Best Oscar Moments
Okay, so the Oscars aren't quite over yet, but what are everyone's thoughts about the best parts of the telecast?
My picks: When Robin Williams said, for Michael Eisner's benefit, "If you lose the Weinsteins, all you've got is a Muppet and a waterslide." Jack Black and Will Farrell singing the lyrics to the song they play when the acceptance speeches run long. Adrien Brody freshening his breath before announcing the award for Best Actress. |
When Cyrstal mentioned Jackson finally had some shoes on.
|
When it was over.
Okay, so I didn't even watch it. |
11 oscars!!!
lord of rings tied the record set by titanic and ben hur!! and they deserve them all I;m glad lost in translation got best origional screenplay. best moment was Billy's movie parody sequence in the beginging. only award i didn't agree with was best actor, should have went to murry. but yeah,,,four hours long. dang. |

One of the best moments for me was when Billy Bush introduced the girl from Whale Rider to Johnny Depp. It was so awkward. You could tell she wanted to A.) kill Bush, B.) kiss Depp, and C.) fall through the floor. I like edgy moments like that. ;) Another great moment was Blake Edwards' wheelchair escapade and acceptance speech. Especially the English broad part. :) |
Angelina's nipples.

She looked hot, but you couldn't really see her nipples. They poked through her dress a little bit, that's about it. At least from what I saw of her.
|
Damn, i missed 90% of them because of work. What did Jack Black and Will Ferrell actually do?
|
Robin Williams standing behind Billy Crystal, doing a spanish dub... Hilarious.

i love Eugene Levy.

The time they gave the Best Picture Oscar to 'Rocky' over 'Taxi Driver' about 30 years ago...
A pox on the Academy and all it's works... |
Allison Krauss and Sting performing "You Will Be My Ain True Love." I'm sorry, but that was one Oscar that LOTR did NOT deserve. "Into the West" is *not* that great of a song.
Sorry, had to rant. I liked Adrien Brody's breathspray antic, and anything involving Robin Williams. |
Let's see...best Oscar moments...hmmm. Anytime that the camera focused on Reneé Zellweger. Rawrrr.
Seriously though, I think the funniest part was Adrien Brody's little breathspray bit, before announcing Charlize Theron, as Best Actress. Although Will Farrell and Jack Black's song came in a close second. |
Robin Williams is always great for a good laugh.
|
belleville rendesvous should have gotten best song, in my book.
and angellina was smokin in that dress. that diamond number maria menounos was wearing on the red carpet looked awesome too. |
I liked "into the west" just because I love Annie Lennox
I also thought Liv Tlyer was looking pretty good last night. http://www.liv-tyler.com/images/depo/livoscar002.jpg http://www.liv-tyler.com/images/depo/livoscar003.jpg Not to mention Nicole Kidman, http://www.smh.com.au/ffxImage/urlpi...lekidman,0.jpg , &Renee Zellweger Scarlett Johansson , http://www.smh.com.au/ffxImage/urlpi...tjohansson.jpghttp://www.smh.com.au/ffxImage/urlpi...ezellweger.jpg and Johnny Depp (sexiest man alive whom i have a hetrosexual man crush on) http://www.smh.com.au/ffxImage/urlpi...hnnydepp,0.jpg |
Lord of the Rings receiving all 11 awards they were nominated for.
The Jack Black/Will Farrell duet- they are great & hilarious singers. The Bob Hope/ Catherine Hepburn tributes, along with all the other great actors who passed away. I missed the Annie Lennox/LOTR song :( but enjoyed the beautiful song by Allison Krauss and Sting. Wow, beautiful. Adrian Brody's breathspray bit was really funny. I would have like to see that 13 yr. old girl from Whale Rider win and he would kiss her- lol Sad thing is, I haven't seen any of the nominated movies except for LOTR- been poor, but I know I gotta see them, hearing how good they all were. |

