CSI-NY

Gary Sinise is about to join New York's finest in their fight against crime.

The thesp, known for his film and TV movie work, has signed on for his first series, playing the lead in CSI: New York, the third installment in CBS' hit franchise.

Gary Sinise is an incredible actor....

I guess if Law And Order can support 3 shows.....CSI can too!!

Sensei 03-18-2004 04:20 PM

William Petersen doesn't think so; he's thinking of quitting in protest to the 'bastardization' of CSI.

Fremen 03-18-2004 05:00 PM

I've got a lot of respect for William Peterson as an actor, but I think he's flipped out.

The guy needs to look back on his career and recognize what his most successful part was/is. ---> Gil Grissom

If he's not careful, he'll pull a David Caruso.

Peryn 03-18-2004 05:04 PM

I think CSI : Miami was a bad idea and had terrible execution. I sure hope they can do better for NY, though i wouldn't count on it.

EbolaVirus 03-18-2004 07:04 PM

The CSI series is pulling a Law and Order. I wish networks could come up with some original programming rather than repeating their own idea over and over.

problem is that they are giving the audience what they are looking for... which is more of the same stuff. It's all in the market research...

Psivage 03-18-2004 07:43 PM

I heard that the next one was going to be CSI: London. Oh well, I'm still hoping for a crossover between CSI, CSI: Miami, Without a Trace and Cold Case.

YaWhateva 03-18-2004 08:42 PM

i love the original CSI but CSI: Miami makes me cringe. I cant stand it.

Mephisto2 03-18-2004 09:02 PM

Law and Order is the original and still the best.

Hmm...I'm sensing some comparisions...

L&O - Excellent show, one of the greatest in television history.

CSI - Excellent show, one of the greatest in television history.

L&O:SVU - Craptastic.

CSI:Miami - Craptacular.

L&O:CI - Decent, Vincent D'Onofrio creates one of the best characters for a drama and rivals Sam Waterston in his ability to build to a creshendo.

CSI:NY - (To be continued...) [Post fades out]

You pretty much mirrored what I was going to post in this thread with one addition. L&O:CI has gone serisouly down the tubes since it started. I'm surprised that D'Onofrio has stuck around this long with the crappy dialogue they make him perform.

Every episode now has some HUGE leap of logic wherein the Goren character (D'Onofrio) discovers they suspect's hometown from the colour of a thread left at the crime scene or some such shit.

Feh, I throw up my hands and just watch the originals of CSI and L&O. Tho to be honest the original CSI is getting pretty outrageous too...but I've said too much.

Gary Sinise rules, I look forward to his TV debut.

No doubt, no matter how often the cast changes the show is still spectacular. I lost count of all the Emmy nominations.

Uhhhh....no. CSI is one of my favorite shows on television but I wouldn't go so far. The science factor makes the show flashy and entertaining but the characters aren't exactly the next Citizen Kane(though still deeper than 90% of current TV characters).

World's King 03-19-2004 11:12 AM

Cool.

Maybe they can hook up with Zach Morris from NYPD Blue.

Qazwsxedc 03-19-2004 03:34 PM

do we really need another CSI???

No. The first one is good, Miami is medeocre, NY will probably suck.

I can't watch Law & Order: Criminal Intent. I call it "SuperCop" and leave the room when it comes on.

It's just ridiculous. The Doren character is so far beyond belief that it's not funny. Even if you leave the "I can see that the murderer was a woman, late twenties, probably blonde, that stood at this point, was wearing yellow underwear, buys her groceries from WalMart, drinks bourbon and probably hates her mother because of THIS little fibre I just happened to notice..." kind of crap, then the blatant abandonment of proper police process ruins the show. How many times have they "tricked" people by staging huge big stings or games?

Sheesh...

Rubbish.

i'm just hanging out for CSI: Little Rock...

but thats only going to be made after they get CSI:Seattle, CSI:Atlanta, CSI:Chicago, CSI:New Jersey, CSI: Denver, CSI:Portland, CSI:Anchorage, and CSI:Memphis.

so, guess i'll have to wait.

edit: oh, and i've heard rumours that they're going to be trying out Gary Coleman for the lead in CSI: Little Rock... can't wait!

too funny..(I'm hoping).

CSI:HY will be something I check out (like I did CSI:Miami) and I hope I can stay longer than I did for Miami. I LOVE the original but Caruso and Delaney really made Miami suck! Now that Delaney is gone only Caruso has to go and perhaps I'll take a look again (I had never seen a police investigation with the investigating officer talking to the prisoner while the officer had his back to the prisoner until I had seen CSI: Miami. I've also never seen so many GQ poses in a TV Show before.....

"Oh here's a bullet"...stop hand on hip pushing jacket back looking at the sky...pause for photo...crouches down, left arm on left leg, right hand remove sunglasses hold arm up...pause for photo...look down at bullet, grab bullet in evidence bag...hold up to light...pause for photo...repeat ad nauseum...

I have my doubts about this show, but Sinese signing on gives me hope. Surely, he wouldn't do this unless it looked like a quality project.

That's the same thing people were saying when D'Onofiro was signing on for the third L&O. Look how that turned out.

But I too have faith in Gary (Capt. Dan) Sinise.

World's King 03-25-2004 12:06 PM

CSI: Denver would the most boring show ever. Nothing happens here. They would have to deal with high school shootings and NBA rape cases.
