What's your favorite long-running (over 5-years) TV show?
 

I think I'm up in the air between "All in the Family" "M.A.S.H.", and "Law and Order", both fairly consistenatly well-written and well-cast. Then again, I'm probably forgetting quite a few others that have had a good run. I'm thinking 5 seasons or more to qualify, though I can't say for certain what shows even qualify (without googling, that is). Frasier, Happy Days, Married with Children, Twilight Zone, Three's Company...a mixed bag, but there seem to be quite a few...


So, what's your favorite?

The simpsons. Without a shadow of a doubt.

On the drama side i'd go with ER.

I say Simpsons.
As well, I liked Star Trek TNG.

Simpsons as well. I think South Park is over 5 years so I will give them a vote as well.

Married...with Children. Oh man was that show hilarious. Also the X-Files, and Saved by the Bell

I like Boy meets world but I am just a stupid nerd that way. (really I have never met a second person who likes that show but EVERYONE knows it and it lasted 7 seasons... wtf?) Simpsons is the old stand by of course. I also liked the X-men cartoon show and X-men evolution while not hitting 5 seasons YET ... we all should hope.

Someone mentioned Buffy. Not to criticize, but what is the appeal of that show, besides the babe factor? To me, it seems like a rather mediocre show but I know alot of people that watch Buffy and Angel religiously.

Ok, so it was only on for 4 years, but if you haven't seen it, go check out Farscape...Best show on tv ever. The whole run is being re-aired on SCIFI right now mon-thurs nights...and there is active movement to get it back in production...so go check it out, and once you get hooked you can join the movement.

And I'm really getting into Buffy finally, after much prodding from friends.

MASH, Law & Order, Seinfeld are other greats.

Oh, and BBtB, I really like Boy Meets World, you aren't alone there.

Fearofmear, I had the same complaints you did for years with Buffy. But I started watching it, and it really is good. There's a reason it's on TV Guides 50 Greatest Shows ever list. I couldn't get past the whole monsters in bad costumes thing, but once you do, you'll find it's well written and very funny.

Um... 60 Minutes.

Anyways, my favorite would definitely be Law and Order (ONLY the original one). Always been great, even with different casts.

Absolutely no question, IMO.

The Simpsons, and Red Dwarf even though its on hiatus.... it did have 8 season, and they are still thinking of doing a 9th and 10th once the movie is done.

Worst show still running- Everybody loves Raymond. Don't know if it's over five years, but I have never found it funny. Same plot ever show, Raymond makes wife mad, wife feels neglected and shunned, parents fuck it all up, Raymond must offer up castrated nut sack to get wife to forgive him. Repeat.

So i agree with everyone on the simpsons, but I have a question. Is anyone else addicted to dbz ?? Its like herion, except Im more ashamed of this addiction. Over 600 episodes if count the original and gt with something like 20 some movies and a few X-mas speicals. Even subtle references to it in the South Park Movie.

O and i can't forget the Price is Right!!
