Trailer for Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.

I LOVE IT! I can't wait for this movie!

It's awesome as hell when he yells EXPECTO PATRONUM!!! at the end. Chill bumps ensue!

YaWhateva 03-26-2004 05:46 AM

diergray 03-26-2004 06:57 AM

Should be awesome. I have been very impressed with the attention to detail in all of the movies so far.

Roger that.

The movie looks dark and amazing. Cannot wait for it.

:D :D :D Much more satisfying than the last trailer. Gonna be a barnburner, this one.

Nancy 03-27-2004 07:51 AM

I hope it's as good as the first two ones :p

pocon1 03-27-2004 06:01 PM

In the books, I don't ever remember Hermione punching anyone, least of all the bad kid

mastboyx 03-27-2004 07:25 PM

mystmarimatt 03-27-2004 10:34 PM

i'm so stoked, there's no way to describe it.

Lasereth 03-28-2004 08:37 PM

Lookin good! I like the Dumbledore way better than the last one.

I hope the movie is alright with the new director in charge!

You're right, she doesn't "punch" anyone, so to speak. However, she does downright smack the shit out of Draco Malfoy.

Don't get too comfy with Alfonso Cuaron, this is the only picture in the series that he'll be doing, Mike Newell is gonna direct Goblet Of Fire.

Fremen 03-29-2004 07:51 PM

Did you catch Emma Thompson as Professor Trelawney?
She looks great, imo.
I didn't picture her that way myself, but it makes sense now that I've seen her.

Boy, I hope this one isn't as treacly-sweet as the other two.
From the two clips I've seen, it's not. Let's just hope it keeps going the way the books are.

Date the Banana 03-29-2004 08:10 PM

I'm looking forward to the coming installments, but have they mentioned what they're going to do with the next two? The other two have already been streamlined to fit the theatres, but how are they going to condense Goblet of Fire into 2-3 hours and still maintain any of the larger plot? I'm not envious of the writers for that one, gonna be a whole lotta "why was my favourite part left out" kiddies...

Mr.Deflok 03-29-2004 10:11 PM

Absolutely giddy! Gary Oldman as Sirius had me sold, he's perfect! The new Dumbledore looks and sounds great, but I won't pass judgement until I see him in action. Can't wait for this one!

Oh, and I got shivers down me spine too when Harry shouted "Expecto Patronum!"

happyraul 03-31-2004 10:37 AM

I heard a while ago that Goblet of Fire would be 2 movies, but I don't have anything to back that up.

I've heard from multiple sources that it's gonna be split into two movies as well (like Matrix Reloaded and Revolutions). That book is way too fuckin long for one movie, but I imagine audiences are gonna be pissed to pay to see two movies.

Mephisto2 03-31-2004 01:12 PM

I can wait.

A lifetime if necessary... :)

Oh Harry Potter, my feelings for you are so conflicting. On one hand I laud anything that makes other people read, and enjoy reading. But on the other hand I just can't get over how crappy you are... I suppose I would have loved them as kids, but now (at the dizzying age of 34) I just can't understand the attraction you hold for otherwise normal mature adults.

No way, that just means that when they're both out on DVD, you can watch them back to back and it will be twice the awesomeness. :D

Damn, now i want to run off and read book 4 for the 5th time!

Fremen 03-31-2004 09:25 PM

I found this article from Mike Newell about the splitting-up of GOF.
http://www.empireonline.co.uk/site/n...?news_id=15530
Quote:

Mike Newell won't split Potter 4
30 January 2004
Given the corpulent pagination of the fourth Harry Potter book, more than a few people have mooted the idea that someone might have to pull a Kill Bill and split Goblet of Fire right down the middle. Since the previous films ran at two-and-a-half hours despite the source material's slender build, there seemed almost no way director Mike Newell could keep the bulk of Rowling's hefty tome within a single movie's runtime.

Not so, insists the director. Allaying fears that he'll turn out a two-act Potter, Newell told Empire that it's one film all the way. "As far as I'm concerned it's absolutely possible to do it in one. I think it would be slightly embarrassing to do it in two."

The Four Weddings director will also be taking the franchise in yet another new direction. "It's a classic paranoid thriller in a way. I've spent Christmas watching things like The Parallax View and The Insider and Three Days of the Condor. What you have is a story at the beginning of which the powers of evil have a plan, which is absolutely not revealed to your hero. The kid just wonders into another year at school, then this huge notion of the competition surprises him. But there is, of course, a malign intelligence which is manipulating things. And so he gets more and more suspicious until there is a shoot-out between him and the bad guy. That's a really good, strong thriller shape."
I'd like to see a four hour GOF movie just so they can throw everything in there.

ironchefkorea 03-31-2004 09:54 PM

they should make the whole movie without compressing and release in two parts but on the same weekend or on consecutive weekends - double the revenue, because people will have to see the second part either the same day or the next.

