Nikita
Did anyone ever follow the 1998 show La Femme Nikita? The CW channel has just aired a spin-off. Less "Chuck" like version, less comedy. New Direction. Pilot is captivating and might get somewhere. Now, one reason we should watch this is not only because Maggie Q is in it but also because when given a chance the CW really does develop it's programs, unless it beats them down to death like Smallville (which I still watch avidly, BTW).
What do y'all think about this new spin-off cum remake and the CW in General? I wouldn't leave without giving y'all something to fap over now would I? |
I'd watch it if I had access.

I bet they will have full episodes there in a few days. If not there is always that Swedish website to download stuff from... I like the new show. The only issue that I have is they have already placed it in the US. In La Femme Nikita, you didn't know where Section One was located until the end. I think this new version has gone for a sexier style, but Peta Wilson was very attractive as Nikita in the La Femme Nikita series. |
I enjoyed the pilot, but I guess I was confused.
I thought the young woman just "recruited" into the agency was Nikita as a young girl, pre-plastic surgery, in flashbacks. Then it showed them talking together, and I was all, "Wtf?" I guess I shouldn't game and watch tv at the same time. |
I taped it and plan to watch it tonight.
Gotta say that it'll be hard to be better than the 1998 La Femme Nikita with Peta Wilson!! She was my spouse's Dream Girl for quite awhile and I liked her too! That version was very edgey and euro-trashy...which I find sexy, so I have high expectations for this new Nikita. |
I preferred Bridgette Fonda in the Hollywood remake Point of No Return. . . . . .
I watched the pilot last night - good twist there at the end. Maggie Q is easy to look at, but somebody please give that girl a sammmich! It's in what I think is gonna be a tough time slot - Thursdays at 9 ET - up against CSI, Gray's Anatomy, and The Office |
Luc Besson's original was the best by a mile.
Watched the pilot. Maggie Q is a believable assassin, but I don't think it's for me. |
The first series, La Femme Nikita, was great and I have a hard time believing this one will live up to it. LFN was way ahead of its time, constantly exploring ideas and themes about terrorism, torture, privacy, security, the intelligence community, and the nature of right and wrong years before 9/11. I really hate 24 because it's depiction of these issues is cartoonish compared to the questions posed in LFN.
That said, LFN suffered from a number of problems like a tiny budget, embarrassing special effects, and some weak final seasons, so it isn't like it's sacrosanct. I think one reason I'm extremely skeptical is that the CW makes terrible, terrible TV, and has been advertising this as the hot chick kicks butt show. (I mean Peta Wilson was not only hot, but I always thought she might actually be able to beat me up in real life.) I doubt there will be a lot of existential crises in a CW show... |
Yep, horrible time slot. Gonna be tough for this series....
I'm still not totally on board - a Euro-chick Nikita is quite a slant IMHO, but I'll watch 2 or perhaps 3 more episodes. I miss the old Michael from La Femme...he and Peta had real chemistry. Hawt bigtime! The writing is pretty sketchy too. But, ok... I'll try to keep an open mind at this point. |
