Greatest Action Film(s) you've seen?
 

I must see more movies, but on low budget, everything is advertised as being gloriously gloriful, so I need help, help me out movie afficianados! What should I see!

my all time favourite action flick has got to be Predator. Arnie at his best.

would you list Battle Royale as an action flick?
if yes, then put that one down for as well.

The Matrix, if you count it as action and not Sci Fi.

Police Story 1/2 and almost any other early Jackie Chan stuff

The Indiana Jones movies are great - Raiders of the Lost Ark, Indian Jones and the Temple of Doom, and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.

The Die Hard trilogy is another great set. -Die Hard, Die Hard 2, Die Hard: With a Vengeance

face/off, true lies and matrix were very very enjoyable

I purposely did not include Black Hawk Down right off the bat because Saving Private Ryan is better, but BLD is certainly a good choice.

Arnold is the undisputed King of Action.

Hate to repeat but I have to go with Highlander and I'll throw in The Crow.

DIE HARD WITH A VENGEANCE!!! Pure adrenaline from start to finish!

The Matrix, The Matrix Reloaded, LOTR:FOTR, LOTR:TT, all the Indiana Jones movies, true lies was good, the crow, Terminator 2, Saving Private Ryan, and Desperado to name a few.

I like war movies.

Saving Private Ryan, I guess. Great movie; very well done.

How on earth did this thread get so far without anyone mentioning Hard Boiled?

No film comes even close to the sheer brilliance of this film. Puts Hollywood to shame.

Die Hard, and ROTLA and Last Crusade from the Indiana Jones trilogy.

Some good films have been mentioned like Highlander, but you've got to include Desperado, some bloody good explosions in that film.

Excellent excellent movie.

no one has mentioned the lethal weapon series. I also like old arnie movies, both conan movies and Red sonja are excellent.

Can't forget Aliens. Lots of cool memorable action. Like said above , Predator is another awesome one.

Desperado has some of the best gunfights i've seen in any movie. Predator is good too!

Terminator 2 and Die Hard With a Vengeance come to mind when I think of GOOD action movies, especially T2. What an excellent, excellent movie.

The Way of the Gun -- People decry the script as unsound or fragmented or whatever, i thought it was pulled off pretty well, and the gunfights are spectacular. as a reviewer as said, gunfights played off like a ballet. nearly as good as peckinpaw films, the wild bunch etc. brian singer directed or wrote the screenplay or both, he was the mind behind The Usual Suspects.

another suggestion:

The Replacement Killers - Very stylish action film, but don't expect much of a story. Starring Chow Yun Fat, and with more than a nod towards John Woo (who happens to be an executive producer)

Adding to good action films:

Equilibrium had excellent fighter, top notch at that. Too bad the story wasn't very good.

Action Movies eh? Id say Resevoir Dogs, Boondock Saints, Heat - great movie though may not be action perse, The Band of Brothers Series. Etc anything by Quintin Terinteno you know is pact with violence.

The new movie with The Rock, "The Runaround" is a pretty good all-out action flick.
