I downloaded all the episodes to date and watched them in the last week and a half. Awesome show.

I'm really no clearer to figuring out how they kill Maryanne. I'm guessing Spoiler: bill is willing to sacrifice sam, but still unclear how it is going to happen.

Bummer there is a two week wait for the last episode :(

You know, at least when Angel got to be somewhat tiresome as a no-fun having do-gooder on Buffy and Angel, all the other characters would make fun of him for it. Nobody in True Blood seems to get how fucking dull Bill is. I mean Jason spent the season as a brainwashed Christian warrior and has morphed into a zombie killer armed to the teeth. Maryanne is a batshit crazy goddess of chaos. Eric flies now for some reason. Even Godric's clothes are so badass they couldn't be damaged by an explosion. Evan Rachel Wood's queen is like something from John Waters' wet dreams. Pretty much all the other townsfolk are having nonstop orgies. They are all a thousand times more interesting than Bill!

...actually, come to think of it, almost all the original main characters are just boring as fuck. Who cares about Sam at all? Or Tara and her boyfriend-with-the-worst-name-ever? Sookie and Bill have gotten so massively dull that on the street now I'm overhearing people joking about their "Sooooookie!" "Bill!" "Soooooookie!" dialogue.

I predict that by season 4 every episode will be people killing each other with mystical chainsaws and drinking blood and having crazy bisexual orgies with utterly no plot.

Willravel 08-31-2009 08:57 PM

I like Jessica, her storyline with Hoyt has really been refreshing. I'd watch a show with just them, to be honest.

And the Jason seduction storyline was absolutely awesome. It was a fun way to deal with the fundies.

If Eggs dies, the entire season will be totally worth it.

OMG Eric can fly! He's officially the biggest badass ever. It was great having Jason Stackhouse back, he's a fun character.

I hope they kill Eggs off also.

I just caught up this early morning. I thought each season would have 13 episodes, and I thought ep. 12 premiered last week, but what the hey.. that was a good enough resolution to this season.

Oh, and to paraphrase:

ShaniFaye 09-14-2009 02:17 AM

ugh, Im glad Eggs is gone...though he didnt die like in the book, this will make for an interesting storyline next season if they continue it, it think somehow it will have a profound affect on Jason.

I have a tiny little beef with how they ended the Maryann line, They have made a big point out of portraying the fact that Sam has to have the animal to imprint on before he can change into it (in the books he could just see a picture, but they didnt mention that in the show), so how the heck did he change into the bull?

My heart was just breaking for Hoyt and I have no clue what the hell Jessica was up to.

Eggs is dead wooohooooo

Willravel 09-14-2009 01:24 PM

There was something poetic about MaryAnn's death. It kinda worked. I was worried it would be anticlimactic, but it was certainly visually arresting to see the white bull pierce her heart, only to have it revert to Sam holding her heart.

Regarding your beef (HA!), maybe Bill and Sam had a bull around as part of the plan.

The best part of the entire series I've seen so far was Sam with his adopted parents. It was so quiet, painful and honest.

guy44 09-14-2009 08:54 PM

Blech, what a mess of a season finale. Yes, the shots of Maryann with the bull were beautifully shot. But a whole season of slooooooooooowly getting around to Maryann's "wedding," filled with endless pointless orgies and black eyes, ends justlikethis with the lamest and most predictable switcheroo of all time.

Plus, they totally dropped the whole "Sookie has electric light powers" thing. What was that about?

Then, they perfunctorily went about setting up season 3 as if they couldn't leave behind season 2 fast enough. And I really look forward to more dumbass soul-searching from Jason after killing Eggs, a la the second half of season one.

On the other hand, I'm pretty sure I just want to watch Jessica and Eric and the Queen fuck with everybody else all the time. They're waaaay more fun than the rest of this show.

I'd kill for an episode with 20 lines of dialogue that weren't directly tied to advancing the plot or expository.

...I realize I complain a lot about this show but it is so much more willing to do crazy shit than any other show on tv that I just want it to do it well.

Willravel 09-14-2009 08:56 PM

I'm just hoping Sam starts having awkward and confusing dreams about Bill.

