Let's talk about web-comics!
I'll start with.....
Friendly Hostility by K. Sandra Fuhr http://www.friendlyhostility.com A comic based on the adventures of two male roommates, which has supernatural overtones and lots of gay jokes. The twist? These two are a gay couple. This is a spin-off of Fuhr's popular "Boy Meets Boy" comic which focuses on the lives of Fox Maharassa and Collin Sri'vastra. It brings in a lot of backstory and often focuses on Fox's family. Some of the best parts include Uncle Rafi, a sex fiend and priest for the Church of Satan. Despite being a spin-off, this comic is stand-alone great. I got into it before I even read Boy Meets Boy, and didn't even realize that it was the same author and artist. |
these are the ones i view everyday or whenever they are updated. :)
http://www.pvponline.com/ game magazine place. http://www.gucomics.com/ video game related. http://www.reallifecomics.com/ life of a guy. story relates around his life and a few characters and video games. http://cheston.com/pbf/archive.html random strips with almost no dialogue. http://www.wulffmorgenthaler.com/ random 1 frame comics. really funny. http://www.sexylosers.com/ used to be updated regularly but it dies. mostly about hardcore sex. http://penny-arcade.com/view.php 2 guys talk about video games or random stuff. http://www.ctrlaltdel-online.com/comic.php once again, 2 guys talk about videogames. |
I'll second PVP, Real Life, Penny Arcade, Sexy Losers, and the Perry Bible Fellowship.
http://www.aikida.net - Storyline about a chick named Aikida and her on-again/off-again boyfriend Wade http://www.goats.com/ - Zany awesome story about everything imaginable. You have to start from the beginning. This is BY FAR my favorite comic. http://loserz.scribblekid.org/ - a little random and immature at times, but it's a story about 3 kids in high school who are best friends nomatter what. http://www.questionablecontent.net/ - Another one that you have to read from the beginning. QC stars a nerdy indie guy named Martin who has serious problems with women. The author's art has gotten amazingly better over time. http://www.spamusement.com/ - HILARIOUS comic based entirely off of spam email subject lines. Terrible art, but it's the funniest shit ever. |
How about: http://www.leasticoulddo.com ? It's SO hilarious!

Perry Bible Fellowship
I discovered PBF a while back and simply adore it. The comic varies in drawing styles from crude black and white to vivid drawings. The comic is absurd or features a violent twist. One example is "Instant Bacon" where a man wants to make lots of bacon. He approaches a pig. Then attaches dinomite around the animal. I love it. It's usally updated on Tuesdays. I like: Weeaboo, Grammar Wizard, and 806 Birch Street. |

Comic made with the Half Life2 engine, about the adventures of Gordon Frohman. Very funny for those who have played HL2 |
The issue I have with Real Life Comics recently is the lack of comics!

About grad and some undergrad students at Stanford. Pretty much applies to grad students anywhere, but enigneers and science majors more specifically. |
http://www.boasas.com/
It's a comic called Boy on a Stick and Slither (the names of the two main chars). Goes between social commentary and the human condition with the occasional silly thrown in. http://www.boasas.com/?c=139 is my favorite and is my desktop pic right now. Edit: Just to highlight Questionable Content again... that artwork is fuckin' amazing now. It's cool to see the progression of the creator's art in that one. Storyline is pretty good, and reminds me of about a third of the sexuality thread. :) |
Mostly I read Penny Arcade and Ctrl+Alt+Del. Both great comics.

Wapsi Square
by Paul Taylor http://wapsisquare.com/index.html This is an intriguing comic about a very well-endowed museum curator who has a mystical past and present. It focuses als on her friends, who pretty much run the full gambit of personalities. The most notable of these friends, though, are the three girls that make up the mystical Chimera, and Tepoztocal, the Aztec God of Alcohol. It updates mmonday through friday and is such a great read. |

My favorites are probably:
1. Something Positive, which is a comic about the misadventures of a group of Bostonians, featuring excessive violence and sarcasm. The following is something I found on the web -- if anyone cares, I can give credit for it: Randy [the writer] has made a story that has become more involved than strange play rehearsals and D&D. What was once an innocent romp through a field of cynicism and sex midgets has become a heart-felt, honest, and sometimes painful story. What's even better, is that though melodrama can be a dangerous medium to work with, Randy does it flawlessly. [Edited out spoilers regarding a recent, depressing storyline]. Kudos to Randy for actually having people feel sympathetic towards his characters. The fucking bastard. 2. Queen of Wands, which is probably even harder to describe, but is about a group of friends in Denver. It's now over, and going through re-runs with artist commentary. Both comics are focused on the dramatic, but with a heavy emphasis on the humor and satire. |
imaginary friends
by Darren Pillsbury http://imaginaryfriends.us/ The premise of this comic is a single father with two children. The dad works for a two company and the story is going through Christmas and all the memories and hardships related to the season. It will eventually lead up to the father being able to see and interract with his son's imaginary friends. |
Bob The Angry Flower
Hilariously pseudo-political but always bizzare and random... I've been reading it every friday since 1999. I love it, and show it to everyone that will care to listen. www.angryflower.com Some of my favorites: Noir Canada wins the Gold! Slapping the SHIT out of George W. Bush Homosexual Robot Cop The Man Behind the Curtain The Time Looker-Forward tube |
Some more good ones
The Outer Circle
You'll have to go a few strips back to get the storyline on this one, but it's generally very funny. Duling Analogs A video game comic from the creator of The Outer Circle. VG Cats A video game comic with a bunch of cats playing different roles in video game scenarios. I love the art on this one! My favorite VG cats comic: Face Full of Alien Wing-Wong -- They even have a t-shirt to go with that. :) |
Red Meat.
at redmeat.com Half the people I've told about it don't like it. The other half are special, like me. |
Adding to the list:
Scary Go Round: Wierd English comic, but lots of fun. Mon-Fri. Schlock Mercenary: Science fiction comic about a mercenary company. Very intelligent and solid drawing. Every single day of the week. Also, a further vote cast for Perry Bible Fellowship. The new PLIF, in my estimation. Genius. |
The Adventures of Dr. McNinja
Where else do you have a ninja, who is also a doctor, fighting a giant lumberjack?! |
