My father turned me onto this show 3rd show into the 2nd season and I've been an addict of it since. The way these guys bend the rules, and the holes they dig but get out of. Fantastic writing.
"We think that is the guy who kidnapped your son...but we are cops and cant go in w/o a warrent" "well im not a cop!" "you know, your right"........*guy runs accross and beats down the pedophile at his residence*.... "oop thats assualt, now we can go in" Fantastic!!!

love the show... didnt' watch the first season when it first aired.. watched it on demand on digital cable and my wife and I watched it in about 3 evenings.
We can't wait to watch it every tuesday. 2nd season ending was a bit too abrupt... i guess that season 3 is going to be very over the top though.

i watched most of the first season when it was on, and then kinda lost track... saw an episode a couple of months ago and knew that the new season was starting in march, so i took the time between to rent all of seasons 1, 2 and 3 on DVD so i could catch up. damn, what a great show! |

I havent seen any previous seasons, but I have caught all the current episodes. What I don't exactly understand is, what does Vic hope to get by not turning in Shane? It seems like he has enough evidence from the tapes to burn him and Antwon for a long time.

and that's probably the biggest thing you miss by not seeing the previous seasons - all of vic and shane's history together. vic still stands to get into some very big trouble over the things that he and his strike team were involved in, and shane getting caught could lead to all of that information being made public (shane could talk in order to save his ass).

This is in my opinion the best show on television right now. We can't stop watching it! Some of the best characters out of any show I've seen. I can't get enough of Walton Goggins' "Shane Vendrell" character. He is my Buddy Icon on AIM.

I've always liked Michael Chiklis, ever since The Commish way back in the early 90's. Its odd seeing him play a sorta bad anti-hero type character, when he was always so straight laced and moraled in that series.

oh man was that a great episode or what. Vic almost wasted Shane. holy shit. when Shane threw down Antoine's partner and started frothing from the mouth yelling at him I don't think I've cheered and yelled that hard in a long time

Yeah, looks like they wont get enough time to take that Vicadin they were talkin about using to beat the polygraph. And its a shame, now that Vic is actually clean, hes gettin set up buy his CO to get hammered by IA for any indiscretion he makes.

Last episode was intense. I had a slight doubt that the show could hit the ground running from last season's finale, but when Spoiler: Shane found out that Lem DIDN'T actually plan on selling out the strike team, and was contemplating suicide, I felt those emotions from last season all over again.
I'm excited but worried as to what is going to happen this season. I can smell some serious shit that is going to go down...... Anyone been watching?

No matter what happens to Vic, as long as Kavanaugh gets his by the end of the season, everything will be alright. I really don't like Whittaker, and I was hoping his involvment in the series would end last season. But since his character is hanging around and playing it dirty against Vic, son of a bitch must pay.

Okay, so a recap:
Spoiler: So Kavanaugh saw that Emolia was going to break under Claudia, and he gave himself up. I honestly wasn't sure how he was going to play that, but it makes sense based on what he's done before. I'm trying to figure out if he's really gone from the Strike Team's lives, though. BTW, Forest Whitaker is a frighteningly good actor (what was Ghost Dog all about?). Spoiler: I'm left wondering if Vic has gone off the deep end. His kidnapping of Guardo's girlfriend could bring a large scale gang war to Farmington. I was surprised when Ronnie stepped in on babysitting. It almost seemed like a passive way of committing his acceptance of the kidnapping. I can't wait for next week's episode. Spoiler: I have to wonder if Shane is crazy enough to come clean. www.fxnetworks.com/theshield You can ask Michael Chiklis a question this week he may answer and record a podcast. Quite cool. |

Spoiler: If this is how the Kavanaugh arc ends, I am completely disappointed. After the hell that he put the guys through last season, including being partially responsible for Lems death, he needs a hell of a lot more karmic retribution than just a short jail sentence. I hate to say it, but I hope he returns so Vic and the gang can really stick it to him.
And as far as I'm concerned, Chiklis is a certified acting genius, being able to portray such a kind and righteous man in the Commish, then turning around a becoming the quintessential anti-hero in this, and doing it convincingly in both. |

I dunno, Spoiler: having his crazy ex-wife wife nailed, with two orgasms, by Vic was pretty cold.
Edit: You can ask Michael Chiklis a question on www.fxnetworks.com Here's a transcript of my question: Spoiler: Hello Mr. Chiklis, I’m a big fan. As an actor, you always have a great influence over the character you’re playing. Even though someone else may write the show, it’s you on screen as that man in the given situation. As you are a big part of the creative force behind the Vic Mackey character, and considering the morally questionable psyche of the character, do you believe that Vic still believes that he does more good than harm? For example, this season we see Vic kidnapping Guardo’s girlfriend in order to lure him into LA so that he can torture and kill him for his mistaken connection to Lem’s murder. Do you think he sees that as justice or vengeance, or does he even care anymore? Thanks very much, and keep up the incredible work on the show. Last edited by Willravel; 04-11-2007 at 02:23 PM.. |

"I can still see Vic Mackey’s self-satisfied smirk from the day we shot the final scene; Vic staring at Kavanaugh sitting in a jail cell, basking in the knowledge that (in his mind at least) he’d won. Did he? The scorecard at least says so. Kavanaugh lost his job, his wife, his attempt to bring down Vic and the Strike Team. Yet by confessing to framing Vic, and clearing his conscience, Kavanaugh won something very important; his humanity. So, who really won or lost? You’ll have to wait till season 7 to find out, but I assure you it’ll be worth the journey." Perhaps this isn't the end of Kavanaugh. I don't like him going out "with a whimper." It doesn't seem right. Quote:

From what it sounds like Will did, and what I certainly did, I'd suggest a binge of The Shield. It has the best effect when you're watching 5+ episodes at a time. Hahah.
I'm sure all of us can find the time to donate to a Shield binge ![]() But yeah, Drag0n, you especially need to get the season (is it four? or three? both? I can't remember) that has to do with the Armenians primarily. They are a nasty bunch and it sets up these late episodes really well.

If you're going to marathon it, be prepared for an emotional rollercoaster. Shows like this are intended to be watched weekly, so you can have some time to process. If you do what I did, bang through it in a few weeks, it's a lot more intense.
