best of futurama
since many of us are lamenting the end of futurama, how about a discussion of the best of futurama; best episodes, best quotes, best characters, etc. i'll start it off with best guest stars, who in my opinion, were the beastie boys. they really seemed to get into the spirit of the show. their sense of humour fit in well too. now, you go...

The most emotional moment was when the doggie was waiting outside the pizza place. That broke my heart, even thought I knew quite well that it was just a cartoon.
The least emotional moment was when Leela found out she had parents. Who cares? She was never a character I cared about. |

the time when fry made the I love you or somethin else with the stars and then the black hole sucked it up before leela saw it. that was sad.

Here's my rundown...
I thought the best guest stars were the original Star Trek cast or perhaps Beck. My favorite character is Zapp Brannigan (he has the best lines) or Lrr of Omicron Persei 8. I thought a good emotional moment was the last scene of Parasites Lost, when Fry plays the holophoner and makes the simple face of Leela. Favorite quotes are any conversation Zapp is in "And the rest of the dominoes will fall like a house of cards... checkmate" "Can't you ask a little more sexfully?" |

Zapp Brannigan was an excellent character. His book of pick up lines he gave Kiff contained such gems as:
"I find the most erotic part of a woman is the boobies" among others. I think my favorite character would have to be Bender. With his in-your-face interface and always stealing and not caring. I don't know why, but normally I don't like that kind of character, but Bender pulls it off every time. |

Basically anything Professor Farnsworth says is brilliant and hilarious. Even something as simple as, "Shut up, you... moron", spoken in that cranky old man voice, makes me laugh. Also, Bender is Great. He told me so himself.
My favorite guest star is 80's guy. The one with Bone-itis. Dimly Remembered Quote: 80's Guy: Need some hair gel, Fry? Fry: Nah, I make my own.

It's hard to choose the best one, but one of my favorites is the Popplers episode. Favorite scene in it is when Leila finds out that they are living creatures and it says mama or something to her. She immediately flings it across the room as it makes baby noises. Terrified she looks at her hands, then quickly sucks all her fingers to get the last of the sauce...then cut to commercial.

The Slurms McKenzie episode is one of the funniest things I have ever seen!

Also in the Popplers Episode, when Lurr ate the hippie.
"Oh, that hippie's really starting to kick in. My hands are so huge!" I had tears rolling over those lines.

ok, so i'm a big and rather emotionally stoney guy and after i watched the episode with the dog and the pizza place, "jurrassic bark", i was like wow, that was sad. Then my girlfriend says "awe" and gives me a hug and i start bawling like a little fat girl at balet auditions. Talk about opening up the psych flood gates, i cried more about that then i have about any break ups or deaths in the family. I just dont cry normally. Any way i think it was the dog that got me, its just one of the purest forms of love that exists between a boy and his dog (as seen in the movie A Boy and His Dog) and for that to go unrequited is i think a travesty on par with the canceling of futurama.

One of my favorite Futurama lines is when Fry has those billions of dollars or whatever and he's at the auction bidding for the anchovies and Fry bids "One jillion dollars" or something of the like and he's just so serious when he says it, its hilarious. Oh and the Slurm Factory episode is a great one along with the one with the Amazon women.

That one has great quotes. When they are told they will die by snoo snoo, Fry and Zapp grimace in horror, then smile, then switch between the two.
Then there's exhausted Zapp saying something like, "The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak and flabby." |

Best episode, for me, is "Where No Fan Has Gone Before," with most of the original Star Trek cast ("Welshie!!!") and Jonathan Frakes ("Finally, front row!").
Most emotional, for me like others, is "Jurassic Bark." Even watching it again knowing what's coming, it gets to me. Favourite character? I love Zapp...though personally I'm most like Fry. Quotewise? How about: Leela: This all must have something to do with the secret ingredient! Fry: My God, what if the secret ingredient is people? Leela: No, there's already a soda like that -- Soylent Cola. Fry: Oh. How is it? Leela: It varies from person to person. |

I'll have to agree in saying the episode with Fry and his dog was the most emotional one.
One of my favorites is the one where Bender is floating through space with a little village him acting as their god.

To me, every episode is a classic! My personal favorite is when the crew go back to Roswell.

Did you ever notice that in the episode where bender turns into a werecar and tries to kill fry, the beer fry pull out of bender and drinks has the word cobra with a crown over it. (you cant see the last and first letter, but there are very few *obr* words) does this mean matt groening has a preference for malt liquer, as if he werent my hero enough allready.

One of the "what if" episodes was "what if life were more like videogames?"
My favorite part was were the government asks for Fry's help in stopping the "Space Invaders." He says something to the effect of "I've got my Rush compilation tape and a bottle of Mountain Dew. It's just like Saturday nights back home." Then it shows Fry fighting the invaders while listening to Tom Saywer. Classic.
