Rochester sketches
5 Attachment(s)
It pretty well completely slipped my mind to draw this last weekend. The get together was involving and I rarely thought of that more reflective pursuit.
Besides, I had a Pavlovian response - triggered by having to tear a sketch out of my pad and hand it over to the customs agent (silly me - I was in a secured area  ). He brought it back after handing it around the room for 10 minutes - his supervisor told him to tell me btw it was pretty good. The poor crumpled thing is god knows where now - I thought it was stuffed in my knapsack but it could have wound up in the trash. Anyways, that might be why I drew so little  I wonder if anyone noticed a picture showing me holding a bottle . . . Pencil sketches. The Toronto end of the ferry route in the embarcation deck. I opened my sketchbook and there was this huge stain from who knows - I thought the neighbours tree would look good there, sort of pretty it up :icare: The gorgeous weather meant the back porch saw a lot of traffic - Shanifaye was doing some pre-toast improv while the webcam was getting taped to the door   Remember - this is a sketch and I got asked by Maleficent to share what I did. I wish I'd had the opportunity to do extenced life drawings of each of the TFP ladies I met - that would have been really cool  Now that would be a thread all to itself  Maybe another time, eh? The fellows get equal time - I got Charlatan and PJ as they threw horseshoes around the yard. I eventually moved. I didn't feel safe, so I really didn't get into a lot of drawing just then :| |
the first three are fantastic.. .the next three are a little harder to actually see..
/me sharpens kramus's pencils... I'm sure that tecoyah would be proud to have any of them hanging on his wall... as a remeberance... you really are very talented |

Onesnowyowl visiting chat. She is so sweet and so pretty that the ravening beast one feels stirring inside almost seems inappropriate. Then she gives a stir and a look and you think my goodness, this lady is such a thoughtful perceptive and complex young woman . . . RRRRR :icare:
Oblar and onesnowyowl having conversation edited to add crops of the tree because I thought it looked neat, and onesnowyowl because I thought she looked so sweet |
These are great pics, Kramus. You have considerable talent. Show us more!
|
Good job Kramus, top notch...........
|
i am truly amazed by your ability.. Your artwork truly is astounding, and the speed at which you do these sketches makes it even moreso.
|
I knew you have done some sketching, but I had no idea you'd done all of that!! Those are wonderful
|
Is that stain perhaps from when the Customs agents roughed you up a bit? You may have forgotten due to the blow to the head...
...regardless of the truth it makes a good story. Great sketching by the way... |
these are nice, you have a really lovely delicate style :)

Very nice sketches!!!

Great job Kramus! Did you use the 'point' method (right name?) for some of those. I love drawing using dots. It is easier to get shading in my opinion.
I am looking forward to seeing more from you! |
heh - the customs tree. Good title, just not true . . . they were really nice people after all, and I got through without removing my trousers - which in those particular circumstances is considered a good thing.
Thanks for the positive comments folks - I just kept drifting along and forgetting to pull out my pad so I only did the bit I posted here. These are all pencil sketches ohh shesus. The combination of my scan and the monitor seems to cluster pixels into a look more like stippling in some cases. One thing I noticed is when I save a drawing and open it in windows picture viewer it is a much truer look than the http look that I see in a thread. I really noticed that first in the Night Air pic I posted a short while ago - flyman commented on the look and I had only paid attention really to the windows view, and they were quite different on my laptop. Thanks again everybody - I had the time of my life there and the weekend format was perfect. Thankyou Tecoyah! |
If my plan to move to Rochester holds... I'd love to come to Toronto and just peek over your shoulder once in a while, Kramus :)
|
I know this is late, but I thought I'd mention that I really...really like the trees.
And the sketch of the house. It just seems so...warm. |
amonkie - if you are peeking over my shoulder I am feeling warm and tingly :)
Thanks guthmund - I enjoyed the way the tree looks - trees are a favorite and I plan to do a major piece involving one. So there will be many versions before that, and this particular sketch will quite probably be one of the ones I refer to. As for the house - it was a warm house. I highly recommend the hospitality extended there, and urge anyone who possibly can to take advantage the next time it is offered :) |

My Dad is going to Toronto in less than two weeks... I've seriously considered hiding in his laptop case... they DO have the shrinking potion down safely now, don't they? |
Wow...
Hadn't seen this thread, nor was I aware I was so...present in it. Kramus, thank you for all the kind things you said about me (I never knew I had the ability to bring out a ravenous beast in anyone!). It's highly appreciated. And I love the sketches...heck, I'm looking at Turtles and Longneck on my wall right now :) |

As for the ravening beast remark my lovely Owl, come come now ;) |
I'm going to bump all my art threads - attachments uploaded to TFP are going to be deleted as per http://www.tfproject.org/tfp/showthread.php?t=123398, and I would like to put this stuff out there one last time :)
