Jaws and the Exorcist when they first came out. Terrifying at the time. Limited special effects, just scary story and music. Awesome.

Jaws - I saw this movie when i was a little kid. Being in the water has never been the same for me since.

When i was younger the movies that scared me was IT and the Halloweens. Recently the movies that stick out in my head is The Exorcist pt. 3. And this one movie that was on HBO like 7 yrs ago. It was about a serial killer that looked like Jesus. He was building a arc like Noah and putting bodies in it. Bad description, but maybe someone will know. Anyway, that was a scary-ass movie.

^^^ HAHAHA
but seriously.. I just saw the original Texas Chain Saw Massacre... that was probably one of the scarier movies I've ever seen.. it's insane how much modern horror draws off of the techniques pioneered in this film =P and Cabin Fever .. it's so cheesy and nearly b-movie that it... jeezus.. I had nightmares! I never get nightmares... |
The Ring was scary... The Orginal Texas Chain Saw was fucked up not as much scary... when the old old man was dropping the sledge hammer on the girls head messed up stuff. House of A Thousand corpes was kinda scary even though they stole stuff from other classics

When rating a scary movie, you must to have seen it in the theatres. So my pick is the new Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Now i'll admit, there are alot of flicks that rank @ close seconds (and honestly, i've seen ALOT of horror flicks), but being that I saw the original, and knew how they were going to die, and it was still scary, this had to get it props for one of the scariest movies.
