Did you buy LoTR:TTT today?

See title. Did you buy Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers today?

I did, and I'm going to buy the extended edition too. I'm going to pass on the collectors set.

Halx 08-26-2003 04:34 PM

I'm not being fooled again.. I am waiting for the extended version

Loup 08-26-2003 05:17 PM

I'll rent it (unless I find someone who got it) and buy the Extended version.

WhoaitsZ 08-26-2003 05:25 PM

bought it.

hal, it wasn't a secret about the extended feature last year. same this year

BulletBob 08-26-2003 05:30 PM

Yep

archer2371 08-26-2003 05:38 PM

Yup, picked it up (I had it reserved at Blockbuster) this morning like 15 minutes after the store opened. I will be getting the Extended Version in November.

The_Dude 08-26-2003 06:11 PM

i saw it at the theaters and that's enough for me.

Mr.Deflok 08-26-2003 06:18 PM

I bought it yesterday, (timezone difference) I intended not to buy it for the same reason as Halx plus I didn't like TTT that much however it was my least favourite of the three novels too. The main reason I bought it though was for the 10 minutes preview of ROTK, which was in my opinion the best of the three novels.

Good thing is that my brother said he'd buy the extended edition in November.

Same here, and a friend has it and is bringing it over tomorrow. :)

onodrim 08-26-2003 06:54 PM

When Fellowship come out, I bought the theatrical release, even though I knew the extended cut was coming, just for the extra features. Then I realized that was a silly waste of money. :p So this time around, I'm just gonna wait for the extended edition.

yournamehere 08-26-2003 08:56 PM

I almost ended up buying it twice.

I ran into the grocery store after work, right at the beginning of a thunderstorm - so I wanted to get in and out and homeward bound ASAP.

I saw the VHS version of The Two Towers, and immediately grabbed the thinner DVD package below it.

Well, I got home and unwrapped it, only to discover I had just bought another Fellowship of the Ring DVD!!!

I took it back to the store later and offered, "OK - I'll admit it was stupid to buy it without even looking at it if you'll admit it was stupid to put FOTR DVD's in the middle of a TTT display."

They were cool and let me swap for the one I wanted.

Still haven't watched it yet, though - maybe tomorrow night.

Edit: I should probably add - I'm not waiting for the extended version because I haven't seen the movie yet (Last time I was in a theater was to see Jurassic Park). That's right - I saw FOTR for the first time almost exactly one year ago today. Maybe I'll make an exception for TROTK

clockworkgreen 08-26-2003 09:09 PM

Did not, just bought Simpsons Season 3. :)

coke babies 08-26-2003 09:12 PM

Yes I did.

Renegade 08-26-2003 09:35 PM

I'm low on cash at the present, but will pick it up soon. Also the extended. Damn school tuition!

You must lead a lonely and miserable life ;) How come you don't go the theatres? I go nearly once a week.

Fremen 08-27-2003 12:43 AM

I'll wait for the ex-ed version.
I still haven't bought LOTR yet, either.

FlorentinoAriza 08-27-2003 04:05 AM

i'm waiting for the cool gollum statue version

in one year we'll be able to do a 12 hour lotr marathon with the 3 extended dvds. now if i could only get a dvdplayer in my computer at the job.

Heh heh - well, not exactly. Going to theaters is just a little lower on my "must do" list than on yours.

For one thing, my wife is disabled and has problems sitting in a theater seat for two hours straight.

Secondly, I found it too distracting to try to watch a movie in a crowded theater - I can't imagine how I'd react now with all the cell phones and laser pointers I hear about (actually, I can imagine).

Also, we can buy a DVD, watch it on our large screen TV w/ dolby 5.1, and have some microwave popcorn and some sodas, beers, or wine for about the same price as watching it in a movie theater once. We own it forever and have a pause button, too.

It just requires a little patience - but since I've read LOTR about a dozen times so far, I pretty much know the story - I can wait another 8 months to watch the movie versions.

