				A Scanner Partly

This picture was equally inspired by boredom and the new film based on the Philip K Dick novel "A Scanner Darkly," which utilizes a technique called "rotoscoping" to color over each frame of film to create something between a fully animated feature and a film shot with live actors.

This particular picture was done in photshop with a mouse, and yeah that's me. ![]() This is the original, in which I look even more pale than usual thanks to the flash being used in an already bright room. As you can see I kinda juiced up the beard for fun. ![]()

Director Ralph Bakshi also uses this technique, though it is a combination of this and full out animation. It is predominately seen in the movie "Wizards" but I believe he did a couple others with this as well. It makes for some wicked scenes.

Well then you will be happy to know that "A Scanner Darkly" is being directed by the same man, Richard Linklater.
