Lame, straight to DVD, sequels...
I hate how whoever makes these weak ass sequels try to mooch off their only hit and make these lame straight to DVD sequels...
i.e. The Butterfly effect, the movie was barely viewable as it was, now they wanna make us try and buy an even weaker sequel... eh... vent over.. What are some of the sequels you didnt expect, hated, or just didn't like the first one and didn't want to see a sequel of it... Another weak sequel... SPEED 2, and 3! |
They made Speed THREE?!?

There should be a law!
Pan and I were talking just yesterday because I saw a movie I want to see at the $1 movie down here. Barnyard: The Orig Party Animals He mentioned how sad it was when adults wanted to see cartoon movies because Hollywood was all out of ideas. I believe hes right. :( |
Sage, I was just discussing this with my sister the other day...this year has been awful for movies...nothing coming out seems to be worth watching anymore!

I know how you feel lindalove. I used to work at a video store in my hometown and along with the crappy straight to dvd, low budget horror movies, we would get just as crappy straight to dvd sequels such as Like Mike 2, Roadhouse 2, and Hollow Man 2 (Christian Slater, your acting career is finished, get over it) every week. It was pretty sad to see because they didn't rent much and it boggles the mind why anyone would want to rent them in the first place.

I've always wondered about the economics behind those low budget movies you find on sale at Gas stations and in the remainder bin at rental shops. You know the ones: Lorenzo Lamas or Shane Somebody-Or-Other takes on a gang of drug dealers, mobsters, psychotic truckers, or foreigners, trying to save the family business, or farm, or name. He's usually an ex-cop or green beret.
They must make money or they wouldn't bother producing them, so where does the money come from? International sales? Cable TV distribution rights? Gas station sales for $6.99? Have you ever bought a cheesy action pic with noname actors? |
Maybe those movies are HUGE overseas? :D
I saw a commercial for Save the Last Dance 2. I thought it rather odd that the story was EXACTLY the same as Save the Last Dance. They even had a caucasian girl fall in love with an african american guy again. |
I saw an ad for Phenomenon 2 on that Lifetime Channel spinoff. (can't remember the channel name)
Anyway, it surprised the hell out of me when I saw the ad, so I went to look it up on the menu. It came out about 4 or so years ago, and from what I could tell from the ad and synopsis, it barely had any resemblance to the charming and sadly-sweet movie that starred John Travolta and Robert Duvall. Looked like all it did was use the telekenesis aspect of the story and the title, then made it into an action flick. Makes me sad. |
Starship Troopers 2
Ghost in the Shell 2 |
American Psycho 2. Not related in any way to the writings of Bret Easton Ellis (author of American Psycho) and just plain bad. But I will say, it's an excuse to watch Mila Kunis and see Bill Shatner act ridiculous in a role he knows is stupid. :p

Cruel Intentions 2