HighwayStar 08-27-2003 07:00 AM

I'm going to wait for the EE. You see, I *never* buy any DVDs. In my opinion its a waste of money that I don't have, since I very rarely watch a movie more than 2 or 3 times. The only DVD that I do have it the FotR EE that I bought last Christmas.

I don't see myself buying any other new DVDs besides that. Perhaps Finding Nemo.. I loved that movie. ;)

johnnymysto 08-27-2003 08:10 AM

Bought it.

Did anyone watch the 2nd disc? I almost watched the ten-minute Behind The Scenes preview of RoTK, but I was afraid I'd see Shelob. Gotta wait for the BIG SCREEN for that!

theinfamous 08-27-2003 09:12 AM

only have enough money for one, the way i've been spending. extended version gets the nod

Daval 08-27-2003 10:16 AM

i'm definately gonna wait for the extended version....

glytch 08-27-2003 10:21 AM

I'm waiting until all three released because I just KNOW they're going to release a collector's edition of all three with some extra goodies for about 999,932 dollars, so I'm saving up for that.

WhoaitsZ 08-27-2003 10:41 AM

i'd not buy it yet if i were not totally hooked on it. it is officially Z Crack entertainment wise.

if DVDs were more expensive i'd just be irritated and rent it. but it is just cheap enough for me to afford and to me it is a 'special treat', so..... i'm watching it now and am thrilled.:)

like how lots of people are with star wars.

djflish 08-27-2003 11:15 AM

i've got TFOTR and TTT on dodgy pirate vids, but they'll do for the time being.

I'm gonna wait for the ROTK to be released in about another year and then buy the Super Mega Special Extended Edition Trilogy Box Set

mystmarimatt 08-27-2003 01:33 PM

i got it two weeks ago. my brother works at Hollywood video and gets cool stuff like that, hehe.

GarthInPittsburgh 08-27-2003 01:40 PM

I'm waiting to get trilogy...

bad30th 08-27-2003 07:58 PM

anyone know when the extended Two Towers is supposed to come out?

nostalgic1 08-27-2003 08:35 PM

waiting for the extended.. of course..

krd913 08-27-2003 08:42 PM

I bought both last time not going to happen again. I will wait for the longer version

No Shelob in the preview but Jackson said sorry for not having her in TTT but you'll be happy to see her in ROTK.

punx1325 08-27-2003 11:32 PM

I just bought it cause I want the same version as last year, there was no way I was going to buy the extended version. The movie is already long enough, I don't need 18 hrs of extras I'm never going to watch.

Right. No Shelob in the preview, you only see them in the tunnels, and that is on a TV in the backgound anyway. Watch it, it won't spoil RoTK.

Derwood 08-28-2003 10:14 AM

Extended all the way. I'm glad I waited for the extended FOTR.

Buying the same movie twice is just dumb. If you want to see it so bad, rent the theatrical release and wait to buy the extended version.

Can't wait to see what the 43 minutes of additional footage will be for TTT. Any guesses? Do we see the Entmoot? More Treebeard scenes with Merry and Pippen? Or, god forbid, more invented Aragorn/Arwen scenes?

YaWhateva 08-28-2003 10:52 AM

I am waiting for the trilogy set that will undoubtedly come out. They all better be the extended editions too.

Speed_Gibson 08-28-2003 06:07 PM

never have seen the film (just saw one of the trailers on the net some months back), and have no desire to rent this latest film at all at the moment. Might watch it one of these days in the next year or three..

Aaron0000 08-29-2003 04:07 AM

I think Im going to wait for the last one, before I even think about buying any of the Trilogy. I dont see myself sitting down and watching those films over and over again, so I dont see the reason to buy.

Glad-I-Ate-Her 09-05-2003 09:08 PM

I'm definitely waiting for the EE. The release date is November 18th. I already own the FOTR EE Gift Set. I want to collect all three even though they will come out with a mega trilogy edition in the future.
