Standup comedy shows
Just got home from Punchline in San Francisco. It was the first time that I had ever made it to a comedy club and damn was it fun. It's been a pretty lazy summer and I've just been hanging out with a lot of highschool buddies knowing that we are all headed back to college soon. We decided to try something different from the regular "find chics and get drunk" nights that we've been living lately. I don't know where we found out about this place but man did I have a blast--everyone did! I didn't know that the comedians get so personal with good crowds. The three that we saw just seemed to be entertaining, funny friends who are just there to laugh....what else to expect from a comedy club!
I recomend heading to club if you're just in the mood for a good laugh ;) |
I have always like the small clubs because, like you say, they are more personal and the comics tend to interact more with the crowd. Now if you go to a big venue for a major comic... say Carlin, Rock, Leary or whomever, they are still funny as hell... but they seems distant....
Its all good if you laugh |
A good late night comedy show is the last refuge for those of us that can appreciate humor in anything. Being offensive and being funny are independent of each other. When someone can do both consistently it's a joy to behold.
