Spiderman 3 Trailer...
Spiderman 3
I think the trailer looks damn good, and I'm really looking forward to seeing what they do with the character of Peter Parker. The metaphor of the ring kind of gives you the entire direction of the relationship between MJ and Peter, doesn't it? I was very impressed with the second movie, and I'm hoping that the third gets even better. What say you? |
Wow, I got goosebumps just watching that, I can't wait!!!
|
Damn it... we have to wait a whole year?
I love the Sandman, by the way. |
I can't say I'm that impressed with the black suit.
Maybe it'll come out different once in the theatre; right now, it just looks like a dirty red suit. I don't see any significant stylistic changes at all. The movie looks good, although I have to wonder how they're going to fit all this in one movie. Gwen, Peter's relationship with M.J., Eddie Brock/Venom, Sandman, Harry and his stint with Daddy's toys, not to mention the mysterious 4th baddie. That's a lot of stuff to squeeze into a couple of hours. Looks very good though. |
For me the black suit was the biggest part of the trailer that gave me the goosebumps. I had no idea what the plotline was supposed to be for the new movie or who the villains were so for me this was a huge suprise.
|
Looks pretty good, but why the hell do we have to wait practically a year for it to come out?
I was a big fan of the 1st and 2nd one, so I hope they do well with this one. I'm really hoping they just don't cram as many baddies in it as they can, a la Van Helsing... |
They are actually still filming, my gf saw them in NYC near her workplace last week. It's all about the hype.

Then again, I'm just pulling this stuff outta my ass. |
I predict Eddie Brock and Venom to be big in this film... with Eddie going to prison at the end. It will be in that prison where the villan of the fourth film... Carnage will be born.
I have a magic ass just like fhqwhgads! |
I love it! More! Gimme more! I cannot wait!
|
I guess it all depends on what's going to happen to Mary Jane?
I've read that Dunst doesn't want to play the role anymore and while I haven't read anything implying they're killing off MJ.... Carnage in the 4th? That would be pretty freakin' sweet. |
From what I've gathered ....
Spoiler (as to the villians, characters): Spoiler: I guess the main villians will be Harry Osborn as a new Goblin (which can be seen quickly in the teaser) and the Sandman. I hear Venom won't come until the end, if at all. The black suit makes Peter kind of "bad-ass" and thus enters the Gwen Stacy (my favorite spidey character) relationship. I also hear that Bruce Campbell will return (of course), this time playing a character named Quentin Beck (who is the villian "Mysterio" in the comics) though I don't think that he will be a major character, just an annoyance. There will also be allusions to the Dr. Conners and the lizard. |
Spoiler: Bruce Campbell as Quentin Beck???!!! It's PERFECT!
Anybody notice how Peter looks a lot like Bright Eyes's Connor Oberst when he's dancing with Gwen Stacy? |

Being a huge spidey fan, my opinion is that the whole Venom/symbiote thing is going to to spill over into the next film. Think about it. Venom/Brock are the closest thing to the most violent threat to Peter/Spidey [ that is a potential movie all unto itself (which all of us comic geeks would pay $100 to see be done on the big screen! ) ]. There is no way in all of God's green earth that they can tell that whole story in one movie. They will alude to the symbiote relation with Peter some how, but they cannot cram that whole story into a single movie including Sandman, some cat on a Goblin Glider, MJ, Gwen Stacy, Bruce Campbell ( ala Mysterio ), Curt Conners ( ala Lizard ), some mysterios fourth villian, and whatever comic references that they have to fit in to appease all the friggen fanboys. Mark my words! Spidey vs. Venom in #4!
|
No; Dunst was caught saying that Brock (played by Grace) will be playing a big role. I bet Venom will play a bigger role then anyone has predicted so far. I bet it's Harry slowly devoloping through the whole film, but dominated by Sandman and Venom. (Hopefully... venom was my favorite)

