Question about the Animatrix
In The second renaissance, the humans nuke the robots city 01. They say the robots were unhurt by the heat generasted by the nuke. (Which is not how nukes do their damage BTW). But why are they not affected by the EMP from the nukes? I have thought about this, and can come up with no satisfactory answer. Is this really a glaring plot hole?
|
yes, probably. The film though was made for explaining how the matrix came to be, NOT how the fuck the robots survived EMP. But... *points to sig*
|
The robots were unaffected by the heat and radiation. I'm sure that some of the robots were destroyed, but the point was that it didn't have as much of an effect on the robots as it would if it were used against humans.
|
from what i recall, i think that the ElectroMagnetic Pulse only occurs when the nuke is detonated at a set hieght... i don't think it occurs when its detonated at ground level.
|
emp is an effect of a nuclear reaction, regardless of ehight. it's gonna happen whether they blow it above or on the ground, but above gives a much better spread.
i think the second rennaisance really referred to the lack of aftereffects that we "fragile" humans suffer from nuclear attacks. i'm sure the robots suffered losses, but not catastrophic losses as the humans would have liked to have seen from the attacks. |
I'm with phredgreen on this - it probably meant the long-term effects. If you look at "Matriculated" or watever it's called, the girl at the begining wears a full-body protective suit and a facemask.

Does watching this help at all with the story? Im deciding on whether or not to get it on PPV.

Beyond was my favorite.

Osiris was amazing. Just a thing of beauty.
Also Detective Story was a great short film. The rest I found to be good to average, but with the above two it makes Animatrix worth checking out. |
I thought the first four (Osiris, Renaissance 1 and 2, Kid's story), and Detective Story were the most interesting. The others, not so much. It's worth it for those 5, however.

i was wondering that myself. i still think final flight was the best
|
Its like watching TNG, you gotta have the slower, more boring ones for the background, not every episode can be sweet...
the one w/ the samari fight scene, was awesome, but final flight was hands down the best. |
I really enjoyed the dvd as a whole. Now, you just have to watch Final Flight, play through Enter the Matrix, and then watch Kid's story, and then see Reloaded...and become incredibly confused.
November is just 4 months away... |
Final Flight, The Haunted House, Kid's Story, and the Athlete were good.
Hey, has anyone tried to rip this DVD to VCD or something? I tried, but the audio is messed up. Only DVD I've had this problem with. |
All the episodes are pretty good. Second Renaissance is my favorite, followed by World Record. Matriculated is just weird but extremely well done in ways of animation.
|
Why did black stuff come out of the athletes leg i still didn't understand that
|
One thing I thought about while watching Renaissance part II was that after the humans darkened the skies, the robots could easily send robots into space to collect solar energy up there. I don't think rocket technology is beyond them. If there's no rocket fuel, they surely can have some kind of electronicly powered space craft. A large solar array in space could generate a very large amount of power.
Maybe they wouldn't be able to get as much power as they could from humans... but it's a lot easier to use solar power than grow humans. |
Good poing gortex, Final Flight is amazing but I read that the models & textures & that were the same ones used in the final fantasy movie. No biggy, its still an awesome flick.
|
The black stuff coming out of the athlete was to show that he pushed himself so hard that his muscles burst(tore?) right?
Bah, as if the robots could beat humans in war. I mean we've been killing each other for thousands of years. It's just something that we're way too good at. :( The military power of a global alliance would be quite impressive actually. German engineering, Japanese technology, massed Chinese soldiers, American resources... |
