Im talking about the Saturday morning variety, yes I all know we miss Futurama and Family Guy

Gargoyles- lots of hidden Shakespeare references
X-men- The ones before Evolution series
Batman Beyond- Don't really have a reason

Oh come on, what about family guy? That show was awesome.

Well thanks a lot for editing that in there AFTER my post. But anyway, i guess the older x-men series was pretty cool. I can't really think of too many others that i watched that often.

Animaniacs.... and Pinky and the Brain

Animaniacs (amazing how many sexual references got in there), and Pinky and the Brain (close to, what, 40 political jokes per 15 min?). also, the mid 90s X-men animated series, as opposed to the previous X-men series (late 70s early 80s, I'd guess) and the "Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends" series before that.

i'll back up those who mentioned animaniacs, the tick, and the fmaily guy. all of them were clever, well written, and appealed to wide audiences who got different things from it.

another winner in my book was freakazoid. it was a little silly, but the same tounge-in-cheek jokes that fueled animaniacs kept this show interesting.

Gotta go with the Tick, Animaniacs [perhaps the best ever!] and Pinky and the Brain. Also Spider-Man of the early 90s--don't like this new MTV one.

Why? Because it is one Saturday morning cartoon that actually made me laugh whenever I got the chance to watch it.
And Transformers, but the first generation ... way back when. That was some good watchin'.

Best cartoon ever canceled was THE TICK! Man i wish they would put out the DvD's. MY favorite villian is The Midnight Bomber what bombs at Midnight! YEAH BABY YEAH!!!!

The original Transformers... Armada sucks.

Digimon is quite clever seeing as how they're using a lot of current cyber/internet related issues. Better than Pokeshit.

Animaniacs, Freakazoid, the Tick, Rockos Modern Life, Ren & Stimpy. Wasn't Pinky & the Brain a part of Animaniacs? Gargoyals, Two Stupid Dogs. And lastly and most importantly Invader ZIM. Which rocked the house. What a great show.

Hey what was that cartoon about that sheriff who had a blue horse and when need be the horse would stand up on it's two legs grow huge muscles and don a big bazooka gun and help him fight the bad guys. I remember it had the word "Star" in it I just don't remember the rest haha. I dunno why but I liked that one.

I thought that was the funniest carton ever made. The writing was just enough to keep the kids laughing and a little adult humor snuck in to keep us "big kids" laughing.

HA, I was gonna mention Bravestar but for some reason I didn't beleive anyone one would remember it.

What was that cartoon that the futuristic cops, with the robotic dog with a siren on his back and the one cop with some sort of bionic commando hand cuff thing? Anyone?

Actually, that one was just called C.O.P.S.. Used to be one of my favorites, that along with Thundercats and Silverhawks. They rereleased it in the mid-90's on CBS Saturday mornings, under the name Cyber C.O.P.S.- I guess to separate it from Fox's Cops. I remember thinking it was cool that the chief of police (Bulletproof Vess) was a black dude, even though he hardly ever did any real police work.

Good ol' Gatchiman. I loved that cartoon, mostly for the guy who was second in command. Everyone else has these freaky ninja weapons. He just carried a big frikkin' gun.

Ahhh good old Rocko, I soo miss that cartoon. I also wish they still made S.W.A.T.Cats, that was an awesome show, used to watch it every weekend, one of Hanna Barbera's best. Are the Roughnecks still around? I haven't had cable for a while, but I actually bought a whole season of that show.

I was crushed at the cancellation of The Tick, Freakzoid and Rocko's Modern Life, but none compared when I found out that Invader ZIM was cancelled.

well, i´m not entirely sure if these cartoons are still around - and i wish they were.

Astro Boy and Transformers were my absolute favs way back when.

this semester has been great since i´ve been studying Tezuka Osamu and Astro Boy in my Jap Animation course... lots of memories brought back.

I Am Weasel - Funniest damn modern kids cartoon. Hands down.

I agree with so many of the above posts, but I also must shed a tear for the cancellation of Batman: The Animated Series.

definetly the critic since at least the tick and family guy get love from other people(dvd sets and petitions). duke phillips ruled!

One was a little know action cartoon called Galaxy Rangers. Teh other was Star Blazers which I never got to see the last episode of the first saga/season.
