That Honda commercial is quite impressive.

One of the commercials I really like is the Kia commercial with the blonde chick that goes through a bunch of boyfriends, all of which they show being in the car with her.

At the end, her car runs out of gas, and the tow truck guy gets out and starts walking towards the car. The girl then gives the cutest look I have ever seen in a commercial, and thus also received the prestegious of the cutest female I have yet to see in any advertisement. You really have to see the ad to know what I am talking about, but I am really a fan of the girl in that advertisement. :)

I don't know if I can pick a current fav, but I loved the Kit Kat commercial of the zoo photographer who takes a 'Kit Kat break' and that's when the 2 panda bears come out on roller skates and do a dance. Very cute.

I saw an article that said that that Honda ad was real. It supposedly took like over 600 takes to get right.

The Honda commercial can't be real unless Honda has some new tire that defies the laws of gravity. Great commercial.

defy gravity by putting weights on the side of the wheel to make it appear to "roll" uphill.... simple physics101.

There was a commercial during the Super Bowl a few years ago, with 2 men, in their garage, playing the harmonica and the spoons (I believe) while a monkey danced.

The tag line was "We just wasted a million dollars of our money. What are you doing with yours?"

It was for some financial service, but for the dancing monkey alone.......I SALUTE YOU!!!

Yeah, I could never understand that. As far as revenue models go, Adcritic should have been the proverbial gold mine. A web site that asks <B>you</B> to run your advertisements. I would have thought companies would be paying out the yin-yang to get a good seating on that site.

I don't know if any of you remember this one, but a few years back there was a superbowl commercial for a car, I think it was Nissan. There was this flight of pigeons that were trying to shit on the car, and they were talking like they were bomber pilots. They all missed, except for one who still had some "ammunition" left. The one says "I'm going in!" and keeps flying after the car alone--right into the front of the garage. As it falls down, it says "Mayday!"

I know that one's a few years old, but it still cracks me up every time I think about it.

Argh! "Good commercial" is an oxymoron! I have to get TiVo and thus excise all television advertisments from my life. Now if I can just get glasses that block print ads...

This was one of the original e-trade commercials (I think that they even had la cucharacha playing in the background while they were doing this too).

One of my favorite commercials is still the monster.com ad that had a bunch of kids saying what they wanted to be when they grew up.
"I want to be a brown noser"
"I want to be a yes man"
"I want to be underpaid and overworked",
etc.

That chick in the Kia ad always makes me think of Renee Zellweger, especially with that last look. What a cutie.

My current fave is the Heineken commercial: "The real reason they walked into the bar." Perfect!

My fav is still the John West Salmon commercial, with the guy kickin the bears ass for a fish. Seeing the bear breaking into its little boxing dance cracks me up.

i was just watching the final man show when they showed a reebok commercial with shakira on it. it starts off where shes on an island just wiggling and seductively dancing...and at the end we find out shes writing a giant peace sign in the sand with her shoes. i could have done without all that symbolism...but HOT DAMN SHES SMOKING....

not sure for what car company but its a pinata and this girl has a bat and she cracks a kid pretty hard. Then the comerical says "protect them while you can"... its a great one

There was a commercial for caller I.D. that featured a guy talking to a sensual massuese on the phone asking a bunch of fucktarded questions about fantasy roleplaying, if he could dress up like superman, if she would dress up like wonderwoman, if not if he could bring his wife and she would dress up like wonderwoman, and if that costs extra, it did, so he asked if they wanted to have his wife as payment. It then fades to text that says "Because there's alot of sickos out there. *caller id company*"

Great commercial but how come i never see these on TV.... all the commercials I see are CRAP!!!!! Well except for a few.

Other than they have better commercials oversea.

Outpost.com ads are excellent. As are FOX News ads (with words guys understand), like the funeral, the national anthem and the newscast.

There is one I saw a while ago on one of those shows "The World's Sexiest Commercials". It was a beer ad (don't remember the brand, sorry) with a hot chick ordering a bottle of beer and it came in a stubbie bottle (remember them?!)...she starts rubbing her hand up and down it and...voila....it turns into a long neck bottle! It was pretty good.

The Honda ad is pretty cool, although I've never seen it on the tube-- only a flash version made by someone out here on the interweb...

As far as the Kia girl with the dog-- she is a cutie and you can check her out in the new Sony Vaio ad (she's the first person we see; a waitress who overfills a coffee cup because she's so entranced by the customer's Vaio).

I was listening to some old cd's recently and then two days later saw an ad starring Lance Armstrong with music by The John Spencer Blues Explosion, one of the cd's I had just revisited. I am psychic...