HUGE FLAPJACKIN Spoiler:
SERIOUSLY! DONT READ ON IF YOU DONT WANT IT RUINED FOR YOU! "The earliest script reports are very accurate, however it was only a rough draft and there have been ALOT of significant changes made. The first part of the script deals with Peter and MJ's on-going relationship. The first scene has Peter attend one of MJ's stage events. As the audience applauds in approval, we pan up to see Harry Osborn's reveal, leering at Peter. Next, as Peter and MJ part (MJ getting into a cab driven by Chris Tucker) in a comical moment, Peter removes a ring from his pocket...an engagement ring. As Peter is walking to his apartment, he's attacked by The Goblin (Harry Osborn). After an intense aerial fight sequence that deals with Peter not only trying to save himself from injury but also save his engagement ring. Finally, the fight goes into an alley where Peter creates a web that Harry flies straight into and is knocked unconcious. Peter removes his facial mask to see that it is indeed Harry. Harry, not remembering anything (effects from the human performance enhancers) promises to go get help. Next we're introduced to Eddie Brock, a rival photographer at the Daily Bugle that always competes with Peter. There is tension between the two from the get-go, mostly on Brock's behalf. JJ informs both men that there is a promotion available, and that the man who gets more incriminating shots of Web-Head will get the job. JJ assigns them both to take pictures at the Spider-Man Appreciation Day event the next day. Next, we're introduced to Sandman, already equipped with his shape-shifting sand powers. He robs a bank and Spidey is on his tail. In the process, Gwen Stacey is nearly killed only to be saved by Spidey. There is a small moment between her and Spider-Man. Meanwhile, The Sandman has gotten away. We follow Sandman to his grungey home with his wife. We see that he is stealing the money to have a procedure done to cure him of his newfound abilities. He is in direct contact with a man named Justin Hammer about the procedure. (a nod to the Ultimate comics) We see the arrival of the symbiote to earth, straight out of a 60's sci-fi monster movie as a meteorite lands in central park. Meanwhile, we see Harry, now a full-blown alcoholic, in his father's den. He continues to hear the voice of his father inside his head. He tries to fight it off, but its just too strong. Harry goes into the Goblin lair, only to see his father's reflection in broken glass. Norman tells Harry to avenge him. A pumpkin bomb explodes right next to his face, awaking him, as it was all just a nightmare, and Harry is slumped over a table, an empty bottle of whiskey in hand. We're re-introduced to Mr. Ditkovich and Ursula as Peter goes to his apartment. Peter and MJ go on a date that night as we soon learn that MJ is having problems with her father, her acting career (not being able to land a movie role) and is perhaps a bit jealous of the fame that her significant other is gaining as Spider-Man. Peter talks about how he revealed himself to her and everything that has happened, before proposing to her. MJ says yes. Next, Peter is making his way home as the symbiote from the meteor sticks to the bottom of his shoe. He goes back to his apartment, and goes to sleep, as the symbiote manifests itself under his bed and lies in wait. The next day in Dr. Conners class, Peter and Gwen meet. He begins to tutor her as Brock becomes insanely jealous. We learn that Brock and Gwen are ex's. At the Spider-Man Appreciation Day event, Peter meets up with MJ. They talk abit as Peter makes sure that MJ assures him she's not upset about the event. Next, Peter quick-changes into Spidey, making his appearance. Gwen, for being saved by Spider-Man, presents him with the key to the city. She also steals one of his patented upside-down kisses. Brock is immediately infuriated. MJ is too discouraged. The event is interrupted by Sandman, who has hijacked an armored car. Sandman goes at it with Spidey. Spider-Man, attempting to save everyone, is beaten for the time being as Sandman makes a get away. Brock is there to snap pictures of the down-and-out Spidey. We see more tension between Brock and Gwen, as Gwen tells Brock that she never wants to see him again. He immediately blames Spider-Man. Peter, exhausted, slumps up the stairs in full Spider-Man outfit infront of Ditkovich, who just stares wide-eyed. Peter goes to sleep, as the symbiote attaches itself to him. The screen becomes entirely black. Next, Peter wakes up, hanging upside down above the city. He sees his reflection in the side of a building in the Spider-Man costume, however it has become entirely black (the symbiote suit) Peter learns to control his new suit. The next morning at the Bugle, JJ is going crazy over the Sandman pictures and Spidey being beaten. In a comedy