Fulltime Killer (Chuen jik sat sau)
Was wandering through Blockbuster the other night, this caught my eye.. what great movie :) loved the cues it took from leon/el mariachi, even a fight club reference thrown in for good measure. Brilliantly acted, solid storyline, one of the best movies ive seen recently, barring perhaps Infernal Affairs :)
Anyone have any recommendations on films done to the level of quality as the former two mentioned? Just recently started taking an interest in asian cinema, and i've yet to be terribly disappointed (ok maybe Versus, but i suspect that what i saw was a shit US edit) |
agreed, great movie, but wuts Asia obsession w/ hired killers
check out my other thread for other asian films http://tfproject.org/tfp/showthread....threadid=25020 |
I'll have to check it out.
I liked Versus. It was decent, but I thought the ending made it really cool. |

infernal affairs was (co)directed by Alan Mak who also directed the excellent "a war named desire" often called a movie with a milkyway feel. great online sources for reviews of asian movies are kfccinema and lovehkfilm the latest has a people-index where u can look up which director made what movies, interesting once you get to know some directors/actors. i'm into asian movies for 2 years now, and discovering new gems every day. |
A quick question posed: how would one go about getting the dvd's for these films, and furthermore, whats the most economical, and conversely, the highest quality way to view these films? (ie, which region-free dvd player to purchase, which dvd program to get for playback on computers)
|
An aside: i just realized that all the films im interested are available at the very least in region 0 coding ( i had inferred that region 0 meant asia, where in fact it means region free), so it looks like im in the clear :p now to find a place to purchase them...
