What movie would you like to see made?
After seeing the first two Lord of the Rings movies and how well they portrayed elves, dwarves, etc., I think I would like to see R.A. Salvatore's Dark Elf (Drizzt) novels made into movies.
What books would you like to see made into movies? |
Michael Crichton's "Prey," but you just know it'll be here next year anyway.
|
Gates of Fire: An Epic Novel of the Battle of Thermopylae - Tells the story of tthe Battle of Thermopylae in 480 B.C., when 300 warriors of Sparta held back an overwhelming number(over one million) of rampaging soldiers from the Persian Empire for six days before being wiped out.
and it better be rated 'R'. Its got to be bloody! |
Wheel of Time Movie!!!
|
I'd like to see Splinter Cell get turned into a movie along with the Otherland series, also would love to see Neil Gaiman's Sandman turned into film (though it would be a near impossible task).
|
I'd LOVE to see some Orson Scott Card books made into movies. He is a genius at makeing moral delimas the center of his sotries while not sacraficeing anything in the way of fun, action or fantasy. One in particular, _Enchanted_ Is a great retelling of the old Russian Sleeping beauty story that involves accadamians and fantasy based(as opposed to hard core sci-fi based) time travel.
|
Cormac McCarthy's Blood Meridian.

If they could convert a book into a movie without chopping parts out, I'd say George RR Martin's Game of Thrones, or Orson Scott Card's Ender's Game. edit: actually, don't make Ender's Game into a movie... the book was so good, if they tried making a movie based on it it would only ruin it. |
Not necessarily a book but I would like to see the Legend of Zelda series made into a movie. Those games are classics.

The Wheel of Time movie would be awesome. I heard somewhere a while ago that they were looking at making one. I'm reading George R. R. Martin's A Clash of Kings right now. That series would make a great set of movies as well. |
i always thought a movie based on the PC game series "Thief" would be great...but then again, it could ruin the atmosphere of the game completely.
|
how aboooooooout...
The "Illuminatus Trilogy" based on the rambling psycho-conspiracy time-warp-mind-fuck 0f a book by Robert Anton Wilson and Robert Shea. I would like to play Hagbard Celine if no one minds... FnOrD Or how 'bout "The Electric Cool Aid Acid Test" HEEEEEEEEEWAAAAACK!!!!!!!! i know i know....ancient chinese reference! |
They are already working on a movie that combines the story of Ender's Game and Ender's Shadow.
|
I'd like to see them remake 1984 with an updated cast. That would be cool...
|
The samurai cop series by Laurie R. King
|
Either Neil Stephenson's Snow Crash or William Gibson's Neuromancer.
|
Dan Simmon's Hyperion series would make a cool series of movies, IF the filmmakers stayed true to the book.
Although, after seeing what they did to Starship Troopers maybe it's a better movie in my brain. |
I'm with you on the Neuromancer part, WildZero. I'd love to see something from Gibson made into a decent movie. Johnny Mnemonic just didn't cut it.
|
A movie of "System Shock" 1 or 2. That would be fucking awesome!
|
The Golden Girls - The Younger Years
|
I'd love to see a Richard Laymon novel come to the screen.

hmm well video games i think would be a cool movie,
i think command and conquer: tiberian dawn would be awesome, although the gold edition was basically a movie with all the clips between missions. tenchu would be an awesome movie as long as they made it nice and gory i think they should do an aliens vs. predator too i am a huge comic book fan too, and i think they should make an x-men spinoff movie about archangel's life, it would be one hell of a movie as for books, stephen kings dark tower series, especially the gunslinger, i love those books |
lol, Diablo 2 :p
|
The Dragon Lance Series....I would LOVE to see that made...
Go Raistlin!!! |
Yes they must make George R R Martin's Song of Fire & Ice
Trilogy ... the Imp, the Imp rules! |
Ender's Game/Shadow is in the works, though it looks like it is still a long way off. Here is a link for anyone interested:
http://www.philoticweb.net/movie/ Just don't believe that first post (posted on April Fools Day). I am pretty sure the rest of the site is serious. I too am worried about the making of this book into a movie as it was too good of a book to see butchered by hollywood. Though, it sounds like Card is very involved in the process of making the movie, so there is hope! |