moment, Hoffman and JJ name the Sandman. JJ praises Brock for his photo's. Peter wakes up as he realizes he's late for work. He sees that the Symbiote suit will not come off. Hurrying, he rushes out the door. Ditkovich confronts him about Spider-Man, as Peter tells him that Spider-Man comes over every Tuesday night to play poker. Slowly, we start to see the symbiote taking its toll on Peter. He explodes on Dr. Conners in class, and on Aunt May. Meanwhile, we see MJ's father hitting her up for money. Peter gets into a confrontation with him and ends up laying him out. MJ and Peter get into a fight over it. Peter also learns that the symbiote can transform into an article of clothing, in particular a leather jacket and the mask portion of the symbiote actually becomes Peter's hair, turning jet black. His eyes even change. He starts to gain a pale complexion. Peter goes out on a date with Gwen Stacy, and has seemingly become more aggressive even in the courting of women. Next, we see Peter in the Symbiote suit beating common criminals senseless. It is truly controlling him and turning him evil. All the sudden, a man robs a small store and takes off running as Spidey is on his tail. He chases him into an alley. As Spidey grabs him, he begins having hallucinations of Uncle Ben being killed. Suddenly, the man is his arms becomes the man who shot Uncle Ben. Next, he sees visions of Sandman killing Uncle Ben. All effects of the symbiote. Peter loses control of the suit, growing in size and strength, as his teeth become sharp and long, and a giant tongue comes out of his mouth. He heaves the criminal through the air and starts screaming to get the suit off of him. Peter takes off, jumping from rooftop to rooftop. He lands on power cables and is nearly fried. Peter lands in a graveyard as he crawls through and comes to the grave of Uncle Ben. It is raining heavily as Peter clings to the headstone. Next, we see Eddie Brock and Gwen. Eddie tries to apologize to Gwen. He tries to force himself on her as she runs out. Brock sees Symbiote Spidey on TV being covered by the news. Meanwhile, Harry wants to meet MJ. They meet in central park as Harry stalks MJ first. They finally come face-to-face and talk about Peter. This time, its Harry who tries to force himself on MJ as she runs out. Peter has a nightmare where the symbiote eats him alive. He awakes in a cold sweat, and swings to Dr. Conners lab. Conners takes a sample of the Symbiote and starts to study it. We also see clues of him working on the lizard DNA project to replace his arm. Next, we see Peter and MJ going over wedding details with Aunt May. They come to the conclusion that they simply don't have enough money to give MJ the wedding she wanted (at the top of a green hill like what was said in SM2). Because of this, Symbiote Spidey robs a bank as Brock is there to get photo's of it. Brock is clearly pulling ahead in JJJ's eyes as Peter rages on JJ and Robbie Robertson. There is another Sandman bank robbery, as the Symbiote suit covers Peter. Spider-Man and Sandman battle, as Sandman makes a crack about he was the first one to get to the bank therefore the money is his! The fight goes down into the subway. The symbiote tells Peter that it was Sandman who murdered Uncle Ben. Sandman is doused with a giant wave of water as Spidey gets away. Sandman reforms at his grungey home. Meanwhile, there is tension between Gwen Stacey and her father, who is heading a task force to take down Spider-Man. In one scene, Symbiote Spidey actually fights the police. Spidey is shot several times but learns that bullets do not affect the symbiote suit. In the midst of it, Captain Stacey is killed by falling debris. Taking somewhat responsibility for it, Aunt May allows Gwen to stay at her apartment. Gwen gets even closer to Peter, but now hates Spider-Man. Meanwhile, MJ gives Peter his ring back and tells him she cannot marrie him. With that, MJ gets on a train and leaves New York. We see Peter drop the ring into an incinerator. Next, we see that Dr. Conners has enlisted the help of his good friend, and African-American doctor named Ben Riley, who has tested the symbiote sample and has concluded that its weaknesses are loud sound and heat. Peter, being tortured by the symbiote swings to a cathedral. Meanwhile, Brock follows him. As Peter swings into the belltower, he starts to ring the bell as the symbiote is weakened. He rips it off just as Eddie enters and sees that its Peter. Meanwhile, the symbiote lands on Brock and begins to bond with him. Peter swings off and inside the cathedral, Brock is taken over by the symbiote and he becomes a steaming husk, just as the task force to take down Spider-Man arrives. They enter the cathedral as the husk explodes and VENOM emerges. Venom single-handedly takes out the task force. HArry still struggles with the voice of