Oh! Hey, has anyone seen the GM commercial pushing their new "24 Hour Test Drive"? It's got music by Meatloaf (The Dashboard Light) singing "let me sleep on it". Now, why would they choose this song? Sure, that one line fits their cause, but if you remember the song at all Meat ends up completely unhappy with his decision and prays for the sweet release of death. I see this ad and think immediately that a GM car purchase is the worst thing I could do...

Maybe it's just me...

I was going to start a thread like this but searched and found this. I love the Southwest commercials "It must be football season" I especially like the one where the checker guy says "I'm open over here" and the customer dude nails him in the chest with a pineapple. It cracks me up every time I see it.

I just saw the Coors "Wingman" commercial. That was really funny. The narrator sings about a guy who is sitting with an attractive but annoying woman so his friend can have fun with her friend on the dance floor.
crfpilot's pinapple quarterback was great too, just saw that this week.

I can think of plenty of pitches by Harlow Wilcox, Don Wilson and others from the 1930's/40's/50's that I like but damn few television spots come to mind. Some of my favourite radio ads from the golden years of the medium:
0) the Lipton Soup ads on The Inner Sanctum
1) cig commercials - Raleigh on the Red Skelton show, the "LSMFT" for lucky strike on the Jack Benny Show, Camel Cigs on the Abbot and Costello show, and others
2) Hearing Harlow Wilcox talk about Johson Glo Coat/Car Nu or Autolite sparkplugs actually makes me feel enthusiastic about the product
3) Jello/Grapenut Flakes Ads - Don Wilson did a wonderful job on them, but I still think that Orson Welles (when he subbed for Jack Benny in 1940 for three weeks) did one of the best commercials for Grapenuts Flakes.

i remember listening to them on sports radio, but now theyre on tv. best commercials ever.

The Nike soccer ads have to be amonst the best. Another one is for milk. This guy is saying to his wife that the milkman must of slept with almost every woman in the street but at least there is one he hasnt been with. His wife just says "It must be that bitch in number 23".

One commercial that always impressed me was made by Ikea. It shows a family in a living room having an argument. The daughter reveals to the parents that she's pregnant, and the parents flip out. The dad blames the mom, because she did drugs in college or something. Then, an Ikea worker steps in, and its revealed that they were just having a mock argument on an Ikea showroom floor.

For some reason, that commercial crossed some invisible line. It was a little TOO real, and the subject matter was too unsettling for just some random commercial. And that's why I loved it :)

I remeber some ad a couple of years ago where they played clips of people trying to get their cars started in horror movies like in the night of he living dead remake or one of the friday the 13hs(second one?) anyways the end flash was something like diehard(or Gm) get something you can count on. i 'd kill to see that one again.

My favorite of all time still has to be the Snickers commercial where a football player gets hit and believes he's Batman.

the two current ones that i find hilarious are:

(1) The Bacardi and Cola guys
(2) The grapermelon gum commercial (in the office, people bust out of a file cabinet, window, and water cooler to get the gum)

they aren't the most genius commercials ever written, but the deliveries by the actors (especially the deadpan Bacardi and Cola guys) are perfect.

My two fave commercials at the moment are:

1) The new Mini. Scene has a mini parked on some lover's lane, A guy and girls sit up the front seats pulling on clothes, hair all mussed up, etc. The girl goes "These mini are pretty roomy" A Second girl sits up in the back seat pulling on her bra "They sure are"

Gotta love it.

2) Heineken commerical. Scene opens with a bartender behind a bar drying glasses. A priest, a rabbi and a minister walk into the bar and get heineken. Several typical "a [whatever] walks into a bar..." joke come in including a blonde, a brunette and a redhead (the blonde tries to open the bottom of her Heineken until the brunette truns the bottle right side up for her). An annoucer gives the Heineken tagline (something about how it's all about the beer) ad the commerical ends with the blonde looking around confusedly and saying "I don't get it" as the commercial ends.

Pretty clever.

But it's hard to top the "But I'm Batman!" classic. =)

i'd only seen that commercial in the philippines too. never in the states.. unless you count a greatest commercials show.

For classic ads, who can forget Macintosh's 1984 ad during the Superbowl?
Also, the one where the female blind date is picked up, and while her date is going around the car, she does the one cheek sneak, not realizing there is another couple in the car.
The european xbox, where the woman shoots the baby out, who goes hurtling around the earth, aging, till he is an old man crashing into his grave?
or the nike soccer team shows up for a game, and it's in hell. They are playing skeletons and demons, and they are getting their asses kicked, till one fights back to the goal. Satan spreads his wings to cover the entire goal, so the player kicks the ball right through his chest.
And then the nike commercial pulled during the olympics, wher ethe female jogger returns to her cabin after a run through the woods, is attacked by man wearing a hockey mask, runs into the woods, and leaves him in the dust. He finally stumbles away, exhausted. The tagline: "run, you'll live longer"
