Roald Dahl Omnibus

I recently bought "The Roald Dahl Omnibus" from the B&N bargain aisle for $9.98, and I can safely say that's the best tenner I've spent in a while. I've always loved his children's books, but the short stories in this collection blow them out of the water. All the stories have a very noir-ish quality to them, coupled with Dahl's style of edgy, self-parodying banter. Highly recommended to anyone who likes a big book of short stories. p.s. any other Dahl fans here? outside of his children's books, that is p.p.s. an omnibus is an anthology of one author's stories, not an all-knowing public transit vehicle :D |
yea, ive got a couple Dahl short stories books. made a couple animations based on his stories as well.
a very entertaining writer if ya ask me. |
Big fan here. The old "Alfred Hitchcock Presents" used to mine his short stories for material quite often- I remember episodes based on "Man from the South" with the guy who cut your finger off if you lost a bet with him (he was played by Peter Lorre), another with the woman who clubbed her husband to death with a leg of lamb then fed the evidence to the police, and one with the lottery guy on the ocean liner. There may have been more, but memory fails me...

Roald Dahl was a genius. One of the authors very influential in the way I think actually cause I read all his stories by age 14. Is that good?

I am a huge Dahl fan, he is/was absolutely brilliant.

I never knew he wrote anything other than childrens books. I guess I should pay attention more to what's going on.

Roald Dahl is definately one of my favorite authors :)

I will check that book out. I also had no idea he did things other than kid stuff. I thought he had an edge and wit not usually found in kid books. Thanks for the good word.