his father inside his head. Meanwhile, back at his apartment, and looking at a photo of himself and MJ, Peter realizes that he truly loves her. He meets Gwen at a coffee shop to tell her that he loves MJ when Venom hits the scene. VEnom takes Gwen to the top of a skyscraper. Peter, unable to change into Spider-Man, faces Venom at the top of a skyscraper as the rain pours down, only wearing a hood over his head to protect his identity from Gwen. As Peter and Venom battle, his hood is thrown off as Gwen sees that its Peter. In that split second, Gwen is dropped as Peter has no choice but to try and save her, however her neck is snapped and she dies. She dies in Peter's arms just as police arrive and Venom gets away. Meanwhile, the symbiote takes complete control of Brock telling him that he needs to kill Spider-Man and Parker. Next, we see Peter at Uncle Ben's gravestone again. Finally, Spider-Man is back in full-swing. Sandman is pulling off his biggest heist yet as Spidey hits the scene. The two battle as it goes to a construction site. Venom hits the scene. Soon, Sandman begins to absorb sand around him as he starts to grow huge. He creates giant sand pits as Spidey jumps over them, with Venom leaping after him, and Sandman slamming down his giant malice and sledgehammer. Soon, Venom has beaten Spider-Man. Sandman attempts to finish him off but Venom takes a bite out of Sandman, killing him, saying that HE is the one who will take out Spider-Man. Just as Venom is about to kill Spider-Man, Harry/Goblin hits the scene. Harry and Spider-Man fight against Venom. Just as Venom is about to deliver the death blow once again to Spider-Man with one of his tentacles, Harry dives in the way and takes the hit. Ben Riley and his team arrive with a supersonic sound device and defeat Venom, as they contain the symbiote. Meanwhile, Harry dies in Peter's arms and tells him that he's his best friend. The closing scenes show Peter at Harry's funeral. He walks off as roses are dropped on Harry's casket. Pan up to see Norman Osborn, smiling. Next, we see the symbiote being locked up in Ben Riley's lab and labeled as 'VENOM'. The last scene we find Peter and Aunt May ontop of the Empire State Building, she reveals that she's always known that he was Spider-Man. Sirens are heard in the distance as Spider-Man dives off the building and quick-changes into Spidey, swinging off as the credits roll. (There will be a scene added somewhere into the script that will involve Quentin Beck aka Mystero, who will be played by Bruce Campbell) THis scene will also explain his previous appearances in the Spider-Man films." It's quoted from someone on imdb. Apparently the script was leaked, but I can't find it anywhere... |
I certainly had my doubts about how they were going to pull it off, but after reading the spoiler...sounds pretty good.
thanks, sadistik. :) |
After reading the spoiler, Spoiler: I'm left wondering how in God's name they are going to have a black Ben Riley. Ben Riley, for those who don't know, was very much inveolved in the Clonage Saga storyline in which Peter Parker was cloned. Ben Riley at first was thought to be the clone. Then it was discovered he was the real Spider-Man. Then it was discovered that Ben was the clone again. Then he became the Scarlet Spider, then when Perter Parker lost his powers, he took over as Spierman. Ben, fo course, dies eventually (by being impailed by Green Goblin #4's glider, not unlike GG#1's death in the first Spider-Man movie)...but he was a very important character. This was years back, and I don't know what's happened since, but the movie franchise is really damning a wonderful storyline by making Ben Riley look nothing like Peter Parker.
Damn it. |
According to the spoiler I was right... somewhat... happy dance!
|
Rocking, that looks so awesome!! :D
I wonder how close to the story line they'll stick.. O.o |
I'm not gonna read the spoiler, but damn, how can I hold a year!?!?!
I was watching the trailer, and looking closely at the last seconds, the giant 3 appears to be reflecting something weird..maybe just clouds, but it looks like there might be something there... |
New trailer is out:- http://www.ifilm.com/presents/spider...m&refsite=3981
|
It looks incredible, but it still bugs me to have Topher Grace as Venom. That just seems wrong to me. Carnage I could see, but not Venom.
|
I think I just got an orgasm from watching the second trailer....
|
It draws closer. I grow a stiffy.
|
One day they'll make a comic movie that's true to the comic book. It's sad that so far the closest movie adaptation to the comic was Hellboy.
I'll probably go see it, but if it's anything like the last two I'll have wasted $10. |
Ive seen bits and pieces of the first two and just wasnt impressed.. The third doesnt look good to me either I am afraid. I shall just have to pass. :(

