old stuff
i haven't sketched or painted for years now.
maybe once the remodeling is complete, i might give it a go again? anyway the other day i was chatting w/a friend who owns a framing business & gallery. he asked to see some of my old work from my junior college art classes. i conjured up some old & not so great photos of 3 of my painting from way back then. here they are. they were left as is at the end of the 3 hours class time. i probably could have / should have come home & worked on them more, but i didn't. acrylic on paper oil on canvas and this one (oil on canvas) eventually cracked & like a tard, i tried to "fix" it w/varnish, not knowing what the hell i was doing... so there's ugly amber blobs all over it now... i'm contemplating taking classes again. it could be curious to see if my style has changed over the years. i'm thinking yes it probably has. |

if you'd really like to hang it, perhaps i can get a print made at kinkos for you... my home scanner is not quite large enough & i am the suck with the camera. Quote:
anyway, just a rough quick pencil layout & then go to town w/brushes & tubes of paint! generally i only used red, yellow & blue (sometimes a bit of black or white) & mixed my own colors, that way the pallette is infinite. layering colors is great fun, too. |
I like the lounging lady, bernie. She's teh sexy! ;)
The shapes behind her bring to mind birds to me. Nice work, bern. You should definitely take it up again. :) |

i feel so honored. you rock hard, man. |
wow. in agreement with most here. that first one is sweet. you have one more soul routing for you to get back into it.
like you, i have painted in years. this might just be thing the thing to get me back into it. thank you for the kick start! |
I like them all but the first one has the cool colors.
Is that Mr. Bernadette with short hair? Flyman has given you an honor that you deserve. Kudos to him. |
Have to be in agreement with most of the folks here. I really like the colors and detailing of the first one. Very, very cool.

Bern,
I really like your unique style with the mix of colors and your wide brush strokes. It's hard to pick a favourite from so many great ones but I think I'd choose #1 because of the extra details and great composition. A gifted painter such as yourself should never have quit painting. I urge you to take it up again so you can develop your style and doing once again something you love. I bet painting was one of your favourite relaxing activities. Am I right? |
