Gameshow Marathon
Did anyone watch this yesterday? Description of the show as follows:-
GAMESHOW MARATHON features six celebrity contestants competing in a weekly elimination-style tournament in which they play different classic game shows each episode including "The Price Is Right," "Let's Make a Deal," "Beat the Clock," "Press Your Luck," "Card Sharks," "Match Game" and "Family Feud." Celebrities participating include Tim Meadows ("Saturday Night Live"), Leslie Nielsen ("Airplane"), Kathy Najimy ("Sister Act"), Lance Bass ('N Sync), Paige Davis ("Trading Spaces") and Brande Roderick ("Baywatch"). A champion will be crowned at the end of the competition. In addition, the program will include a viewer participation element whereby they will have a chance to win the celebrity's grand prize each episode through a wireless (text message) trivia game that enters viewers into a sweepstakes. Personally I can't believe I watched the whole thing - it was a complete load of crap - Brande Roderick was the big winner this show and just seemed like a huge moron. Lance Bass actually was pretty funny. Paige Davis looked high, Tim Meadows looked angry, and Leslie Neilson seemed confused. |
What a strange idea for a show... Most people under 35 won't have a clue what these games are...
I give it a few more episodes before they yank it. |
My wife was pretty excited about seeing this, and I was curious how they were going to update these old classics. It seemed like good timing and savvy programming.
Boy were we disappointed. The Price is Right pacing was way off: Excessive and poorly timed commercial breaks, redundant celeb interviews, Ricki Lake... They should just broadcast prime time versions of the originals with bigger, more luxurious prizes. We turned it off after about 15 minutes. |
match game always had 6 celebs on the show -- plus contestents... and family feud had two groups of five - how are they going to work those shows?