I actually didn't think Spidey 1 and 2 were bad at all. Yes, I like the comics (although I'm pretty young and haven't been around since Spider-Man's first years), and I think Tobey Macguire plays a pretty good Parker. The movies have a lot of cheesy moments, but the comic book itself is full of these.
My main complaint so far is the Green Goblin. I don't think I need to explain. As for will's comment on Hellboy being the best comic-to movie adaptation, I'm not sure. I never read Hellboy but the movie bored me. I liked X-men 1 and 2 a lot, and 3 was a massive dissapointment. IMO, Batman Begins takes the cake as the best adaptation. Maybe a thread should be created on comic-based movies. |

i guess that's a yes.

I was so disappointed. I loved the first two, but this one, just, kinda fell flat. I'd give it a 6.9/10
|
Grancey and I saw it tonight and liked it the best of all three.
|
......and I really don't even like Spiderman....., but THIS was good......
|
Spiderman 3 is getting terrible reviews compared to the first 2. It's barely staying above rotten on rottentomatoes.com. I think Spiderman 2 is the best comic book movie that's ever been made but I was hoping for better than a damned 30% drop on RT.
|
7/10.
All three "villains" were beyond wonderful; the movie was too convoluted, however. Sandman was so awesome he deserved to be the only villain in the movie, and it would have worked. Some of the "Raimi tactics" were a little overboard (jazz cafe dance session, etc.) but the humor was still laugh-out-loud funny. I'd say the movie is about on par with the first one. Spiderman 2 is still probably my favorite comic movie of all time, and it's hard to top it. Worth seeing? Yes. Better than SP2? Not by a long shot. Needed some editing, pull out Venom or Sandman and put them in their own Spiderman movie. The movie ended up concentrating on all the wrong stuff. The movie isn't anywhere near as bad as the reviews (as a total) are saying, but the movie definitely isn't perfect either. It's hard to explain. During Spiderman 2, I enjoyed the ENTIRE movie; I liked the slow parts, I liked the action, I liked the drama, I liked it all. Alfred Molina was unforgettable as Doc Ock; one of the best casting jobs in years. In this movie, for some reason, I just didn't care about the drama, I just wanted it to be over so we could see more action/suspense. There was just way too much going on. Tips to fix SP3: 1. Remove either Venom or Sandman (and insert into next movie) 2. Remove the cheesy parts that were a little too much (jazz scene, etc.) 3. Less is more with the special effects. SP2 had it nearly perfect. WAAAAY too much CGI (even though it was good CGI) in this one. Stop trying to top the predecessor! 4. Needs more real emotion, a la SP2. Acting and script in SP2 were so damn good. Each scene flowed beautifully. In SP3, many of the lines just didn't work. Summary: Spiderman 3 is a great effort at topping SP2, but only ends up topping it in the visual effects, due to some questionable scenes and misdirection/emphasis on certain aspects in the film. 7/10. |
Spider-man 3 is.. so bad. So bad. Astonishingly bad.
This was the show "The Producers" wish they could have made. Filled with terrible gags, shitty acting, gaping plot holes, worthless characters, fanboy fallacies, and a flock of seagulls, this was one of the worst movies ever. Like Catwoman and Batman Forever, you have to wonder how the fuck these movies get made. Everything either fell flat or was laughably HORRIBLE. "Oh how convenient, an anatomical science experiment that you can just stumble into." "J Jonah Jameson can do physical comedy too, right?" "It's OK, Mary Jane doesn't need integrity; it doesn't allow us to tell this awful story." "So uhh, how does someone who's cool act?" "Venom's not important enough for a story, is he?" "You know, I always wanted to make a musical." Absolute horse piss. |

If I may interrupt.
What's really laughable is grown-ups melting down over what makes a movie seem horrible because a comic book character is less "authentic." It's a movie. About a comic book character. Sheesh. Okay, you may now resume your obligatory outrage. |
I grew up on Spider-man. To me, the character is almost like a childhood friend. They, the Marvel writing teams, had very complex character development over decades spanning thousands of brilliant and original story lines. All the writers of the movie had to do was lift one of them. Had they used the comics like a storyboard, like Sin City, they would have had a massive hit.

