I realize there have been past threads regarding this mini-series but I just saw it for the first time this past weekend and I just have one thing to say: Jesus Christ! Wow, it is worlds past phenomenal....after the final episode I was balling like a little girl. I was so damn good I can't believe that I hadn't seen it previously. I just went I bought it and it watched it all over again. The best $100 I ever spent in my life. Sorry, just had to share.

My friend has had it since it came out on DVD. Ive been wanting to borrow it but simply havent had the time to sit and watch it all through. I have seen about 2 episodes...they were incredible to say the least.

my dad subscribed to HBO just for this series. it was WORTH IT. he bought the DVD as soon as it came out, I've seen the series all the way through twice. I LOVE IT. the characters are so awesome, I can't get over it. people who don't like it are the people who won't sit down and honestly <i>watch</i> it.

Have you seen the documentaries about the series? Watching the two veterans go back to the site of the Battle of the Bulge is amazing.

yes, I watched the whole thing, with my wife, who likes action and war movies (she is after all the perfect woman)
It is realy as good as everyone has said- an excelent example of when film makers DONT fuck up- and tell a true story that you simply HAVE to watch- it took us only three days to watch it all- and I still think it is one of the best war pieces ever made......

It's an amazing series. I loved the interviews with the surviving soldiers.

Yeah, I only watched the first few episodes, because i haven't had time to get back into it, but i was astounded by the whole thing, it was just so amazing...

Especially when, in the first couple of episodes, they met the Nazi kid from Eugene, i just about fell out of my seat, because i'd forgotten stuff like that happened...

Need to rent the rest.

It's absolutely incredible, the emotion and the struggle of the soldiers in World War 2 is characterised beyond what I thought would be ever be possible on film. It just makes you realise what kind of heroes our grandfathers were to be involved in such a plight.

If you liked the mini series, do yourself a favor and read the book by Stephen Ambrose. It's an amazing read. It gets even more in depth with the guys in the Company and the things they faced.

I look up to every single one of the men in Easy. If they aren't heros, then who the hell is?

Also have to give it up for Stephen Speilberg and Tom Hanks for getting the series made. So real it makes my hair stand on end.

the time they stumbled upon the Concentration Camp near the end of the series was a serious emotional moment for me........it came out of nowhere and I just couldn't imagine how something that bad could have existed......it puts things into perspective

The series came out on Sunday Sept 9, 2001. I know that because I went to work that Monday (the 10th) and was talking about it with my co-workers on how incredible the men of that generation are. As we left his office, I remember saying, "my generation is so lazy and weak, I think we need another war" I really regret saying that. The next morning, my skyline was on fire.

The end of the 3rd Bothers, when the blonde kid goes blind (Blyth?) was amazing! The tanks, screaming bullets, explosions and general confusion was perfect. When the battle was won for the Americans I noticed my heart was pounding, I cant think of to many other shows that have had that effect.
I bought the DVD, money well spent.

It's right up there with From the Earth to the Moon. HBO does some of the best original programming in the US.

The most excellent mini-series I have ever seen. It's amazing how you start watching the first episode and you get so attached to each character. When a character gets injuried or dies, you actually feel sad.

I think the characters are so well portrayed and developed from 1SG Lipton, to Maj Winters. Then after you watch it all you remember it all really happened. Simply stunning.

Agreed, it's a very easy read and very short, the perfect travel companion, recommended to all.

I believe Hanks and Spielberg are working on another series, this one to take place in the Pacific.

I'm resurrecting this thread to let you all know that Band of Brothers will be airing on The History Channel starting Sunday, April 11. I'm not sure how much they'll tone it down for basic cable, but if you've been waiting to see it before picking up the DVD set, now is your chance.

Personally I bought the set before having seen it, and I couldn't have been happier.

Without a doubt, the best WWII drama ever created.

Have it, its amazing. I think the most moving part is the one where they find the concentration camp. I had forgotten that nobody really knew this stuff was happening during the war, it all came out afterwards. And when the jewish soldier who speaks german realizes why theyre here adn then has to tell them to get back inside the camp, it's just so powerful.

Definitely a great mini-series. Taped it on HBO the first time around but like it enough to buy the DVDs. Well worth the money. The whole series stuck with me so well that every time I see one of the guys who was in it in a movie, tv show, or commercial, they stand out, regardless of what part they're playing.

Yep. Instead of seeing the officer in Minority Report, I see "Buck Compton" instead :)

ha! Definitely thought that when watching Minority Report. There's a commercial out now (not sure for what; guess the actor overshadowed the product this time) where a young father keeps watching a football or baseball game while his wife is giving birth in the next room and he keeps saying he'll be right there. That was the guy who played Muck.

Holy crap. Thanks for the bumpage, I wasn't aware of that at all. Shit man, I'll definitely have to watch it. I've never even seen it.

I picked this up for 45$ a few weeks ago, havnt finished it yet though. I really like what Ive seen so far. Out of the first five episodes my favorite was the first one. I thought the whole scene when Sobel was cutting the fence was pretty funny .

Unbelievable series, I got the DVD last Xmas and its just great, I couldnt say enough good things about the quality and historical accuracy.

A must in any DVD collection ;)

They're showing all the episodes every day. Two episodes on April 18th.

I didn't watch it tonight. I was watching the Sopranos and I own the DVDs anyway. Did they edit it? I think the first episode was fairly tame, but I'm still curious how they handled it.

Yeah, what I want to know is did they edit it... I have a good bit of faith that the History Channel wont edit it, but it you never know...

I loved it too, me and a bunch of friends watched every single episode in a row, it was that good.

I saw on another board that they changed "fuckin" to "freakin," but left "bullshit" alone.

Couldn't agree more. The only shame is that they have to start in 1944. It'd be great if they start at '41....so there more of the gore :D

I have been watching it to even though I own the DVDs and watched innumerable times. After watching the DVDs, I read the book and I have to say the mini-series is far, far, far better. For example, my favorite part of the series is when Speirs runs through Foy (that still sends chills through my spine) and Ambrose describes in the most mundane and drab fashion imaginable. I learned much, much more from the series than from the book. Just my 2 cents.
