gilada 01-24-2004 11:09 AM

Scrubs is excellent, but I hear they're moving it to Tuesdays after Frasier.

lucidity 01-25-2004 09:10 AM

I hope it's true about moving it to Tuesdays. Scrubs went up against my Survivor time, and that was just rough. PIPing it all the way.

Dr. Cox is sexy. *squirm*

I watch it whenever i get the chance, i love it so much

Im glad it kept going, i heard during its first season that they were gonna cancel, but its still goin strong... booya

02-06-2004 02:42 PM

Don't forget- Next Tue. 2/10 (not Thurs.) it will be on and Michael J. Fox is making a special appearance- looks good and a bit dramatic, I might say!

quadro2000 02-11-2004 09:53 AM

So last night was the episode with Michael J. Fox. I have to be honest...I found it depressing and didn't think it was a very good episode.

Let me say, though, that Michael J. Fox is one of my favorite actors of all time. He's why I wanted to become an actor. His demeanor and comedic timing were top-notch on "Family Ties." I was heartbroken when I heard that he had Parkinson's. He's always been one of my heroes, and of course, he's now even more of a hero because of his work in finding a cure for the disease.

I saw him on Charlie Rose a year or so ago, and he wasn't doing very well - the tremors were really taking over his body. He obviously is doing better, as his performance on Scrubs was much more contained..but:

a) I didn't think the character was very funny; I fear he's lost a lot of his comic timing.
b) He talked very, very fast, and I frequently had to rewind to understand what he was saying.
c) He looks really old; it's easy to tell that this ordeal has taken its toll.

There were some funny moments in the show, but I wound up just sitting there feeling really sad. It's nice to see him on television again, but it's depressing when you have to watch the ones that you loved become shadows of their former selves.

I still give the show big props for being the funniest show on television. This show was just a little bittersweet for me, I guess.

gilada 02-11-2004 10:22 AM

scrubs is great. hope they put it out on dvd at some point.

hosti|e 02-11-2004 12:29 PM

I loved when JD was paying that kid Ralphie to puke everywhere so the janitor had to clean it up.
Especially when he puked in the elevator that Kelso was in

nosuchuserexist 02-11-2004 01:07 PM

I'm right there with ya quadro2000, I was too saddened, by seeing MJF fight his disease to do his job, for most of the show to really find it all that funny. I did find it interesting that they made his character have OCD so that there would be a plausible story line explanation for all of the ticks and twitches.

Cycler 02-12-2004 07:00 AM

I missed the start the season. Good show I will have to start setting the old VCR again.

Wow, I had a totally different reaction to the show. I too love MJF, he's a great actor and after reading his book I have a huge respect for the man.

I think having his character suffer from OCD was a great match, I found the character to be quite entertaining. I also thought that his timing was still bang on. He did talk pretty fast, but I didn't have any trouble understanding him. And as for his age, meh, I don't think he looks a day over 43. ;)

I think it's great that he came back to tv. It shows that he's fighting Parkinson's and he's not willing to just give up. He's done so much for the Parkinson's community and has been a great spokesman for them. It's sad that this has happened to him and everyone else affected by it, but I was proud of him (for lack of a better word) for getting out there and doing this show. Huge props to MJF, he's a fighter and in my opinion still a great actor.

lucidity 02-12-2004 02:59 PM

I agree, having MJF's character have OCD was a perfect match. I definately did find it depressing though, especially at the end. I saw him for the character he was struggling with his OCD but also as the person he is dealing with his disease. Gawd, and that coldplay song they played made it even more sad. :(

quadro2000 02-13-2004 01:11 PM

Great opinions. I can see where you both are coming from. I did see the parallels between his character and what he's going through in real life. I guess I just have certain ideas/images in my head when thinking of MJF, and it was just sad to see he's not exactly what I remembered.

Don't get me wrong, I have great respect for him in so many ways - I've read his book, I contribute to his foundation - it just was sad.

Lucidity...I downloaded the Coldplay song right after that episode. :(

Next week it seems he hooks up with Elliott.

I gathered that from your post. I guess I just looked at it a bit different. It is a sad thing to have happen, but to see him fight it head on is great.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to next weeks show.

