What movie have you not seen, and are embarassed about not seeing it?

What movie have you not see, but all of your friends seen it. But you are embarassed to say you haven't see it?

I have not seen The Matrix, or The Matrix Reloaded.
Spiderman.

I think there are several more, but I just can't think of the name of the movie.

leon2345 07-23-2003 08:34 AM

12 Angry Men...I hear it's great and I bet it is, but I just can't motivate myself to watch a movie about jurors.

enough 07-23-2003 08:37 AM

spiderman, the new matrix, the list goes on and my must rent list has reached a state of no return lol.

SiN 07-23-2003 08:41 AM

The Godfather. Scarface. Indiana Jones.

...and many more...

i generally don't like watching movies (attention-span issues)..

but i'm trying to 'force' myself to sit still long enough to see some of the 'classics' as in 'the good movies everyone should see'.

(ps) regarding the first post..i've seen both matrixes, but not spiderman..but i'm not embarrased about spiderman. i generally don't like a movie just becuase it's a hollywood blockbuster. bleh.

Gman 07-23-2003 08:51 AM

I haven't seen any of the Indiana Jones, Fight Club, or any of the Godfathers. I normally don't watch that many movies, so chances are if you mention a movie, I haven't seen it.

Charlatan 07-23-2003 09:08 AM

The Godfather trilogy... I can't say why I haven't seen it... I even had them given to me recently on DVD...

Dziga Vertov's Man With a Movie Camera (1929)... not so much that I really want to see this but I have fallen asleep through this film everytime I've watched... twice while I was a TA and had to do a lesson on the film.

cookiezzz 07-23-2003 09:12 AM

The Terminator movies. I always get ripped on for that. Also the Godfather series.

amge 07-23-2003 09:13 AM

That's it. Godfather, and Scarface.
I haven't seen those two.

Kadath 07-23-2003 10:19 AM

Godfather. Look at all of us. I wonder what it is about those (2, I don't feel bad not having seen 3)movies...length?
Oh, and leon, 12 Angry Men is great. Get motivated.

In my case I guess it's age. I'm only 18. Very few of my friends have seen it. Sad, really, I hear they are some of the best films the last century had to offer.. gotta pick em up from the rental store some time soon.

Spinach_Indeed 07-23-2003 11:50 AM

I'd have to say The Godfather Trilogy as well. I just haven't had the effort to sit down for x amount of hours.

eaglek96 07-23-2003 12:07 PM

Here's another vote for the Godfather.

MPower 07-23-2003 02:01 PM

Gone w/the Wind, Casablanca and From Here to Eternity.

Charlatan 07-23-2003 02:11 PM

I should add Gone with the Wind but frankly I don't give a damn... ;)

amge 07-23-2003 02:17 PM

Some more to the list.

First generation Star Trek movies (Captian Kirk, and Spock)

Trilidon 07-23-2003 02:41 PM

The godfather trilogy and gone with the wind, ya.

frankgrimes 07-23-2003 09:18 PM

has anyone seen the godfather? cuz i haven't either... also fight club terminators, scarface, a few good men, braveheart, any of the die hards, any of the lethal weapons. i guess i miss quite a bit on tv and in conversations because people are constantly referencing these movies. i just don't see a lot of movies where people are shot, blown up or otherwise killed and/or maimed.

hambone 07-23-2003 09:32 PM

This Godfather-less thread is amazing. I personally love the trilogy, but I also love stuff to do with gangsters. It's all so interesting.

This is hard to say since I try to see any movie I can that seems good....

I guess maybe Taxi Driver. I have only seen the very end of it cause my roommate was watching it when I came home one day.

amge 07-23-2003 10:36 PM

On the way home from work I remember these,

Harry Potter movies, The Lord of the Ring.

Wombat 07-24-2003 03:03 AM

The Star Wars series.

pmb145 07-24-2003 03:54 AM

Godfather and Scarface. I actually own Scarface. I bought it incase I ever ended up on MTV cribs. I really need to watch it.

livewirerc 07-24-2003 08:00 AM

Sweet Jesus, I own everything mentioned in this thread so far. Well, aside from Matrix: Reloaded, but I've got a copy on my fileshare at work, lol. Does that make me a movie geek?

I think the main movie that I'm pissed at myself for not seeing so far is Bottle Rocket. It's Wes Anderson's first movie, and I love (and own) his other two (Rushmore and Royal Tenenbaums). In fact I think Royal Tenenbaums is my second favorite comedy behind Kubrick's Dr. Strangelove. It's also Luke and Owen Wilson's first fim roles, and I really like both of them in almost everything they've done, Shanghai Noon aside. That's just because I HATE Jackie Chan's US flicks, even though Chris Tucker makes the Rush Hour movies almost watchable.