ShaniFaye 09-15-2009 09:02 AM

Here is a good post finale, pre-season 3 interview with Alan I just love the last question and answer

Exclusive: 'True Blood' finale postmortem with Alan Ball! | Ausiello | EW.com

Quote:

Though last night’s True Blood finale tied up a bunch of loose ends, it also untied a bunch more! For instance (spoiler alert): Who kidnapped Bill? Why was Eric mostly MIA? Will the Queen return? Are Jessica and Hoyt over? What is Sookie? And that’s for starters. Luckily, series creator Alan Ball agreed to a little post-episode Q&A to finish us off.

Some folks were surprised by the structure of the finale and your decision to wrap up the Maryann story in the first 30 minutes.
ALAN BALL: I try to look at the show as basically almost like it’s a novel, and each episode is a chapter. I guess I’m influenced by the fact that when I watch TV shows, I watch the [DVD] boxed sets. Ultimately, it’s just organically the way it worked out. And the season finale last year was very similar.

Why wasn’t there more Eric in the finale?
BALL: There is a reason for not seeing Eric in the last part of the episode, but if I explain it, I’ll be [giving away] too much.

Will he be prominent next season?
BALL: Yes. Although, when I saw your [latest episode of Ausiello TV], for a moment I thought, we’re going to have to kill Eric, because you are the man. I thought wow, I had many seasons of Eric planned but I guess I’ll have to off him. [Laughs]

Speaking of which, are you surprised at how passionate the Sookie/Eric fans are?
BALL: Yes. I try not to get involved in that because it just sort of — it’s too confusing. I don’t want it to influence what the show is. Personally, I’m like, yes, Eric’s hot, but beyond that he’s dangerous, and I don’t know if he’d love anybody besides himself. What’s the appeal there? The bad boy? The danger?

Why wasn’t Sookie susceptible to Maryann’s powers but Jason was? Do they have different parents?
BALL: They have the same parents. We will find out what Sookie is [next season]. There are such things as dominant and recessive genes. Maybe Jason is fundamentally human but he has a trace of some non-human stuff. He’s kind of a ridiculously perfect [human being]. He’s athletic and has that charisma thing, so maybe he had some help in that regard. [Laughs] Ultimately, if you look at percentages, he’s mostly human. Sookie has a stronger genetic predisposition in another direction. People who have read the books know exactly what I’m talking about. People who haven’t, it will be revealed.

What’s up with the Queen’s Yahtzee obsession?
BALL: You’re 400 years old. What are you going to do? [Laughs] It’s something we came up with in the room and we thought it was funny.

Fans are polarized about Evan Rachel Wood as the Queen. A big complaint is that she doesn’t come off scary enough.
BALL: She will. You don’t want to introduce a character you’re going to see later and blow your wad up front. It’s funny because the fans are so rabid. Of course, that’s fantastic. And the fact that they’re so completely wrapped up in the show and they get upset and they think, “I don’t like that! I love that.” It means people are watching and the show is really affecting them. I think of the show as having a long life. You can’t explain everything and blow your wad in the first episode the first time time you introduce a character. All I can say is keep watching. It will make sense.

Will she return next season as a series regular?
BALL: She won’t be a series regular, but she will appear. Every state has its own vampire royalty. We will meet the King of Mississippi and there will be some interesting stuff happening between him and Evan’s Queen. (Find out who’s just been cast as the King!)

As much as I loved Michelle Forbes’ portrayal of Maryann, the story felt like it dragged on a little long. Why did it take her so long to get to the endgame?
BALL: That’s part of what the queen talks about. They’re always improvising. She really can’t conjure up a God. But she’s so fervent in her belief; she keeps trying this sacrifice and that sacrifice. She’s completely delusional. She killed Miss Jeanette and I think she thought that was going to work. She always thinks it’s going to work. It never does because the God who comes never actually comes. But she so fervently believes that he will, and she’s been believing it for thousands of years. That’s how they were able to outsmart her.

Have we seen the last of her?
BALL: Yes, she’s gone. They destroyed her. She will never rise — which I hate because I love [Michelle], and she was so much fun to work with. She’s really delightful and everyone loves her and we hated to kill her but we had to.

How closely will you follow the third book next season?
BALL: We take the gist of the books, [but] we will depart whenever we feel like it makes better television as opposed to reading. We continue to use the books as templates. But now that I’ve read all nine books there are things that are revealed in later books that we are moving up so that they’ll probably happen in the show earlier than they do in the books.