yeah the Adrien Brody bit was pretty funny; I liked how he came out and said "don't worry, they've got me under a restraining order."
I also thought it was pretty brave of numerous people to poke fun of Bush and the war, especially when Sean Penn kind of smoothly added in something about how there never were any "WMD's." I got a kick out of that. And I can't remember who it was that won, or for what category, but I thought it was hilarious when that one lady came up after winning and mentioned how thankful she was that Lord of the Rings didn't qualify for their category. That was hilarious. I also liked Charlize's acceptance speech; it was nice. |
When all of the best actor nominees were on the TV in little boxes and all burst out in smiles and aplause when Sean Penn won....all except for Bill Murray who sat there and smirked.... what a jerkass. Caddyshack is one of my favorite comedies, but c'mon, show some respect.

LOTR finally getting the Oscars it deserves!
"...thankful that fantasy is not an 'f' word that will be taken care of by the five second delay."~Peter Jackson Jack Black and Will Farrell, when I first saw Jack, I was like, "Who the hell let him in?" I'm glad they did. Robin Williams + Billy Crystal=Instalaughs! "BENICIO DEL TORRO!!" hehe, man those two crack me up. Michael Moore getting stomped on by an Oliphaunt, damn, wasn't real. "Pussy Galore... I JUST GOT IT!!!" Sean Connery's so badass, he just kind of shows up and says "Seat me you filthy bastards!" Adrian Brody, man, that was just a classic bit, and got a voluntary kiss from Charlize Theron for his troubles, what luck. The tributes were awesome, Bringing Up Baby, Breakfast At Tiffany's and Rooster Cogburn are 1,2, and 3 on my list for Katherine Hepburn. Gregory Peck as Atticus Finch probably the best role ever played by an actor. Buddy Hackett, need I say more? Almost of the ladies were lookin quite fine, man, I would just love to be affialiated in some way with the Oscars. And Johnny Depp, he's the man, he should have lept up, pointed a blunderbus at Sean Penn and commandeered the Best Actor award away from him. The complete and total domination by the SANZAR nations. w00t. (South Africa, New Zealand, Australia for those not in the know) makes me proud to be an adopted citizen of NZ (not really, but I wish I was.) Best Oscar Commercial: Tiger Woods' parody of Caddyshack, man, I was rolling, now all they need is Tiger whackin away at chrisanthemums "Eh, here's Tiger Woods with what looks like a four iron and he's got about two-hundred and ten yards to the green..." you fill in the rest. Overall, one of the best Oscars I've seen in quite awhile. |
It wasn't one of the funny moments, but I thought it was incredibly sweet... arg...mind blank on the name, but I THINK it was one of the LOTR guys (costume design, maybe? I honestly can't remember now...) Anyway, he was talking about/to his wife and said something along the lines of "I wrote in a note in eighth grade, and now I can say it in front of a billion people: I love you." Awwww...
|
I didn't even watch one second of it. Looks like I missed some decent moments. Oh well.

One of the LOTR winners did say something along the lines of giving his wife rats as a gift while they were dating. Charming. |
If I had to pick a dress to wear, either of these would be my picks:
http://entimg.msn.com/i/gal/2004_Osc...ne_300x435.jpg Diane Lane OR http://entimg.msn.com/i/gal/2004_Osc...er_300x435.jpg Jennifer Garner's orange dress a lot of the ladies' dresses were fab, including Renee's, Liv's, and Nicole's, but I would most likely wear the above two. |
The best Oscar moment? That commercial with Martin Scorsese American Express commercial! "I've lost the narrative thread........." was so fucking hysterical. I laughed for five minutes. That was classic. (The Tiger Woods/Caddyshack commercial was OK but paled in comparsion to the genius of the Scorsese commercial). Great, great commercial.
|
...When Lord of the Rings won.
Won the Oscars, not any specific award. |
Adrian Brody, who i haven't been a big believer in, had the funniest bit. He kind of made the show. Jack Black and Will Ferrell were good too. Did anyone else think Billy Crystal was weak? especially the opening montage- ugh.