Sorry, going off on a geek tangent. So yeah, Bottle Rocket.

wacko 07-24-2003 09:34 AM

Gone with the Wind
Sound of Music
Christmas Carol
Scarface

And the odd thing is I use to work in a video store, so i have no excuse

Eiresol 07-24-2003 04:45 PM

Citizen Kane. (I watched some of it, but it was soo boring.)

I hadnt seen Fellowship of The Ring until it was nearly time for The Two Towers to come out.

rockzilla 07-24-2003 07:03 PM

Not a movie fan at all, I can count the movies I've seen in the past 3 years on one hand. I'd say The Godfather series, but...

1) Ashamed is far too strong a word

2) I've read all of Mario Puzo's books.

Kyp 07-24-2003 10:45 PM

Citizen Kane I haven't seen, and I'm sure there's a few others but I can't think of the names.

I really wish I could say I haven't seen the Godfather movies, because they were the biggest waste of 6 hours of my life I've ever had, and I only watched the first 2. I also stopped watching Scarface about an hour and a half into it. I wish I could say I hadn't watched that much. Sadly, I have wasted that much of my life on peice of shit movies just because I kept on hearing about how good they are, just to find out that, in my opinion, they're not.

Spartak 07-24-2003 10:59 PM

24 Hour party people.

I keep on hearing it is real good, I also had an opportunity to see it at a film festival couple of years ago.

I have a feeling the same will be true this year, I had the chance to see "City of God" at another film fest, but decided not to.

archer2371 07-25-2003 12:41 AM

Dogma, yes, I know, I'm a sad deprived person if I haven't seen Dogma.

Irish2 07-25-2003 02:09 AM

I've never seen any of the Rambo movies, but not too ebarassed about that.

Never watched 2001 - A Space Oddessy all the way through, don't know why.

Mr.Deflok 07-25-2003 03:37 AM

Lord Humungus 07-25-2003 11:28 AM

i just have to say the theme of this post is rad! Im awe at some of the films people haven't seen but hell, I haven't seen "Miracle of 24th Street" or lots of other oldies but it don't bother me.

SAM821 07-25-2003 12:37 PM

WOW!!!!
so many people havent seen godfather trilogy or scarface...well i guess i'll jump on the bandwagon too....cause i have not seen them either

I also havent seen goodfellas which i hear is classic

Mr.Deflok 07-25-2003 02:26 PM

I do seriously hope no-one says "I've never seen Star Wars."

Infinite Hybrid 07-25-2003 10:12 PM

Ok...

The Matrix Reloaded
X2: Xmen United
Godfather
Scarface
Memento

I'm not a big movie person and I just haven't gotten a chance b/c of work.

EDIT: oh and one more; Pulp Fiction.

Lebell 07-25-2003 11:40 PM

hmmm, embarrassed?

Citizen Kane.

wiseguy1100 07-26-2003 10:55 AM

Never seen Gone with the Wind or Schindler's list. Also have not seen X-Men 2 which I hope to catch soon!

Stiltzkin 07-26-2003 11:53 AM

Haven't seen any of those Hannibal movies... Red Dragon, whatever. Another vote for Scarface and Godfather. Dances with Wolves, Braveheart (only seen the beginning 100+ times), any of the Evil Dead movies (seen small parts of the movies here and there), Mallrats or "Clerks" or whatever that shit is called (I intentionally avoid this movie because the people who highly recommend this movie to me all the time also happen to ooze hypocrisy from every orifice of their body), and every other crappy movie that people think I should've seen but haven't.

The only movies you should be ashamed of for not having seen (that I know of) are:
Starship Troopers
Donnie Darko
Fifth Element
Fight Club
12 Monkeys
Life as A House
Star Wars series (granted they're not that great, but you just have to watch them)
Matrix, Matrix: Reloaded

I can already see the sorts of know-it-all, smart-alec comments that will be made based on the movies I listed here, and I don't really care, either. Have fun!

dunkelhelmut 07-26-2003 03:34 PM

I hate to say it, but I've never seen the first chapter of Lord of the Rings

Reese 07-27-2003 12:30 AM

being the big movie freak that I am, people have told me it's unbelievable and some call me a fricking liar when I say that I've not seen the following movies :)

Godfather
Scarface
Untouchables
ET(no need to watch it, saw the entire movie in 15 seconds clips over the last 20 years)
Schindler's List
Chasing amy
Jaws
Donnie Darko
Deliverance
Gladiator

Until Recently I would have listed A clockwork Orange, Apocalypse Now, Taxi Driver, The original Planet of the Apes, and the french connection.

