Best "bad" films

What are your favorite movies that sounded like they would be stupid, but turned out to be real solid films?

A few from my list:

The Sure Thing - John Cusack
Summer School - Mark Harmon
Adventures in Babysitting - Elizabeth Shue
Breakfast Club - well, you know

All mine are "kid" flicks, but don't limit yourself to that sub-species.

Cabin Boy, yea, nobody saw it in the theater because it was there for only 38 minutes, but it has some great moments.
I love the crew of the Filthy Whore.

Starship Troopers -- almost a self-parody
Pitch Black -- visually better than expected and had a better than expected plot
Toy Story -- great kids flick that had a ton of stuff for the grown-ups
Shrek -- not as good of a kid flick as Toy Story, but better stuff for the grown-ups

Deep Cover, Larry Fishburne and Jeff Goldblum. Like the plot of Vice City. Jeff Goldblum is surprisingly intense in it for generally being such a ho-hum actor.

I got it... Crippled Masters

It's an old school kung fu movie about two guys - one with no legs and another with no arms.

However, when the guy with no arms puts the guy with no legs in his backpack thing, they become CRIPPLED MASTERS....

I'm not really sure what the movie is about, I spent most of it laughing my ass off at how incredible cheesy and horrible it was...

For cheesy martial arts, you can't beat 'Best of the Best' or it's sequels, 2,3, and 4. One of the stars of 1 and 2 is Julia Roberts' Brother. 3 and 4 are mind-bogglingly horrible.

I still cringe at the dislocated shoulder scene, only 'cause I've had a few of those, and even thinking about it gives me phantom pains.

Monsters Inc. I thought it would have been crapping and stupid but it was great. Just the fact that the city was powered by the screams of little children had my head spinning for most of the more sappy and not so fun parts. Over-all biggest movie surprise i've had in a while

The Evil Dead. When we were 12 or 13, a bunch of mates and I got into the habit of hiring out cheesy horror flicks to laugh at. Evil Dead was ludicrous, but somehow became one of my favourite movies of all time.

Babe:Pig in the City, should be utterly terrible, I mean, it's about a stupid little pink pig, but it's got some surprisingly deep ideas. And the chase scene is one of the funniest things I've every seen...

It's certainly not an 'A' class movie, but I watch it almost twice a year on TBS, and I've flirted with buying it on eBay.

Is it sad that many of the movies you guys have mentioned are my favorites?

Momento (pure genious)
Escape from New York (classic)
Evil Dead movies
Cube (not so much the sequel though)
Big Trouble in Little China
Office Space (hilarious)
Deep Cover (any Fishburne movie rocks)

but the king of them all is Dead Alive. That movie is the funniest, and quite possibly the goriest, movie I have ever seen. The monster make up is great, but the acting is so very bad. I mean, where else can you hear a line like "I kick ass for the Lord!"

classic

I second "Tremors".

And I have to recommend the extremely gory kung-fu movie
"Story of Ricky". It's excellent. A lot of splatter, and the plot is kind of ridiculous. Ricky goes to prison, and kills, well, kind of everybody. A lot of ridiculous "bosses", and sadistic wardens.
