'Silly Celebrities'. it's simple. it's a word coagmented. it's an endeavor.


A topic I have wanted to create for the longest time, yet had no inkling of how to will it into fruition. I don't know how long this can last, but one has to try, at least.

If you wish to help this topic spawn along, here's the basic formula:

1. Find a celebrity. One with personality, all the better. (Comedians are more goofball than, say, sports owners. Build off that.)
2. Make sure they have been photographed. (deal-breaker)
3. Post the picture here. (overall aim)

Those are the basics above, here are the staples:

4. Try your darndest to find the most superb, hilarious, candid, awkward and/or rollicking picture available.
-- best tip: If it doesn't make you smile, it's just not worthwhile.
5. Find a trusted resource. And No Hotlinking. Host it on your Photobucket, Flickr, Tumblr, whatever. Please. Longevity is key.
-- try any and/or all of the following to aid your search: wireimage, getty collection, life, SI, flickr, associated press, offbeat forums, pop blogs, et al.
6. If it is within your means, (an expendable time of 3 minutes, maximum) please properly annotate the photographic content.
-- infotrivialities: provide a name(s), situation, date, original author (the photographer), and to whom rights belong (copyright).
7. Above all else, have some fun. It's a scavenger hunt; it's a cornucopia of outré antics; It's an exhibition of curious luminaries (however loosely). Make it brighter.

That's great. I'd have produced a great follow-up to your post by miraculously recovering the name of a French entertainer/comedian, (who may also be a mute?) but I still can't remember him, nor find the photographs in question. I disappoint myself.

John Michael Osbourne was born on 3rd December 1948 in the UK, in Birmingham.

Prior to his musical career, Ozzy tried to work as an assistant locksmith, miner, at the slaughterhouse, an auto mechanic, painter, and even a gravedigger.

Not being able to find himself in the field of honest labor, the young John Osborne tried to earn one through theft. Caught thereafter, he was unable to pay the fine and served (according to different sources: a half or three) months in the Birmingham jail. It was in prison that Osbourne made his famous tattoo "OZZY" on the finger joints of his left hand.

Thanks for the kind words of appreciation, gg. I really need them at this point (most of the dozen or so threads I've started are just me, providing what I come across, and then they lay dormant until I return again). It's nice to have a reason and praise, so that I don't feel as though I'm providing content that nobody finds interesting.

I don't have any pictures to add right now, but thank you for continuing to post in this thread. It's very entertaining.

And, I, in turn, thank you for voicing your delight and/or contentment with the topic. Even the smallest kudos every now and then help me to continue wanting to contribute even better content, continously.

So, now, a little treat. This is, without a doubt, my favorite celebrity portrayal of all-time (paparazzi or otherwise, which I'm sure this one falls into the category of the former). The kinda negative side is that the reason this photograph came about was because of the invasive nature of the photographer(s), and I don't really condone such practices.
Otherwise, it's still hilarious.

While at MO/DE this summer, I was handed the task of creating styleframes for a project from Nike. They were looking to feature the running back LaDainian Tomlinson of the San Diego Chargers in an ‘electric / cosmic / gridiron’ setting, while he performed his new dance, the Electric Glide. These frames were submitted, and Nike returned with one thing to say. “Awesome!”

Castro at the Lincoln Memorial

Between April 15 and April 26 1959–a few months after he took power in Cuba–Fidel Castro went to the United States, invited by the American Society of Newspaper Editors. In one of those forgotten episodes of the Cold War, Castro went to the US for loans. Castro hired one of the best public relations firms to present his new government. Castro answered impertinent questions jokingly and ate hot dogs and hamburgers. His rumpled fatigues and scruffy beard cut a popular figure easily promoted as an authentic hero.

However President Eisenhower did not believed Castro’s talk of neutralism in the Cold War. Instead of meeting Castro, Eisenhower left Washington to play golf. Vice President Nixon met Castro in a 3-hour long meeting. Nixon asked about elections, and Castro told him that the Cuban people did not want elections. Nixon complained that Castro was “either incredibly naive about communism or under communist discipline.” His guess, he said, was the former.

Fidel Castro laid a wreath at the Lincoln Memorial–where the moment was immortalized by his photographer Alfredo Korda–and he met the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, and told them that he would not expropriate the property of Americans and that he was against dictatorships and for a free press. He went back to Cuba denying that he was a communist because communism was the dictatorship of a single class and meant hatred and class struggle. After his visit to the United States, he would go on to join forces with the Soviet leader, Nikita Khrushchev, signing into law many Communist-inspired laws starting the next month.

Fidel Castro remained an admirer of Abraham Lincoln for the next half a century. He had a bust of Lincoln in his office, and wrote that Lincoln was devoted “to the just idea that all citizens are born free and equal”, and once even saying, “Long Live Lincoln!”

Three Stooges, he might find a more accepted means of having his bridgework rearranged.
The "Stooges" just completed their 204th movie, a full-length feature with the title of
"The Three Stooges Go Round The World in a Daze".