would put saving private ryan and brave heart to shame as far as violence and gore goes. |
Confederacy of Dunces. John Goodman as Ignatius.
|
Good picks everyone!
Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth series would make for some great flicks as well. |
I want to see a Justise League move, done well it could be huge.
Guess LXG will have to do until then. |
The Simpsons
(live action) |
As far as Fantasy/Science Fiction goes, I've always wanted to se Edgar Rice Burroughs "A Princess of Mars" made into a live-action film; it would be great to see an army of Green Martian warriors mounted on eight-legged Thoats charging across the ancient dried seas of Mars!
|
I've got to agree with Gates of Fire. Incredible book. Makes Gladiator look like Jane Austin.
My favorite is Native Tounge. |
Stephen R. Donaldson's Chronicles of Thomas Covenant the Unbeliever double trilogy.
I always thought it could never be done, but having been amazed by Peter Jackson's version of LOTR, I now believe it could be. |
All the books from the Ender's Game Series.
|
The Book of Revelations done in a literal sense.
A Tales from the Crypt, Creepshow multistory type movie based on HP Lovecraft Stories (not ones like From Beyond, Reanimator, etc) the really scary ones An animated score to Danzig's Black Aria album. |
I want to see more Heinlein stories made into movies.
They can start with "Stranger in a Strange Land", but I want to see "Number of the Beast" in a big way. "Friday" would be another good one. and I also want to see "Starship Troopers" except with the Battle Armor this time. The cartoon is pretty good. |
Actually, "The Forever War" by Joe Haldeman would be a good adaptation in the same vein as "Starship Troopers".
|
And I'd kill to see a "Legion of Super-Heroes" movie or cartoon!
|
I read that Billy Bob Thornton's favorite novel is A Confederacy of Dunces. Indeed it is a awesome read, and I'd like to see Mr. Thornton direct this film.
A Confederacy of Dunces is the 1980 winner of the Pulitzer Prize. |
What is Wheel of Time? I must have missed something really good.
|
Every time I invite my dad to go see a movie with me , he says the only movie that would ever get him back in a theater is "Rocky vs. Rambo: For all the marbles." Time to start looking into nursing homes.
Me, I'd love a movie based on the "Fallout" RPG series. -Mikey |

Larry Niven's 'Ringworld' would be awesome on the big screen.
(If done properly) or Harry Turtledove's 'How few Remain', an alternate history story about the second war between the states. (Civil War II) |
I'd like to see Snow Crash, Neuromancer, the World War series, Apcoylapse Troll, and Necromancer made into movies.

Total Geekboy says that he would like to see Timothy Zahn's Cobra books on the silver screen
|
"The Tale of the Children of Hurin" as long as Peter Jackson is kept far away from it :)
|
Lots of good ones mentioned.
I'd like to see an Animal Farm movie. |
hate to be a fanboy, but i want to see a dbz live action movie.
|
I would like to see "Doom" as a movie. From the previews of Doom III, the movie would be pretty awesome.
|
the Thomas Covenant trilogy.
|
Steppenwolf by Hermann Hesse
The Rum Diary by Hunter S Thompson and Lord of the Barnyard: Killing the Fatted Calf and Arming the Aware in the Cornbelt by Tristan Egolf |

I'm thinking System Shock 2. It would be a very psychotic and disturbing film.
|
Aliens vs. Predator
|
Rainbow Six, need a new John Clark and Ding Chavez movie to break up the "Ryan"verse monotony. Also it would never work, Hollywierd would fuck it up faster than a fart in a windstorm but I'd really like to see an adaptation of Micheal Moorcock's Elric of Melnibone series on the big screen. That would be damn kewlies and L33T and whatever else the kids are using for "cool" these days
|
There was an amazing Star Trek book I once read (sorry I can't recall the title) about the maiden voyage of the original Enterprise with Captain Robert April commanding and Kirk's fater as first officer. It was an urgent rescue mission that was sabotoged by the Romulans even before any human had ever seen one. They have a chance to cripple the whole Romulan empire before it ever becomes a threat. From start to finish I always thought this book would make the best Star Trek movie ever.
|
Stranger in a Strange Land done per the uncut version of the book, with whatshisface (Darth Vader voice) as Jubal.

I mean, imagine some of the scenes! Hiro in the inflatable building, after he finds that deposed president: decapitation, chase scene, everything. He'd look like Wolverine on his motorcycle. Y.T.'s escape from the helecopter, or, better, her attack on the Federal building. That'd be fucking amazing!! Neuromancer is part of a trilogy, so that'd be kinda tough. And it's not as good as Snow Crash, anyway. |

Man, I've not been able to re-read that stuff for something like 15 years, but I used to be really in to it, so I guess I can see where you're coming from. It'd be a bunch of movies more about overcoming and growing than about leprocy per se. |

I mean, every season they'd have different tech. If each season was one "out and back" sequence, it would last what, 4 or 5 years? |
