Best 80's Cartoon
Man its hard to choose a favorite but i'm a transformer all the way!
Man, all those shows were awesom. Except Scooby Doo. I never like Scooby doo. But I voted for the Super Friends because that is the only show I can watch now that doesn't make me want to pull out a gun and shoot the TV.
I totally agree with you. I used to love those shows but now there a little hard to watch!
The only childhood memories I can drudge up are NES with GI Joe episodes splattered here and there :D.
Mmmmmmm.........Nes
Definetly transformers, since Voltron wasn't on there. Voltron > all
Voltron! Should have added voltron and ditched scooby doo!
I am a Carebears, rainbow Bright kinda girl.....lol.. I did watch HE-Man, but Transformers rule!!
I'll admit, I actually watched carebears from time to time and the smurfs.
Got a problem with that? Don't tempt me *places finger on ban button* (just kidding) ;) Seriously though, why isn't Thundercats on the poll?? Thundercats beats Transformers by a LONG shot. |
Ok looks like poor scooby doesn’t have much of a fan base. That’s good I never liked him anyway. Think about it who would want to watch robots turn into cars or bears that shoot light out of their bellies when you could watch some hippies and a talking dog drive around in a van!!!
GI Joe without a doubt.
I also loved Smurfs, Alf and Fraggle Rock. |
Best 80's Cartoon V1.2
Ok after reviewing the other thread I realized I needed to add as many cartoons as possible so here we go may the best cartoon win!!
Please see the updated poll version 1.2 Thanks!
T H U N D E R C A T S ................HHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
C'mon, dude, how is any of those choices supposed to win over Transformers? :)
Between the He-Man action figures, Voltron Lunch Box, Thundercats decoder rings (Somehow my dad got a box of about 100 of them), GI Joe figures and trucks, and miscellaneous Transformers toys I can't seem to remember favoring any one of those. Sadly none of those things have survived the years. I loved them all.
Still have to go with GI Joe.
Was the show I remember most from my early childhood. |
Dude...the Chipmunks.
Straight up, biatch. |
Tough choice but I will have to go with superfriends. It would have been even harder if you had added Battle of the Planets or Star Blazers!
Having watced "Transformers - the movie" an hour ago, there is only one way to vote
im voltron hardcore i still have all of my action figures.......sort of
TRANSFORMERS!!!! MORE THAN MEETS THE EYE!!
-Autobots! Roll out!- *GHI-GIE-GHU-CHI-CHU!* |
Thundercats!
"Ancient spirits of evil, transform this decayed form into MUMMRA - THE EVERLIVING!!!" |
I think it was called the "Laff-a-lympics" or something like that. It had all of the characters racing in crazy cars and doing all kinds of weird activities to win the Gold.
Scooby had a team.....and the snickering evil dog was there too. That's entertainment!!! |
Man the transformers are ravaging the rest of these guys! I almost feel bad.
I love transformers and I voted for them but I can still remember at the end of every GI Joe the little say no to drugs and eat heatly reminders that always followed the show. At the end they always said "...And know I know! And knowing is half the battle. GI JJJJJJJOOOOOOEEEEEEEEEEEEEE." I loved that, and I repeat that all the time when I'm around my friends, most of them just look at me like I'm retarted.
Good times LordEden.....Good times....
Where's Dungeon and Dragons? That was cool!
Great cartoon! But I only had ten slots..sorry.
How could transformers be winning? I thought any transformers fan would surely see the superiority of Voltron! I remember how excited I used to get when it was on. I'm talkin the old one with the lions, not the cars in space.
I can't deny I did get excited over voltron but for me the shear number of transformers ROCKED!
Voltron must win! No mere sword wielding barbarian/talking truck/fuzzy bear/smurf/talking cat/grunt/people in spandex/ghost/talking dog can stand up before the might of The Defender of The Universe
lol William you have a way with words.
Transfromers for me edges out Voltron because of the backstory of Cybertron and all of that. I tuned out of Voltron when they changed the premise.
In fairness I tuned out of Transformers when theystarted tweaking the whole back story and changing it. WTF was that Beast Wars shit. Jesus!! |

This means we're either very hip and cool or sad geeks with no life. |
Hip and cool my friend..hip and cool.