Will you introduce werewolf Alcide?
BALL: Yes.

Have you cast him?
BALL: No. We will also meet Sam’s blood relatives, the super bad vampire Franklin Mott, we’ll meet Debbie Pelt, we will actually meet the people who live in Hotshot a little bit ahead of schedule. We’ve already broken four episodes and I’ve sent writers out to write scripts over the hiatus.

Have we seen the last of the Fellowship of the Sun?
BALL: No. Just because Steve got humiliated, they still exist. And maybe he’s angrier than ever.

The fact that Jason killed Eggs has me thinking you might restart the Jason-Tara love story next season. Will you?
BALL: Certainly, Jason is going to be consumed with guilt. And he’s going to feel like, “I’ve ruined her life and I’ve got to make her feel better.” Whether that’s wise in any way shape or form remains to be seen. I think Tara certainly gave up on her obsession with Jason, but now that she’s dealing with the worst thing that ever happened to her, she might be more vulnerable to his charms.

Is Tara ever going to be in a happy relationship?
BALL: Happy relationships are boring. We all want them in our own life. But I don’t want to watch them on TV.

Any plans to give Lafayette a boyfriend?
BALL: Yes.

Anything imminent?
BALL: Nothing I can talk about. But certainly we will see more and more of Lafayette. He built a lot of walls around himself. But we will see him get vulnerable next year — and not just being afraid of Eric.

Any regrets killing off Godric? As I’m sure you’re aware the character was very well-received.
BALL: There’s no regret in killing him off because I think that [story was] really powerful. That was my favorite thing about the second book. However, we can always go back in history. He and Eric had a relationship for a thousand years. We can always go back and see him again.

Are Hoyt and Jessica doomed?
BALL: They still love each other. But there will be problems — as you probably could tell based on last night’s episode.

You do realize how awesome those two are together, right?
BALL: I totally know that.

How long do we have to wait for season 3?
BALL: It’s probably going to premiere around the same time it did this year. We’re going to try to shoot one episode before the Christmas break. I don’t know if HBO will bring the show back earlier, but it certainly won’t be later.

Is there anything I’m forgetting to ask you?
BALL: I’m surprised you didn’t ask who took Bill.

Who took Bill?
BALL: It was Hoyt’s mother.

Xazy 09-15-2009 11:41 AM

Easy to answer those questions just read the book.

ShaniFaye 09-15-2009 02:58 PM

you have to keep in mind, Alan is changing things up, just because you know what happens in the books, doesnt mean thats what happens in the show. Eggs died in a car wreck in the book, Lafayette was dead in book one, Maryann didnt do all that crap and certainly didnt die.....the books are a template, the show isnt canon

Willravel 09-15-2009 03:40 PM

True Blood Sets Season Three Premiere Date

from TV Squad by Brad Trechak46 people liked this

http://www.blogcdn.com/www.tvsquad.c...ood_poster.jpgEverybody sharpen your fangs. The best vampire series on television today, 'True Blood,' returns to HBO for a new season on June 13th.

When last we left Sookie and Bill, he was ready to propose before suddenly vanishing while Sookie was in the little girl's room. Of course, those that follow 'The Southern Vampire Mysteries' by Charlaine Harris know what's going to happen next. Or do they? Perhaps Alan Ball will decide to take the franchise in a different direction.

Seriously, 'Twilight' fans can keep their sparkly Robert Pattinson and their Team Edward or Team Jacob. 'The Vampire Diaries' is barely palatable. 'True Blood' is the best vampire series on the air since 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' and for those that don't agree I will roshambo you for it.

What aspect of the new season are you most looking forward to? Which characters do you want to see more? Are you on Team Bill or Team Eric?
Unfortunately, I will have to take a hiatus from this thread because I can only watch complete seasons. This means waiting till all of them have aired then downloading them.

I forgot how this show just LOVES cliffhangers. So, werewolfs, I know that we were told that we would have wolifies in this show, but I really figured Eric kidnapped Bill. I'm guessing that since the "King" of Mississippi is going to be in the show, that's where Bill is going to be most of the time. Wonder how the werewolf/vampire connection is in MI.

