TV Shows that rotted your brain

Give us the TV shows you watched when you were a kid. I really did a TFP search this time, and I didn't find this thread anywhere.

Xerxys 05-29-2010 02:03 PM

My god, you are old!

Fremen 05-29-2010 04:39 PM

I'll list just ten of them as there're way too many.

Batman
Flipper
The Brady Bunch
The Lone Ranger
The Rifleman
Rawhide
High Chaparral
Green Acres
The Jeffersons
The Bugaloos

hunnychile 05-29-2010 04:47 PM

"Green Acres" really was a time waster!!! Yikes it was BAD.

But even worse was "Gilligans Island!"

(I was very young when I watched these, but forgive me, cuz I was a latchkey kid.)

Does anybody old like me remember a LOST-style show in the very late 60's that featured a bunch of young people crashed on a deserted island? I remember it came on right after a musical-type show with David Steinberg, but I can't find the names of either show.

We only had a satellite dish and an antenna when I was very young, so until I was 6 or so, my television watching was pretty limited. However, there was one show we watched no matter what...

I don't remember this show as I was born in '71, but it sounds like a cool premise.

Is this it, Warrrr?
I found this on Google... Television Obscurities: The New People

In 1969 ABC tried something new, two forty-five minute shows airing back-to-back from 7:30-9PM. The New People was one of those shows. Cancelled after only seventeen episodes, the series has seen something of a resurgence in popularity recently due to ABC’s current hit series Lost, which has a similar premise. Broadcast from September 1969 to January 1970 the series followed a group of college students as they fought to survive after being stranded on an island.

I was an odd kid.

That's it!!! That's it!!!! Wow, thanks. I looked at that site and immediately recognized the mannequins. The college students who crashed on the island discovered towns and roads that were completely deserted except for mannequins everywhere instead of people. It was a big mystery until they finally figured out it was an abandoned military testing facility.

Wow, I remember it being incredibly creepy and cool.

Eilonwy 05-31-2010 02:50 PM

The Smurfs

 If there's one thing that Witchy-poo taught me, it was to be quick on your feet!

I just remembered one that maybe only you, Lucifer, & maybe Charlatan would be able to recall:

TFP, I give you none other than Rocket Robin Hood.

Also that there ain't no rhyme for oranges. Who said?!

Leto 06-01-2010 08:27 AM

LMFAO. I'm getting flashbacks. Somehow it I think that Rita (the Power Ranger Rita that is) was channelling Witchy-Poo.

Now:

Every Saturday Night, during HNIC (Hockey Night in Canada) we would get a segment called Peter Puck. Here's the 1974 inaugural edition:

Recently it has been updated. Here is the 2009 edition:

Charlatan 06-01-2010 11:27 PM

I love Rocket Robin Hood.

It was produced by the same company that did Spider-Man

I also liked watching this:

The power of Mighty ISIS

Shazam!

Wonder Bug!

Electra Woman and Dyna Girl!

Dr. Shrinker!

Lucifer 06-02-2010 01:07 AM

I remember Wonderbug, the guy on that show was like the anti-McGyver!

"i can get us out of this mess - all I need is a dozen donuts, a pound of spam and the Albanian Roller Derby team!"

here's Patrick Duffy before he became Bobby Ewing (who?):

How could we've forgotten this classic sci-fi show:

plus this oldie I remember from saturday mornings:

Charlatan 06-02-2010 01:53 AM

Buck Rogers...

mmmm Erin Grey

warrrreagl 06-02-2010 02:22 AM

Best line ever - "Ah, New York in springtime, when the dingbats are in full bloom:

My parent's have never let my sister and I forget that they often missed this show (below), cause we were watching that show (above):

Special Mention for Canadians:

Leto 06-02-2010 07:24 AM

The Starlost! when I saw Charlatan's Ark II submission I immediately thought of Starlost. so campy, who were the characters? Garth? Devon? the girl? Can't remember. But I thought that the ship's name was the Ark.

Harlan Ellison had some input to the show

Lucifer 06-02-2010 02:07 PM

The girl was Rachel played by Gay Rowan (I had such a crush on her!) and Devon was played by Keir Dullea (fresh from playing the lead in 2001), and Garth was played by Robin Ward, who went on to host the game show "Guess What?"

here's some classic cartoons I remember:

Does anyone remember a British sci-fi show about a group of people who could teleport with some device in their belt buckles? I can remember this one scene where one of them is sitting on a bridge and some police yell at him, so he jumps off, and half-way to the water he teleports.

I can vaguely remember another British show about a family that lives in a restored workhouse and the ghost of one of the workhouse boys is friends with the children.

warrrreagl 06-03-2010 02:28 AM

Wild, Wild West

Which was always followed by The Avengers.
