Chewbacca back for EPISODE III!

http://www.comingsoon.net/cgi-bin/ar...1152399,58827,

Personally I'm quite annoyed about it, I've always liked Chewbacca but what purpose could he possibly serve in Episode III? What's he gonna do, knock Anakin off into the lava? He can't speak English so his role is going to be fairly useless and will pale in comparison to R2D2's classic humour.

I'd be more happier if they brought back a younger Grand Moff Tarkin.

I guess it'll still be enat to see ol' Chewie on screen again, but damnit, I want Tarkin, even Admiral Ackbar!!!

Who is Grand Moff Tarkin?

Chewbacca is a fabulous addition. In fact, bring back all of the characters from the originals. Chewie is useless if he can't speak English?? He can speak Wookie and that's good enough for me.

I've lost faith in George Lusas... He's killing the prequils and I think adding characters like Chewie is not going to say him from making a bomb out of all three movies. At least it looks pretty.

they SHOULD have grand moff tarkin in episode III. but what IS a grand moff? anyone? bueller? they could have a younger Tarkin, before he became grand moff. maybe just regular moff? i do NOT see how they could introduce Chewie and still make it seem like he has NOT been seen before in episode IV. it DOES seem that he would NOT have been around prior to ANH. and he is seen WITHOUT han solo? of course we get to see General Kenobi fight alongside Leia's (adopted) father as per Leia's holographic message to ben/obi-wan kenobi. THAT would be something.

hmmmm.... Chewie in Ep III. So in ANH like C3P0 and R2D2 he doesn't recognice Obi Wan? Maybe that is how Obi Wan does find a "pilot" who is able to help them so quickly in ANH.

It could've shown Tarkin as Palpatines right hand man (in terms of military), he could order the extermination of the Jedi.

Ackbar could be one of the first freedom-fighters ala Rebels.

Oh well, when I heard Boba Fett was gonna be in Episode II I cringed but I still liked Ep2 despite Boba giving a piss poor performance. Jango was good though.

I never liked Empire Strikes Back, because at the time, I was too worried about Han Solo and I was too young to understand the concept of a cliffhanger in anticipation of a sequel.

I was sure Han would just be a freeze-pop for the rest of forever.

Episode II blew chunks...what's-his-face the guy who played Anakin needs to be dragged out into the street and shot...He gave an absolutely piss poor performance. Did anyone really connect with Anakin? Did you get the feeling that Anakin's rage was really building...I didn't. Right after we shoot that character...shoot Jar-Jar...he has got to be the most annoying character ever created. Thank god he only played a small part in Episode II.

Anyways...that's my rant and rave...

Well, in consideration to the timeline.
It's perfect to have Chewie in there, it would explain his own motivation for rebelling.
From what I understand the Empire enslaved his race.

A Grand Moff is considered a governor of a large sector of the galaxy, both administrative and military.
And yes, they should have a younger version in III

Star Wars: Perfect
Empire Strikes Back: Somber, but good
Return of the Jedi: Done Well (I could have done without the ewoks, why couldn't they be wookies?)
Episode I: Too much setup, drawn out, kind of cartoonish.
Episode II: Excellent, filled in a lot of holes, great fight scenes.
Episode III: I think will blow you away.

The ewoks are unforgivable and represent the beginning of the downward spiral that became episodes one and two...

I don't consider myself a Star Wars scholar (and perhaps this would be better served by a separate thread), but what is the fascination with "cute" little characters for George Lucas?

I've often heard the Ewok criticism of Return of the Jedi and Jar Jar Binks was blasted a few years ago.

The stories are usually strong and you can't go wrong with the classic good vs. evil. Great characters and solid special effects....but why get cute and cuddly?

damn Rogue,

Well said.

I personally think Episode 4 is the best as well, but that could be the rose colored glasses of youth.

Two was definitely better than one, although the battle with Darth Maul was great. Still, watching a charge of Jedi made Two all the worth while, plus we finally found out what the infamous "Clone Wars" was about.

I also enjoyed revisiting the Owens and I found it incredibly sad that Anakin would one day return and kill his half brother.

Maybe because he wants to grab all audiences..
alpha phi hates the ewoks....I love them....a lot of women I know like the characters like ewoks and jar jar...

that being said...I like the origional series of Star Wars pretty evenly.
The new ones...well I'm getting kinda bored of it...I still watch them and find it interesting who was who...but still get bored

You make a good point. I understand that you certainly can't please everyone, but tossing in the cute, fuzzy guys seems like he's trying to appeal to a different audience other than pleasing his core group.

Of course, who am I to question the man?!?! It's picking on minor point in an otherwise great movie.

Thanks for your opinion!

I'm pretty sure that Episode 3 is gonna be "Star Wars: Attack of the Cameo Appearences" and this is probably the first of many cameos we can expect. I mean, shit, Episode 2 is based around a character that was in the original (pre-Special Edition) series for probably a total of 20 minutes.

Maybe Episode 3 will be an all Greedo movie.

I'll probably watch episode just cause. The only problem I really hated with episode II is that it bounced from action to romance too many times....action.romance...action...romance...and then..big kick ass fight scene...and then closed with some romance....if they would of made it a smoother plot I would of loved it.

In the rereleased IMAX version they edited out lots of the romantic scenes. that made it a bit smoother...

Everyone in the South MUST have a nickname. All of my sisters, brothers, and cousins have one that is known only by us (sort of like a sietch-name from Dune).

Hers was Wookie, and no one remembers the origin. Others are Bird, Jericho, Chink, Duggah, Tex, Spud, Monk, Pluty, Jug, and Dub.

Now, I have to say that they could easily put Chewie in the next movie. This will show my geekiness, but, The Wookies were enslaved by the Empire to work for them, in the spice mines, I think. A young Han Solo rescued him, and Chewie vowed a life debt to him. So, they could concievably show the rescue, and not have them interact with any of the main characters.

The story of Han's rescue of Chewbacca is told in the Han Solo trilogy books (The Paradise Snare, The Hutt Gambit, and Rebel Dawn) and it takes place well after the Clone Wars. The timeline wouldn't work right for it to be shared in Ep3.