Mr.Deflok 03-31-2004 10:11 PM

So it's definate now that Daniel, Emma and... Rupert (?) aren't coming back to reprise their roles for the next film?

as far as i've heard, they're still committed to doing the 4th, and that Daniel is definitely interested in doing 5, because he enjoyed book 5 so much.

Vilkata 04-01-2004 01:19 AM

Man, I really am hyped up for that movie now. I just wished it had the choir part where the children sing from the previous trailer.

Well, they originally planned on ditching the actors after the second one, but the success of the films has driven them to keep the same ones. Can you imagine how the movie series is gonna be after they change actors?

I honestly believe they could shoot all 7 films with the same actors. At the end of Book 5, Harry is 16. That's old enough for a early-twenties actor to play rather easily. Unless the movies come out years and years and years down the road, I think they could pull it off with all of the same actors. Hell, even if they did look too old, it would be better than alienating the series with new actors.

I agree with you to a caertain extent since it'd be great to see Harry/Daniel grow up into a fully-fledged wizard in "real-time" but remember James Bond, we've got a dozen James Bond who were for the most part quite capable of taking the role into their own hands. Richard Harris no longer plays Dumbledore but he still looks the same and from first impressions seems like he's giving a better performance.

InTeGrA77 04-01-2004 09:28 PM

I sure hope that they stick with the original actors/actresses. I hate it when they switch them up in the middle of a long series of films. Can't wait for it to come out though, saw the trailer many times in the theater, looks pretty badass. Wasn't my fav. book, I liked the 4th one more, but that one's next in line for sure...

clifclav 04-02-2004 11:44 AM

looks great. Azkaban was my favorite of the books by far in that it introduced the most information about Harry's life.

Not wanting to make this into too much of a Bruce Willis/Cybill Sheppherd thing but you just know that Ron and Hermione are going to hook up.

bltzkriegmcanon 04-02-2004 11:53 AM

I guess we'll have to wait for books 6 and 7 to find out won't we?

It's way, way more obvious that they're trying to get them hooked up in the movies than in the books. My girlfriend says it's obvious in the books, but I've never even seen a hint of it! They go as far in the movies to show them holding hands in the trailer "accidently." Nothing like that has happened in the novels!

-Lasereth

bltzkriegmcanon 04-02-2004 12:35 PM

I agree with that call, the relationship between those two is blown out of proportion in a major way in the movies.

I've read the entire series twice all the way through! I pay close attention to the novels I read. If anyone can give examples of the romance developing in the novels, of course I'll give credit...but I seriously don't remember seeing even the smallest hint of it until possibly the fifth book. And even in the fifth it was very, very miniscule.

Now, I realize that there are other romances developing BIG time, but Ron and Hermione simply aren't showing any signs of it in the novels. Feel free to correct me, but I want examples!!

I don't have my books at school, so i can't quote specifically. But for starters, the way Ron acts almost the entire time Krum is around Hermione, he's obviously jealous. and they have a few cold moments where she tells him off in very tension-filled conversations.

bltzkriegmcanon 05-20-2004 05:05 PM

Oh shit, there's another newer trailer at warnerbros's website. It's awesome. http://raincloud.warnerbros.com/harr...3_uk_f3_56.asx

That's what I got when I looked at the source for it, hopefully, that'll work if you paste it into your address bar.

WarWagon 05-20-2004 05:47 PM

I wasn't a big fan of the first one, but thought the darker tone of the second one was much better. It looks as though they'll continue this into the third one, so I look forward to seeing it.

kutulu 05-21-2004 08:31 AM

The 5th book is what I'm looking forward to seeing the most. It was by far my favorite of the series.

i've always had the impression that Ron and Hermione were bound to hook up. There was always that akwardness between the two of them.

Mr Mephisto

Same feelings here, and not too many years behind you. Read the first book (my mom bought it I believe) and saw no reason to read anything past it. The movies rank with up there with Matrix: Revolutions and the the final Star Wars prequel, Kill Bill Vol. 2, Pulp Fiction and others on the 'films that I can completely miss seeing in my lifetime' list.
