El Pollo Vs. Dizzet - Battle Scene Challenge
 

Ladys and Gentelmen i am proud to announce the Battle scene challenge between El Pollo and I...

Well it is going like this El Pollo and i are going to make a battle scene two groups facing eachother and ready to attack eachother El Pollo will draw one group and i will make the other and when the deadline comes we are putting the drawings together so we have one big drawing of a battle scene...

RULES

- The group is made of 5 characters
- The finsihed picture format is a lying down A3(so we are both making a highstanding a4 picture of our group)
- El Pollo and i will be starting our own private thread where you can se sketches and Work In Progress

Well now we only need a subject of the battle...
Example:
Vampires vs. Werewolfs
Heaven vs. Hell
Superheros vs. Villians
Orcs vs. humans

Well think you get it so we would like people coming with suggestions on the theme...

Apples vs Bananas (this sounds simple, but I want to see apples that would scare small children! Bananas in kilts and woad face paint! Or some otherwise very surprising view of lovely fruit.)

Coffee vs Tea
Slugs vs Salt (I think this might be a bit of a one sided battle though...)

hrmm... I'll try to think of more. I like the idea of Chickens vs Eggs.

Doh! Oh well. I'll think of something.

So I guess we won't be seeing the ultimate battle of Smurfs vs. Snorks.
Though I'm really liking the Chickens vs. Eggs idea. Are all these suggestions going to be thrown into a hat and then chosen at random?

yes we can say on friday i will on random take a subject and then the battle is on...

ohh and i like the Brains vs Brawn...

Oh, and by the way, what are the dimensions of A4 paper? We don't use that much over here in the US.

Okay, I've got most of my characters mapped out in my head, but haven't had a chance to put them to paper yet. But as soon as I do, are we supposed to post our character design sketches here or wait till the scene to unveil them?

well i think we are going to unveil them on the day of the deadline. We wont make the people see how its going to look before time :P

Ok, I had an entire weekend lined up to finish this thing up. But as it turned out, I had to work this weekend. So I wasn't able to get my half finished. It's really close to finished, but it's just not there yet. So I don't think I'll be making the Nov 1 deadline. I just need one more day. And, unfortunately, it doesn't look like I'll get that day until Sunday. So, um, I need an extension....

Ok, sorry, I recently moved and don't have any internet access yet, so I haven't been able to post my part. And I'm at work right now and don't have access to it here anyway. But I should be up and running again soon and I'll be able to post once again. So is this still on? Or is my heavenly army going to go unchallenged?

Well, we're both ready with our soldiers, but then we ran into the problem of the playing field. If I just had my one big scene, and he had his one big scene, the backgrounds would show where one ends and the other begins. So Dizzet is creating a full background and we'll lay out our players there once he's ready.

yeah im woking on the background but finding the time is a little hard :p but i hope i will finish it here in the weekend

ya! i'd like to atleast see something. even if it's just sketches.

But the works-in-progress at this point are fully finished pictures. I'd love to finally be able to post my stuff, but I don't know when it's happening. Unless, Dizzet, you want to settle for a simple gradient or horizon line background?

backgrounds dont really matter.. i think everyone including me just wants to see a battle!! :thumbsup:

LOL! Nice Pollo. I thought this was going to be "serious" pencil drawings, boy was I surprised. Still good though!

Glad to surprise you. I couldn't take this too seriously. I just had to goof it up.

No Zeus or Mercury here. I kept it with a Christian heaven. But it is kinda cluttered and hard to see so allow me to break it down for you "Director's Commentary" style. We'll start with...

Mecha-Pope
This went through several incarnations before becoming what it is. It started as Pope in a tank with his bulletproof glass cage up on top. Then it became kind of an ED209 mech, and then finally became Mecha-Pope.

Holy Ghost
 

Holy Ghost
This one began as a spirit looking thing that didn't fit in with the rest of the cast. Then became a kind of ghost bird since it is usually represented by a dove. Still wasn't really liking that idea so I stopped thinking "Holy Spirit" and began thinking "Holy Ghost." That's when I got the idea for a skinny little kid in stomping boots wearing a sheet.

Then there's God. Originally intended to be in robes with a flowing white beard and a lightning bolt, all that I kept was the lightning bolt form that. For the rest of it I decided to design him as a wrestler, hence the muscles, headband, and mutton chops. I drew this last year, and now I'm hearing that WWE is doing a wrestling match with God. They must be spying on me...

Angels are like the foot soldiers for God, so that's why I made my angel into an army guy. Combat boots, olive pants, gray army t-shirt, dog tags, combined with the angel attributes of wings and flaming sword.

Jesus
Jesus is my favorite on of the group and I knew exactly how I wanted him to look from the beginning. He carries water guns loaded with Holy Water while scooting around on roller skates. Why roller skates? Because it's tough to move around when you're bearing the weight of the world's sins on your back.

I simply cannot put into words just how much ass this kicks!

All the characters are so well-drawn, and with so much detail gone into both the drawing and the thought behind it all. You rock, my friend.

Hopefully, they'll give you one of those little fans to keep you cool...coz there's no way God's letting you into Heaven now. :D

Actually El Pollo - you ought to go straight to heaven in my way of thinking. A strong group of characters, with their attributes based on their positive abilities, and all well intended as opposed to meaning to be a diss - and not a misstep anywear. No ride on the Hell express for you my friend. Excellent work in conception and execution.

Ya, Jesus one is my favorite too. I can totally see this as some funny cartoon show, similar to ATHF in style. Let me know if you need a writer! :D

BTW, so how do you draw those? Sketch by hand and scan, or all on computer, or what? And if so, what program?

Pencils, then inks, then eraser to clean up all my stray pencil marks. Then I scan it in and Photoshop away.