Spiderman 3 doesn't offend me because it's a bad Spiderman movie. It offends me because it's a bad movie, made all the worse considering the source material they had available to them. |
Sorry for the poorly worded, ill-advised post, everybody.
I got a little chapped last night at a review I read where the little pimple-faced twerp suggested that anyone who liked the movie obviously didn't know anything about Spiderman. I liked the movie a lot, and we all bought Spiderman off the rack as brand new issues in the mid-60's, so there goes that theory. Unfortunately, the review didn't allow me to vent backwards, so I did that here instead. Bad judgement late at night. |
Did you also like Batman Forever?
|
Quote:
But I do know that they very aspects of Spiderman 3 that seem to be generating the most intense heat (screwball comedy, dancing sequences, jazz clubs, relationships, inner struggles) are the parts I liked the most. The video game aspects of the movie are the forgettable parts to me. |

If they wanted to show that Peter was being consumed by the symbiote, they should have made his overall attitude darker instead of goofier. More like the scene where he shows that Eddie Brock photoshopped the picture of Spider-Man. Just have him be an all out dick. |
I'm avoiding Spiderman 3 simply because it seems like it's suffering from third film syndrome. Trying to stuff so much stuff into the film that the plot is nothing but a string of events. They have 3 villains, each of which are good enough to carry the film on it's own. Just a Spidey/Venom plot would be way more that enough.
|
I have two things to say:
1) Maybe, since they knew everyone would go see it anyways, they made it suck so that Fantastic Four 2 would look good by comparison. 2) Whatever we heard in the "Jazz Room," was not jazz. |
Quote:
I haven't seen the movie yet, but I think there's a couple types of fans. People who love Spiderman no matter what the quality of the movie is, who're just happy to see Spidey get exposure. & People who are so elitist, that everything just has to be perfect right down to the very last inch. I really hate these people, because they don't appreciate a lot of things, and just make the filmmaker's feel like shit. To them, I have this to say: "What have you done that was so good?" |
Quote:
1) False Choice: There are not two kinds of Spiderman fans, there are tens of thousands. I love Spiderman, and I want to see the character done justice on the big screen. 2) I'm not elitist, and had they, writers, director, marketing, etc., paid a little more attention to the comic books upon which the character was based, the movies would have been even better. I liked Spiderman. I really liked Spiderman 2. I hated Spiderman 3. The thing is, people who aren't lifelong Spiderman fans, such as myself, also think the movie was horrible. It wasn't just bad from an uberfan's perspective, but simply from a moviegoer's perspective. That should give everyone involved pause. As to what I've done that's so good: I've written 4 books, about 30 short stories and screenplays, over 600 musical compositions, and a daughter. Of course one does not need to make movies in order to judge them, so that's really not relevant. |

sadistikdreams, seeing as you HAVEN'T SEEN THE MOVIE YET, will you come back and apologize to Halx, the owner of TFP and an all around good person, for suggesting his article should be buried once you've actually seen Spiderman 3?
|
sadistik, I'm not elitist, but I do have standards. The MOVIE was terrible. I was prepared to live with a few fanboy letdowns in favor of a good movie, but the whole thing stunk to high hell. I made one paragraph in the way of my fanboy wishes, and the rest was all about how bad of a MOVIE it was.
|
Sadistik: I don't know shit about Spiderman or comic books in general. However, I was there and that was one terrible movie. It's hard to imagine that it wouldn't suffer in comparison or by being tied to something classic and popular like the rest of the Spiderman universe.
|
See, can y'all not step back and think that, hey, maybe I'm right? That's what I mean by elitist.

