I absolutely hate Jay Leno. He is completely and utterly unfunny. I think it's fucked up that NBC is doing that to Conan. He moved his entire show and family to LA and 5 months later they screw him like that. I read somewhere that Conan might be looking at other networks as a result of this.

I am not clear on how they "screwed" Conan... he still hosts the Tonight Show. The only difference is that the show starts a half hour later. I am sure they will still pay him the same. And I am pretty sure that it won't even effect his day-to-day work flow.
From what I have read, Conan is in talks with Fox but it would all depend on whether or not Conan can get out of his contract with NBC. |
Well, the 11:35 spot is the coveted spot for any late night host. They gave him that spot when Jay Leno "retired" and now that Leno's other show isn't getting the ratings they want they are going to boot Conan from the spot after 5 months, I don't know but I find that ridiculous.

Yeah, why even attempt a late night show that starts a half hour after your competitors?
Conan's stance (and I agree with him) was that The Tonight Show has, does, and always will start immediately after the local news. And Leno didn't screw NBC. Every night his show aired, NBC saved $2,600,000. Sure - it may put them in last place for ratings for a decade, but this is America, where no corporation thinks more than one fiscal quarter into the future. Everyone associated with this fiasco will be retired multimillionaires who won't give a rat's ass about NBC's future. Jay should've taken a lesson from Kurt Warner - "You don't want to leave too early; but you never want to stay too long." Go enjoy your cars, Jay. I think the only one who acted with any class was Conan - he got his 200 employees a $12M severance. That averages to $60 grand per person - that should last them till he starts on Fox in September. Plus, despite his jabs at NBC his last week, he ended his last show with a pretty classy thank you to NBC for all the wonderful years he spent there. Now - on to more important business - why in the hell did TNT drop Raising the Bar; and ABC start The Deep End? Wow - lose one great legal show and gain a terrible one that will be lucky to last past valentines Day. |
Conan did leave with much class (geez I really like him) and it's wonderful that he was able to help his team get the severance packages they deserved. That's good karma, big time!
If Jay Leno stays on in this new/old slot for more than...umm, 2 years (?) frankly I'll be surprised. Yes, I liked "Raising the Bar" a lot!!!! Now I'm bummed that it's gone! "Deep End" is pretty weak. So--What to Watch NOW??? (No wonder I've upped my Netflix quota monthly.) |