GI Joe. My Grandpa used to make tapes of them for me on BetaMax. It was awesome.
Also I notice you didn't put Go-Bots up there. Wait a minute. Go-Bots sucked. |
That was hard!!!! I'm a huge fan of cartoons...especially the old ones....in my opinion a lot of cartoons have gone down hill since I was a kid...
I picked Scooby Doo but it was pretty much a tie b/t that and Thundercats.....if both were on tv right now at the same time I would definately watch thundercats....hmmm maybe I shoulda picked Thundercats... When I was a kid Panthro was my favorite Thunder Thunder Thunder Thunder CAts! |
Uh oh GI Joe is crawling up out of the cellar.
Gah! It was a hard decision between Transformers and Thundercats. In the end, I chose Transformers because I was more infatuated with them as a kid.
Wow, having to pick between Transformer, Thundercats, G.I. Joe and Ghostbusters....but, of course, it's Transformers all the way!
Man what’s the deal with cranking out the old cartoons again. I see we now have he-man and transformers remade! Can't people come up with some new stuff??
I'm a Joe fan. Go Joe!
Where is Jem??? :) |
Wasnt scooby doo earlier then the 80s? Transformers ruled. the Imagination level of a yound child at that time made it perfect )
Yes
scooby doo was but it went into the eighties too....if not I don't know why I remember watching it ;) |
I went with Thundercats because I put in more hours with that one. I didn't care much for the "kittens" in it, though.
Does anyone remember a show called "Saber Rider"? I watched it in '87 & '88, but disappeared, and I've never seen it since. |
Where's all the He-Man fans?
c'mon....Castle Greyskull, Snake Mountain....it had something for everyone...Teela, He-Man, Ram-man, even friggen' Orko! And what better cast of villians with Skeletor, Beastman and the gang? Thundercats was pretty cool, but Lion-O just sucked. He talked like a gameshow host. Not to mention that stupid little...Snarf? Voltron was awesome, but the Power Rangers have ruined that childhood memory for me, thank you very much..... Anyone remember a cartoon called Silver Hawks. They were in space, had wings.....bad guy was named something-star? |
Don't get me wrong He-man was very good. But Transformers was vastly superior.
How could you leave out D and D and Thundar the Barbarian (and his fabulous sun sword)?
Both of those cartoons are great. Except I never understood why oompla always drove the complicated vehicles. (until he smashed the controls!)
1 vote for the smurfs here :)
hey..imma girl, so wat u expect? ;) |
Well folks it looks like optimus prime will be scraping the rest of our 80's favorites off of his boot heal!
This Sgt. Slaughter fan has to go with G.I. Joe.
Thundercats Hoooooooo!
Its official!! Transformers have crushed the forces of gi joe, barbequed the care bears, smoked shaggy's weed then pimp slapped him, power bombed voltron through the floor, picked their teeth with egon's pointy head, squashed the smurfs for blue battle paint, skinned the thunder cats for caps, turned the super friends into energon cubes, and used He-man as a cue-tip!! Thanks for the votes all!!!
what about ninja turtles??
or were they more early 90's.......... |
Definitely Transformers....But Voltron would be a close second for me...:-)
You know I was cleaning out my attic a few years back, and you know what I came across...(well, 2 things really) I came a across one of my favorite transformers...Jet Fire...no not Sky Fire, but Jet fire....Remember him? Correct me if I am wrong, but Jet Fire was released on accident and is really hard to get a hold of, because the cartoon had a Sky Fire, not Jet Fire. Later, the toys were renames to Sky Fire and Jet Fire was discontinued because of the descrepency between the toy and the cartoon. Anyways, my Jetfire transformer is still in the box. I never opened it, and I never played with him...I was anal like that as a kid. Pretty Kool, huh?? I also ran across my original 5 lion Voltron toy. This is the OLD die cast metal version with spring loaded lion heads and all...not the el cheapo plastic version they came out with later.... I wonder if these 2 guys are worth anything....hmmm |
Man that's really cool that you still have those and yes they are worth some good money. Thanks for your reply to my thread.
Transformers and Thudercats are tied.