Threatening. If am I am troll, shouldnt you just ignore me? Instead, 6 posts have been made, wasting peoples time, where y'all could've just ignored me. Honestly, I think y'all have a need to argue, and point out that I'm somehow wrong. It's an opinion folks. It's subjective. Relax. |
You have an opinion about a movie you've haven't seen yet. You can't be subjective about a movie you've never seen, and it makes even less sense to judge those who have seen the movie and have subjective opinions about it. I can't speak for anyone else, but I was trying to bring that blatantly obvious fact to your attention, so you'd stop trolling.
|
I wasnt sharing my opinion about the movie itself.
|
You were sharing your opinion of other people's opinions. The thing is, you presented a false choice (that was mildly offensive) and you have no opinion of your own to compare our opinions to because, again, you've not seen the movie

Anyway, I still can't decide whether to go watch the damn movie or not. My friend who has about the same amount of spidey-geekiness (and general geekiness) as me told me to download it. I had such respect for Sam Raimi, now I'm just confused. |
I think you guys are looking at this all wrong, from a "glass half empty" viewpoint. We should all be happy, if not amazed, that they were able to create 2 good movies in the series. Not that spiderman doesn't have enough material for 3 good movies, but because hollywood has a habit of fucking every idea up, not just comic book movies with reams upon reams of source material to pull from. So I say thank you Sam Raimi, 2 outta 3 aint half bad. But quit while you're ahead.
|
Absolutely. I thought the first was okay, not great but okay. The second was great. I wish they had opened with Doc Oc. The fact that those were decent only makes the third all the worse, just like X-Men. I left thinking that was so bad they may not make another, and it's going to suck that this was how it ended.
|
Yeah, it'd really suck if the third installment was the last (which might end up happening). It would leave a bad aftertaste.

Can someone explain why all the women were attracted to Peter Parker after he started wearing the venom suit?

Everything I'm hearing is a terrible shame... Spiderman 2 was actually pretty good- better than the first, I think.
I'm seeing this supposed suck-fest tomorrow, and I'll come back to weigh in. :) |
I saw it. Holy Fuck. I think I really had to witness it with my own eyes. Every time someone told me it was crap, I just couldn't believe it, since the first two were too good.
I don't care if you're a spidey fan or not. I am, but even if I weren't, I'd still label it as a bad movie. I'm glad that I didn't have to pay to see it. Raimi, I'm sorry for this, but really, Fuck you. |
Heh. I saw it, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Then again, I didn't go into it with any expectations. /shrug

I just saw it, I liked it. But I do see that they're trying too damn hard in this. Venom was a huge disappointment and Harry Osborn, who was supposed to don the Green Goblin costume as well, didn't (btw, I think the Green Goblin costume looked stupid). And Tobey Maguire looked like an asshole when wore the black suit. I never liked him much as PP/Spider-Man any way. This confirms it.
As for Sandman, this is the first time I see him and I think he's the only one out of the 3 villains that they did some justice on. And god dammit, Spoiler: They fucking killed Harry Osborn and Venom!! Assholes! Very disappointingly, too! |
Very interesting. I actually liked the movie. I enjoyed the hell out of it. I think maybe some of the other people here watched a different movie. It did help seeing it on the IMAX screen. That was a lot of fun. For the record, watching Peter mope around in the second one was very annoying. I might have to go SP1, SP3, and then SP2 as my choices. HAH!
PS, I enjoyed the jazz club scene. |
Um, maybe you just love CGI?
|
I like the movie, i havent decided yet if i liked it any better then the first two.
There were a couple scene with bad/over the top acting and a couple of people were laughing alot at it and made me chuckle. Oh and why would you bring a baby to come see that movie and sit up front?? Cause that ruined part of the movie for me. /shrug |
I really disliked this movie.
One, it had the later Batman movie's problem of trying to fit in Spidey, and Mary Jane, and Sandman, and Harry, and the black costume, and Gwen Stacy, and Venom. It was just way too much for one movie. Two, I really didn't need a dance number in a Spider-man movie. Showing the suit making Peter act like a total dick would have been enough. Three, Sandman goes from "I don't want to hurt you/leave me alone", suddenly Venom says "Hey, I hate Spidey and so do you. Let's kill him" and Sandman's just all "Okay cool". Four, Spoiler: Sandman: "Sorry for killing your uncle." Spidey: "It's cool Mr. Criminal, you did it for a good reason and all.", Sandman: "Yeah cool, I'm just gonna head out now." Spidey: "Cool, you are totally trustworthy with my secret identity and surely wouldn't sell it to a paper at the first possible moment to raise a bit more cash to help your sick daughter. See ya." So stupid. |
Thumbs up on the special effects, thumbs down on the horrible horrible storyline.