It's not so much that I dont think I'll like these movies, but after I hear SSOOOO much about them, they just didn't Click in my head that I MUST see these films.

tronims 07-27-2003 10:49 AM

The Godfather trilogy, the Idiana Jones trilogy and the Terminatory trilogy, those three part series scare me, lol

bryce1131 07-27-2003 10:56 AM

fuzzix 07-30-2003 06:02 AM

Terminator 1, Alien, Die Hard, and just about a million others - I missed out on a lot of the 80's and pre-80's stuff, but now I keep fairly up-to-date.

God of Thunder 07-30-2003 06:18 AM

I havene't seen Titanic or either of the Lord of the Rings and I don't plan on it.

I want to be the only person on the face of the earth to have not seen Titanic. It's a boat, it hits an iceberg, it sinks, people die. GET OVER IT!!!!!

The Lord of the Rings I will probably see, but just haven't had the gumption yet.

Other I haven't seen are embarrased about (to stay with the theme) are:

The Godfather trilogy
Platoon
Full Metal Jacket
Citizen Kane

shay 07-30-2003 06:33 AM

i've never seen any of the godfather movies. i've never seen any of the starwars movies. i've never seen tons of the stuff someone at this point in time, at my age, should have seen - swiners, resevoir dogs, and tons of other stuff that always seems to come up in conversation.

holtmate 07-31-2003 07:10 PM

I still haven't seen the Godfather movies, or Fight Club. Those are the ones I am ashamed of not seeing.

punkgrl1984 07-31-2003 09:14 PM

I haven't seen either matrix movie
Casablanca

TheClarkster 07-31-2003 10:19 PM

How bout another vote for Godfather trilogy and Scarface.

CaptainFluffer 07-31-2003 11:54 PM

Lord of the rings...any of them. And I work at Blockbuster video.

All I hear all day is "YOU HAVENT SEEN LORD OF THE RINGS???!?!??!?!?!?!? WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU?!?!?!?"

I have those same aspirations...I have no plans whatsoever to see it.

Looften 08-04-2003 02:21 AM

I hadn't watched the Matrix nearly until Reloaded was out, thank god I did. What haven't I see? Too many, I rarely go to the movies. Monty Python probably, my shame in not seeing Python tells a lot about the company I keep. :)

frogger27 08-31-2003 06:13 PM

GOne With the Wind. Everyone I know has seen it....not me

mercury-hg 08-31-2003 09:01 PM

All Star Wars movies... though I'm actually proud to have avoided seeing them :)

Mehoni 08-31-2003 10:39 PM

I choose not to see certain movies. In the age of filesharing, I see stuff that seem to look good to me. I use IMDB heavily.. if I hear about a movie (or like it's trailer) and it has more than 7.0 on IMDB, then I'll watch it. Most of the time.

Movies I haven't seen (and sorry, I'm not ashamed over it)...

Movie - Reason
*Magnolia - Scientology-actors
*Eyes Wide Shut - Scientology-actors
*Battlefiled Earth - Scientology-actors
*Titanic - Hype by 14-year old girls
*Armageddon - Totally hated the Aerosmith-song to it.
*Any Harry Potter-movie - Haven't read the books.
*Spider-man - Looked awful in the trailers. Plus, they changed the story. WTF
*Sixth Sense - I hate that kid in the trailes.
* Cast Away - Didn't look all that good.
*Signs - Geez. No.
*Saving Private Ryan - Not my kind of film.
*Pearl Harbor - I would laugh myself silly.
*The new Planet of the Apes - Didn't get around to it.

There's lots more, but so far I don't think I've missed out on anything. :)

JcL 08-31-2003 10:45 PM

Shindlers List, Godfather, Citizen Cane

Hmm... Deliverence too.:)

Plan9Senior 08-31-2003 10:47 PM

Schindlers List. I have no interest in watching a movie that I know will just make me feel very shitty after seeing it.

im2smrt4u 08-31-2003 11:24 PM

Scarface, Citizen Kane, Schindler's List, and X-Men 1 and 2.

I haven't seen Schindlers List. I want to, and I will, but not for a while.
I haven't seen Shawshank Redemption, either. I heard it's very good.
I keep missing it for some reason, though. (Real ashamed on this one)
I've caught parts of Gone With the Wind and Citizen Kane, but I wasn't impressed enough to view them all the way through.

For those of you that haven't seen the original Star Wars movie and are thinking about viewing it in the future, remember this:
SOLO FIRES FIRST IN THE ORIGINAL!!

Oh yeah, I haven't seen Braveheart yet, as well.

bluearmy 09-01-2003 01:42 PM

I think its great when you actually do catch up with a movie that you have previously missed, I recently saw for the first time Get Shorty and the Exorcist and really enjoyed both.

Still not seen Pulp Fiction or a Clock Work Orange.

Lasereth 09-01-2003 06:06 PM

I've never seen any of the Godfather movies. I want to see them badly, though.