So I really thought about what you said as I watched last night's episode. I'm sure it was all just my perceptions/biases in the first place, but I enjoyed last night's episode much more than the first one. :)

sherpahigh 02-19-2004 08:05 AM

Ya, I thought it was a good one as well. I think he'd be a good addition to the show as an occasional apperance or something like that.

Dingo2879 11-19-2004 01:08 PM

Is anyone else glad Heather Graham is gone... Her character annoyed the crap out of me. Even still, I think this is so far a great season, although I think the show peaked last year. I am still amazed that not allot of people know about this show. Along with Arrested Development, it is the best comedy on TV. Has anyone heard when this show is due to hit syndication?

Cycler 11-19-2004 02:38 PM

I am still waiting for DVD.

Lefty04 11-22-2004 05:25 PM

They have a real touch for weaving a bunch of unrelated plots and having them come together in the end.

screamincheetah 12-17-2004 10:14 PM

I'm glad to have found the Scrubs fan club. I've been watching this show every week since the beginning. It the smartest and funniest thing on. Every week I will laugh out loud at least five times, and almost always am tearing up at the end. That's a damn good sitcom if it can be hysterical and thoughtful and emotional all at the same time.

If you haven't watched this show, you have to watch it. Alright, you don't really have to. There's really no way I can enforce this command. So, I'll just leave it at I strongly encourage you to.......... or else :D

Wanderer 12-19-2004 12:20 AM

Something Scrubs does really well is making every single scene funny on it's own. You can walk in in the middle of the show and have no idea what has been going on and it's still funny.

gonad 12-20-2004 02:26 AM

The quotes are almost as good as the Simpsons'

"Dude, my brother in law is an evil genius!"

"Four hours duct-taped in a morgue drawer don't piss of the janitors end of story."

"Damn these twisty-bottoms! We need more clicky-tops!"

derektor 12-20-2004 02:42 AM

tell me when it goes on dvd and i'll pick it up.

sgn43 12-20-2004 06:20 PM

easily my favorite show on tv today. I'd love to see a DVD for it as well, but unfortunately I wouldn't hold my breath waiting. the people behind this show are the same behind ER, who, despite having numerous successful seasons, only has seasons 1 and 2 (and I think possibly 3) out on DVD. though, with the quickly growing trend of releasing tv shows on DVD, perhaps they'll get on board and make fans of this show happy.

sailor 12-25-2004 08:38 PM

I recently discovered this one, and because you cant find it anywhere, promptly (*gasp*) downloaded a bunch of them with bittorrent. Awesome little show--quite funny, and much better than most of the junk on TV.

bigd999 12-25-2004 09:13 PM

I have all of season 1 and 2 on my computer, if you're interested in seeing more. and it's definitely better than about 99% of the shows on TV today. it's a very well-rounded, witty, intelligent and quirky show. I actually broke off a somewhat budding relationship after the girl told me she thought the show was absolutely awful and really poorly done. I figured why waste my time with someone who obviously doesn't have even a decent sense of humor, you know?

salemsaberhagen 12-26-2004 07:35 AM

I agree, Scrubs is an awesome shoe. In the UK, it disappeared after the end of season two where Dr Cox biffs Doctor Kelso. I am curently downloading season 4 and must say that I am still LOVING it. I also managed toget a couple of season 3 episodes and will continue to do so. I think Heather Grahams' character was awesome, she is so hot. I hoped she'd stay longer. Anyway, good to know it is still really popular.

neddy65 12-27-2004 07:17 AM

I love the hell out of this show and sing the praises to all who will listen.
It also has the best theme song" I can't do this all on my own. No, i know I'm no Superman, I'm no Superman! "
That's it.
Twisty bottoms suck! Clicky tops are the only way to go :)

holtmate 12-27-2004 03:20 PM

Still one of my favorite shows. I love Turk & JD's friendship. The first episode of the season with Turk and Carla coming back from their honeymoon is one of my all-time favorite scenes. Great writing, and the actors are brilliant!
I can't wait for the DVD...

Lak 12-28-2004 06:58 AM

The episode where JD had the opera singer in his head, advising him when he had made a mistake made me laugh so hard I could taste whatever I had in my mouth at the time in the back of my throat for a whole day.
I think it was raspberry soda.

