who's better: walken or depp?
 

As good as Depp was in PotC and Fear and Loathing, nothing can top Walken from Pulp Fiction and the Deer Hunter.

Fear and Loathing was so good of a movie, man. I have to go with Johnny Depp.

Yeah, well, I do have a question. WHY is he the better actor? I've never seen anyone act wasted as good as johnny depp, and he's also really good with accents. Whats so special about walken, other than that music video he was in and the SNL sketch?

Walken just has more experience than depp dont get me wrong depp is a great actor but i would still have to go with walken

Walken has done a range of things; from funny to serious to pure evil. Depp is too introspective with most of his roles (IMO). Depp is so hot, though. It makes up for some of that :)

Walken almost always plays the same character, or at least he seems like the same character because of the way he talks. Depp has done many different things and does them all very well, and sometimes it's hard to tell it's the same person.

My vote goes to Depp.

Walken... that man strikes fear in me. Depp is good but seriously, what was he thinking with the Ninth Gate? Movies like that make me want to ban him from making movies.

Depp is a good character actor, but Christopher Walken has an unmistakeable presence, without trying so hard. I don't think you can compare the two in terms of who is the "better actor."

Walken is just plain cool, and no one can take his place in the roles he has. Depp has done a variety of great things.

Walken is just so amazing on screen, he has the most presence of anyone on screen. In pulp fiction, he was amazing, even something like joe dirt, its just a blast to watch him. He's so coo. He definatly gets my vote. but, depp was pretty fucking sweet in pirates.

Depp, I love him in anything he does

Hes much more versatile. Does completely different kinds of roles and does them to perfection. He has waaay more charisma. If you've ever seen him on a talk show or interview, hes dull, boring and quiet. This only shows how much of an awesome actor he is because he is NOTHING like the characters he play.

Anyone see Walken in that kids movie with the Bears? The title elludes me. Looked quite interesting (for Walken to be in it).

my god, man. Depp! He has at least 30 times more TYPES of characters that he is able to do. tho, walken has such a draw. no clue what it is.

Walken, because he is a god of acting, and he didn't make the movie The Ninth Gate. Depp should die for that.

First of all, the Ninth Gate was a good movie. Second of all, they are completely different types of actors. They don't even really "compare" with each other. They would have to be similarly cast to compare them with any sense of accuracy.

Walken, I dunno he is just great. So is Depp. And Once Upon a Time in Mexico looks great.

My vote's Depp

Depp is great, I love him, and he has been in more movies that I love. He is also much more versitle. That said Walken is the *only* actor (well alive) that can do that creepy thing he does correctly. While he can't really flex out of that roll two well, depp could never step into it either. Nor could anyone else.

My vote goes to Walken.

I have to agree with docbungle...I don't think you can really compare the two of them...Walken is just creepy/goofy with most of his characters, and Depp seems to always try new things. Depp will probably end up making more of a mark in the business, but Walken will always be a cult figure.
And, The Ninth Gate wasn't a horrible movie, but it was a little too heavy handed, IMO.

They are both awesome, but my vote goes to Walken.

well, depp is a character actor and walken is a personality actor, so comparing them is like comparing apples to oranges. but for my buck, myself being a character actor, i respect them more, so i have to go with Depp, it's always rad to see Walken do stuff, just because he just has that crazy vibe and voice, but i love to see how depp works with such characters and how he transfigures himself. pure devotion to the craft.

imo, Walken is incredible, and he's done great work... but nothings going to top Depps Fear and Loathing performance.

Definately Depp, he's the most versatile actor of my generation.

In conclusion, they're both excellent at what they do.

Before Pirates of the Caribbean, I would have said Walken, but after Pirates of the Caribbean, I would have to say, ehh, Walken.