Was it just me or were they showing a lot of male ass in this ep? I'll put up with it if Jessica naked.

Xerxys 06-13-2010 06:41 PM

I cannot even begin to tell you how addicted I am to this show and I just started watching it within the last 2 months. I saw all of season 1 over a period of 4 weeks, then I had a season 2 marathon this past weekend. Watched all 12 episodes in 2 days. Every time one ended, I *HAD* to see the next one. And now I am able to watch season 3 as they air. My friend from work is recording them for me and I get them on DVD on Monday. I can hardly wait for the next new episode already!!! :hyper:

kutulu 06-15-2010 11:54 AM

two hottest things from this season so far

erics full bare ass
sam having erotic dreams about bill

Dave often walks in the room and says "soooookah" so when she did i standing in the kitchen with jason I about fell off the couch laughing

God I hate Tara, her character in the show is SO different from the books, I wish to hell she wouldnt make it out of season 3

SecretMethod70 06-28-2010 02:23 AM

Bill and Lorena sure do have kinky sex! (Pun totally intended ;))

ShaniFaye 06-28-2010 03:56 AM

That was def different, Im just really disappointed in Bill having sex with her. Sometimes I wonder what makes Alan want to deviate from the books with stuff like that lol

SecretMethod70 06-28-2010 05:28 AM

Probably the same reason I'll watch the TV show as a guilty pleasure but have no interest in reading the books :p

In this particular instance, though, I don't quite understand why he did that. I mean, I get that it was hateful angry sex, but, uh, why not just NOT have sex with her? Pretty sure that's a better way to get back at her.

The scene in the motel with Tara and English Vampire (whatever his name is) had a frustrating production error. Looking out the window, it seemed like daylight, not streetlight, that was shining on him. We know it was supposed to be nighttime because it was dark when Tara opened the door, but it made onodrim and I do a double-take.

Vampire mythology gripe: it doesn't make sense for there to be a magical barrier that prevents vampires from entering a human's home uninvited, yet they can glamour someone across that barrier and make that person invite them in.

---------- Post added at 08:09 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:06 AM ----------

Oh yeah, I'm totally down with killing off Tara and everyone related to her except Lafayette. Easily the most annoying characters on the show, and that's saying something!

---------- Post added at 08:28 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:09 AM ----------

Hmm, maybe you need to revisit the books? I just came across a bunch of people talking about how the scene happens in the books (implying, of course, that it does happen).

As one person notes, "In the books he is supposedly compelled by his maker due to the nature of the blood bond between them." That's the only explanation onodrim and I could come up with for why he'd do that, but it really makes no sense because we already know that she released him.

ShaniFaye 06-28-2010 05:33 AM

edit... I know what they are referencing now, and its FAR different than whats in the show...I wont say anymore for those that still might want to read them.

Lorena is only in the 3rd book for a few pages, a confrontation between her and Sookie towards the end, she wasnt in Dallas as per the 2nd True Blood season at all.

guy44 06-28-2010 08:33 AM

This is a show that desperately needs to figure out what to do with characters who aren't involved in the A plot.

Tara is just miserable about something and doesn't do anything of importance or interest in any episode, just like season 2.

Sam is lonely and trying to find out about his past, but doesn't really do anything interesting...just like season 2.

Jason is torn up about having killed someone...just like with Eddie. Other than that, he does nothing but feel guilty. I've seen this particular movie before.

Lafayette is sassy and is involved in the dangerous V trade. Just like season 1. And season 2. At least he's entertaining, though.

Alan Ball needs to learn to either severely withdraw focus from unused characters (a la The Wire) or kill them off (a la every Joss Whedon show). Keeping them around for no reason is just boring, except for Lafayette cause he's fun.

ShaniFaye 06-28-2010 09:54 AM

In my opinion thats his one main mistake, none of these characters were prominent in the book, well except for Sam, but he has completely changed Sam's family dynamic, in the books Sam was raised with his family and they were a good family, not whats being portrayed now.

I can understand expanding on characters since the books are all written in Sookie's point of view, but he's gone overboard. He turned Tara from a white chick that has a decent life owning a clothing boutique to the black whiny bitch that she is....Personally I think Lafayette needs more time lol

SecretMethod70 07-12-2010 03:11 AM