Daoust 04-20-2005 07:41 AM

I would also like to add my "this show rocks" to this thread. I started watching it sporadically in the last 6 months, but am now consciously making it a part of my Tuesday nights, and I'm taping it when I'm out. I love it's nonsensical, totally out there humour. I've missed that kind of humour on network TV. I do NOT, NOT laugh out loud at much that's on TV these days, (with the exception of a good clip on America's Funniest Video's or Just For Laugh's Gags, and of course, Kids In The Hall reruns) so it's nice to have a show on that's laugh worthy. Kudos to this show!

Cycler 04-20-2005 08:46 AM

Yeah I love this show. It is one of the only things I taped when my VCR was still around now my DVR saves it for me.

Latch 04-22-2005 02:47 AM

It's a great show, although I'm curious what the cliffhanger will be. I hope it's not "Oh man I slept with Elliot... again". Well.. JD would be saying that. I wouldn't mind sleeping with Elliot... ;)

The writers were talking about how they were done with the J.D./Elliot love story for a while because they didn't want to beat it to death so early in the show's life. Plus, they've proven to be capable of producing quality beyond the regular standards on network sitcoms so I expect something good.

My only complaint on Tuesdays now is that Scrubs comes on at the same time as House, M.D., which is quickly becoming one of my favorite shows. So to have two shows that I absolutely love on at the same time is just cruel and unusual punishment and I'd appreciate if the networks could work that out for next season.

superiorrain 04-23-2005 06:03 AM

Best comedy show coming out of america at the moment, (apart from of course the simpsons). Loved this show so much when i first saw it, but dissapeared to sky tv after the first season, but i'm still hopeful it will return to british season once sky have milked it for all it's worth.

Shauk 06-26-2007 02:11 PM

thought i'd bump this as its now into its 6th season i believe.

I just got through watching every episode from season 1-5 and am starting on season 6 tomorrow

I think the 1st 2 seasons were the best so far but all of them are great and have a ton of laughs and life lessons. I like how they all have a little moral reflection at the end. It's like Jerry Springer without all the trailer transvestites :p

MexicanOnABike 06-26-2007 02:13 PM

season 6 is over now. we're going in 7 after the summer or in jan 2008. 5 was a great season and 6 started off very shitty and picked up towards the end.

I can't wait to see how season 7 will turn out. It's supposed to be the final season too.

snowy 06-26-2007 03:08 PM

I watch an episode of Scrubs a day, at least. I usually catch it in the mornings or evenings on Comedy Central. I think my record for episodes per day on regular television (not a marathon) is 8 episodes (episodes at 11, 7, and 10 on Comedy Central, 5:30 on my local Fox affiliate, 9pm for the new episode on NBC). My marathon record is...well, who knows. I've watched a whole lot of Scrubs.

I love Dr. Cox.

stevie667 06-26-2007 03:39 PM

Scrubs = Stargate

'Nuff said.

My TiVo has been recording Scrubs constantly in it's free time. Yesterday I finally watched an episode to figure out why it wants me to watch it. Pretty darned funny (I saw the Turk wedding episode). Is the a cappella group always in the show?

MexicanOnABike 06-27-2007 06:25 AM

the band consists of TED(the bald guy) and a few other guys from the hospital i think...
Ted is the hospital lawyer so he's mostly always there. the band is there half the time but for some episodes, they're very important(they play more than 1 song).

Carla is pretty damn old too. (6 season + 8years at the hospital like she mentionned in the 1st season) = 14. after school, she was a nurse at 20? so 34 or older in the show. and nurse roberts is her 40s. I don't know if they mention Jordan's age.

SCRUBS IS BACK!

I saw the Season 7 premier last night, and I couldn't stop smiling and laughing. The show just never loses its edge. With a lot on my plate lately, Scrubs gave me a lot of needed happiness last night. :)

The bittersweet moment came just before watching the episode when I read that this is definitely the last season of the show... but really, I'm kind of ok with that. There comes a time when the story just needs to end... and I think they've told such a great story over the years that I'll be satisfied when it finally draws to a close. 7 years is a damn good run by any standard.

I was really surprised at how they started the 1st episode this season... It's almost like the writers completely decided against where they were going to go with the kiss, at the last moment... It really didn't flow too well imo.

With that said, I'm glad to have the show back on.
