What TV shows do you watch?
 

I'm sure this thread has existed before, but there doesn't seem to be a recent one.

I have become totally addicted to watching tv shows on Netflix, either streaming (when available) or disc by mail. I watch far more tv shows than movies these days. I realize when watching them that most television dramas are really just glorified soap operas - with better themes, less shlock and the triumvirate of adult programming: sex, drugs and (luckily) many profligate and creative uses for profanity.

I occasionally watch Big Bang Theory. Before that, I used to watch the newer Battlestar Galactica, though I haven't yet seen the final season.

I'm now looking forward to watching Game of Thrones, premiering on HBO on April 17th!

Oh boy! Employee benefit include free cable which has turned me into a total addict. DVR, on-demand, premium channels ... but I'm still more of a film addict than a series person. Here's my list of TV shows I watch regularly. First, the ones I won't miss:

I used to watch Weeds, but it became really annoying in season 6, so I stopped. Lost lost me, too. And I hated the last episode. There are some I catch on Hulu when I have nothing else to do, just for background noise... Haven, Covert Affairs, Glee, Royal Pains, Outsourced, Kitchen Nightmares... but nothing there that I HAVE to watch.

S went through a The Whitest Kids You Know phase.

I forgot Entourage. S watched seasons 2 - 5 in two days.
I didn't watch it as fast, but I started it first. I heart Ari.
And Warehouse 13. And Human Target. But Portlandia is not funny.
I used to watch Fringe, but got lost and disinterested when they started the dual universe episodes. I don't like the bangs and the plot line got weary.

Oh and Dead Like Me is a great series to pick up and watch. It was only one season. And the one with the guy from Ed and Kristen Chenowith... that was fun to pick up.

We stream most of the TV we watch over Hulu and we have an antenna, but I'm just not a big TV watcher anymore. Usually, these shows get watched in huge blocks as marathons, except for Warehouse 13 and Eureka; those we usually watch right away. I was watching Human Target, but one poorly written episode really irritated me, and I've yet to catch up.

They have all the other DVDs, so I expect to get those too at some point. Kenneth Branagh is fun to watch.

I officially don't watch TV anymore. Haha, well live TV anyways. Now that I have netflix, bye bye cable. That's all I watch now. So far I'm not missing it.

I don't have cable, either. My tv series watching habit has been developed exclusively through netflix.

I've just watched the first episode of Season 6 of Weeds. And I have to agree that this show seems to have lost its way along with Big Love.

I felt the same way at points with both Six Feet Under and The Sopranos.

It just lost its spunk, mm.
When a dryer becomes an integral part of your show (unless it's possessed and a serial killer), it's time to let it go...

welllllllllllllllll this is tough. most shows I watched were with the wife due to a very hectic schedule.

over six years from start to finish:



Battlestar Galitca - I -loved- this show
The Shield - tied with BSG. I absolutely love Vic...
The Sopranos - was a great show but the ending was the single worse ending I ever saw
Six Feet Under - even though the last two seasons screamed /wrist
The Wire - by far the best cop drama ever. i don''t compare this with The Shield.
Buffy - after 8 or so episodes of season one I really liked it. very fun show.
Angel - very good. bit more emo/serious than buffy but fun
Queer As Folk - an absolutely fabulous (ha ha I made a funny) show.. very, very well done drama about being gay
The L Word - not nearly as good as QAF but four words : Extremely Hawt Lipstick Lesbians -- my wife got annoyed cuz omfg Marinna... so yummy
Babylon 5 - it took my wife years to get me through season one because the caracters looked so goddamned retarded.. I got hooked in affer 3/4 of S1.
South Park - although the last few seasons left a lot to be desired there were a few great episodes still
The Tudors - great show despite the sommetimes grueling pace
Rome - needed more than two seasons!
Carnvale - same as Rome

Here's my DVR's entire list of programs set to record.

From those MM mentioned I've seen LOST and Six Feet Under from start to beginning. I don't currently have a show to follow. Oh, I did watch ALIAS, too.

On a whim I started re-watching Twin Peaks yesterday. I forgot how great it was.

filtherton, I remember those days. but for me it was Pokemon, Captain Planet and the Ninja Turtles. and when boohead was little, she was into those frightening Teletubbies.

After you've finished Twin Peaks and remember what a betrayal the second season was, please look into AMC's The Killing.

It's a 13 episode mini-series centered around a single murder, not unlike Laura Palmer's. This week was the 3rd episode. It's based on an original Danish series and is great, adult TV; much closer to Twin Peaks than CSI. The Killing - About – AMC

Ha, my sister said the same thing about The Killing when I told her I was watching Twin Peaks again. I will definitely check it out.

The second disc of Mad Men Season 4 arrived today and I'm about to cocoon myself comfortably in bed and start watching it. While Weeds has indeed turned out to be a bit of a disappointment (thank god for Andy, that's all I've got to say), I'm still hanging in there with this one. I like the quiet nature and pacing of this show. The actors fill their roles pretty seamlessly. It's like the dark side of Funny Face on morphine.

I don't have a whole lot of time for TV, but I will watch any of the Stargate shows whenever I find them.

When I get to watch TV, I try to catch up on the HBO shows I have fallen behind on.

True Blood is my favorite.
Boardwalk Empire was good.
I will watch Game of Thrones as well.
Mildred Pierce is a mini-series that I need to finish watching this weekend.

I love HBO on Demand. I don't really watch much else.

For non-HBO drama, it's just Breaking Bad. Weeds started sucking WAY before season six (DEA agent? Uhhh, sure), I lost interest in Dexter after season 1 (though I'm told it gets better), Lie to Me had tons of potential but just got SUPER repetitive (NOT EVERYTHING HAS TO BE PERSONALLY INVOLVING A TEAM MEMBER GAH *NERD RAGE* STOP FORCE-FEEDING HALFASSED CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT).

But yeah, mostly My Little Ponies. It's seriously a great show, I'm not being sarcastic.

Lost is the only show I've ever been completely faithful to and watched every week without fail.

Hubby and I watch House, but we tend to watch 2-3 episodes at a time and then skip it for a month. We watch House online.

I'll occasionally watch Criminal Minds or American Pickers (if I haven't already seen the episode) if I'm actually watching TV. I also like History Channel stuff (none of this Swamp People/Ice Truckers/Ax Men bullshit) when it's actually about history. My son and I will watch PBS Nature shows together on Sunday nights, if we aren't doing something else.

That is a hard list to make. I watch a LOT of TV. Not that I dont do anything else, but I routinely get by on 4-5 hours of sleep. I'm an insomiac with a HD DVR, not a good combination.

Enterprise on the syfy channel.

There's a lot more but I need sleep.

We have cable again, so we've been able to watch a lot of shows where the latest season isn't streamable, as is the case with Discovery's Mythbusters and Deadliest Catch. Cartoon Network's streaming also left something to be desired, so we got all caught up on our Metalocalypse.

All the shows I watched were cancelled like Heroes and Flash Forward.
Not true. There's also True Blood and Modern Family. They are still going strong.
But generally I enjoy watching films and reading books more than watching television.
