Schindler's List on DVD?

This thread got me to thinking... one of my favorite all-time movies has been "Schindler's List".

Now, as far as I know, there is no DVD in production for this movie. I can't find out for sure if there has ever been.

So, does anyone know if Spielberg and/or the studio plans to change that?

I've seen a few "Schindler's List" DVDs on eBay, and at this vendor, some Internet site called "MoviesValley.com". I can't decide if they're fakes or not. It would be nice to know since I'm considering spending the bucks to get the movie since I can't rent it from Netflix (or, obviously, anywhere else).

Anyone know any more about this movie on DVD?

I posted this in the "Most Wanted DVDs" thread, but I'll post it again here.

According to The Digital Bits, Schindler's List has been confirmed for a 2004 release. There isn't much information for it, however. Until then, any DVDs you see are bootlegs. I'm guessing on a movie like this it will be worth the wait for a legitimate release.

For more information, check this thread at the DVDTalk forums.

Have you read the book Schindler's Ark by Tom Kenneally upon which the movie is based?

Renamed, stupidly, Schlinders List in the US, but there you go: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...glance&s=books

Highly recommended. It makes your heart ache.

Thanks Batman, that's great news. I figured they were bootleg. Guess I'll just rent a vhs copy of it for a near-future viewing.

I've seen the movie already... not really interested in the book. Just want to watch it again since the release of The Pianist. I haven't seen it in a couple years.

I think it was probably one of the greatest movies I've ever viewed. I remember (only a few movies have done this to me ever) that after the credits rolled, the theater was rather silent and just well...somber. I just didnt' feel the same. Spielberg in my mind is a master. That happened to me again in Saving Private Ryan. You leave feeling numb. I remember the ride home...it was just quiet, and this is with a car full of people mind you. It was at that point I realized what that old slow driving person, did something far greater in his life than I ever could imagine.

Ok, maybe I should clarify... movies are easier to do than books. So I tend to watch a lot more movies than read books.

That said... I've read "Maus" (& "Maus II") by Art Spiegelman. Another of those great Holocaust stories.. with some interesting twists.

I'm just a sucker for drama.
